  • When Windows starts it is always a dialogue box that flashes on the screen and the CPU usage high (above 50%), after I connect sometimes for several minutes.

Original title: at the start of Windows there is always a dialogue box that flashes on the screen, but I've known idea what it is.

How can I determine which program is using this dialog box? I also don't expect high utilization of the processor (over 50%) after that I connect sometimes for several minutes. I see not all applications running in the Task Manager. The amount of CPU utilization in the services tab doesn't match what I see compared to what the gadget is read in my sidebar. Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Soan,

    1. What is exactly mentioned in the dialog box?

    2. when the problem started?

    3. did you of recent changes on the system?

    Method 1:

    Step 1:

You can check if the problem occurs in safe mode.

Start your computer in safe mode

    Step 2:

If you are not faced with the question in safe mode, you can perform a clean boot and check.

A clean boot to check if startup item or services to third-party application is causing this issue.

You can read the following article to put the computer in a clean boot:

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

After the troubleshooting steps, please refer to clean the boot link to put the computer to normal startup mode.

    Method 2:

You can read the following article and perform a full scan of security on your computer.

    Microsoft safety scanner

Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss. You can take a backup of important data before performing analysis.

    Method 3:

You can also read the following article and try to optimize the performance of Windows Vista.

  • FreeCell, solitaire and spider solitaire are now black and white after Windows update

    Hello

I wonder if anyone can help. have never used a forum before bare with me if I don't give all the details, but the basics are as follows:
Windows update two days ago and since then freecell, solitary and lonely spider are black and white.  Mahjong, purble place etc. are fine colors and graphics are ok.
put online to update the graphics drivers and computer says that all drivers are up-to-date.  also turned windows has on and outside and checked freecell etc. on games and uninstalled and reinstalled. no luck. "computer is a dell desktop computer and is about six years old, but I regularly updated and try to"keep a tidy ship.
    I hope someone can help
or if I've lost games can I download a version of freecell, who has an option to restart game
    Thank you
    Maria

The system restore solved my problem and after that I had to do it AGAIN today, I went to Windows Update and changed the settings so that the updates would not automatically download and install on my computer.  It is certainly a problem with one of the Microsoft updates.  I just hope that they recognize that one and let us know as soon as POSSIBLE!  I'll be very selective on what updates, I am hosting in the future!

  • System/drawer/bar task icons are missing after each reboot

Original title: why every time that I reboot, or start my computer some of my system/drawer/bar task icons are missing.

Whenever I have to resart my computer there are always one or two icons always absent from the State system, as a time bar IDM is missing and a time MSE icon missing etc, I scan my computer with AVG, Avira and Avast, no viruses not found so far. SO why this continue to happen, is this Windows Bug or what? This never happened to me in Windows XP, the "Notification area icons" settings are fine, nothing wrong with them. Please help me solve this problem...
Now the Drivermax icon is missing, but I put it to start at the start....

    Hi Furqan,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community Forum.

The issue may have been caused due to conflict of third party software. I suggest you to restart the computer in safe mode and perform the clean boot to avoid conflicts.

Put your system to the clean boot state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem. You must follow the steps in the article mentioned below to perform a clean boot.

How to perform a clean boot in Windows

Note: see 'How do I reset the computer to start normally after a boot minimum troubleshooting' to reset the computer starts normally after troubleshooting.

Also, try to rebuild your icon cache and check.

    (1) close all programs
    2) click Start, and then type CMD (without the quoatation marks) in the search programs and files engine
    (3) then right click on the CMD program that appears in the list, and then select: run as administrator
    4) access: C:\Users\\AppData\Local
(at the prompt enter: CD /d %userprofile%\AppData\Local now, press the "Enter" key)
    (5) now delete the IconCache.db file as follows: DEL IconCache.db /ah and press the enter"" key.
    (6) close the command window.
    7-restart the computer.

Important: Microsoft recommends the use of security that one software alone both. With the help of many will create conflicts between them.

Hope this information is useful. Please feel free to answer in the case where you are facing in the future other problems with Windows.

    Thank you.

  • Apprear in black and white office on desktop icons

original title: Programs Office is not displayed correctly

I am running XP Pro.  My computer came into mode Hibernate and when I restarted (power off; fed up) all of my Office programs (Word, Excel, PPT, etc.) are displayed in black and white.  The only color is the background strip at the top of the screen.  Icons, etc. are black outlines.  Same Outlook Express is different (it will highlight messages in green, not blue).  I reinstalled my display driver.  I fiddled with the option 'view' on each program, but nothing works.  Most of my other programs is not concerned that my browser (Firefox) lack also a few in the toolbar background colors, etc..  Any ideas?

    Thank you!!

Problem is solved!  On another forum, someone suggested this link:
    http://www.eggheadcafe.com/Microsoft/Office-miscellaneous/31274535/Office-2007-user-interface.aspx

I followed several of these steps, and the problem is solved!

  • Enlarged icons, taskbar, toolbars of Internet explore and the Web page itself

I woke up this morning and all my desktop icons have been twice the size.  My icons in my taskbar are also maximized.  I don't understand how to resize their return to their original size.  Also when I'm on the internet explore all toolbars, bar Favorites and actual web page are maximized.  I have trie goes to the zoom tool, but it is already set to 100 where it has always been.  When I Zoom out to 75, everything is much too small.  Does anyone else have this problem?  My whole computer seems just out of whack, and I don't know why or how this happened.

    4 suggestions...

    1. set DPI:
Right-click on a free space of the desktop > customize > column to the left, adjust the size of police (in PPP) > uac prompt > click default scale (96 DPI).

    2. resolution:
Right-click on a free space of the desktop > personalize > Display Setings > move the slider until you find the correct resolution. Check your user manual, see if she tells you what resolution is for your computer.

Here is a table of the guide line:

    3. do a system restore. Choose the date where your screen is a good size as your restore point.

Start button > Search box, type system restore > press the Enter key > uac prompt > click on choose a different restore point > next > select dates as your restore point, until the click > next > finish
To sit and wait. The machine restarts when it's done.

Note: in case the images that appear on your screen are too large for you to implement the methods above, go in Mode safe and run these suggestions.

Here's how to get safe mode:

Shut down your computer > turn it back on and immediately and repeatedly tab key F8 until you see a black and white screen. The top/down arrow and select Safe Mode

    4. go to your computer manufacturer Web site. Check if your graphics card drivers need to be updated.

You can find the button at the right end of the Navigation bar.

Open the Customize via "view > toolbars > customize" or "Firefox > Options > toolbars."

You can drag the home from its current position to the right button to the previous position to the left of the address bar.

    Try this:

Go to the Web site of the manufacturer of your laptop computer-graphics/computer card > drivers and downloads Section > key in your model number > look for the latest Vista drivers > download/install them.

    Then:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-AU/Windows-Vista/change-screen-resolution

    Change the screen resolution

Screen resolution refers to the clarity of the text and images on your screen. At higher resolutions, items appear sharper. They appear also smaller, so more items adapted to the screen. At lower resolutions, fewer items adapted to the screen, but they are larger and easier to see. At very low resolutions, however, images may have serrated edges.
