OfficeJet Pro 8740: HP OfficeJet Pro 8740 Factory Reset

One person got a new printer to my client and did not wait to introduce myself and put in place.  They disabled USB in the menu and the reset network settings does not return.  How to reset the default printer or re - activate the networking on the printer?

Hi JFARLING!

If you don't see any option to restore the factory settings on your JO 8740 printer, you can try to do the following:

Note: This will restore literally all the settings of the printer, and you will need to do the 'out of the box' configuration after reboot.

  1. Press the power button to turn on the printer.

  • OfficeJet 4610 - default factory reset - change the language from Chinese to English.

    Hello

Please be kind - I am a dead set on this HP forum newbie.

Have an OfficeJet 4610. While the implementation, accidentally selected Chinese (foolishly).

There is no question 'Do you really do this?', and if the printer is then configured in Chinese.

Now I'm wanting to change it to English. Easy? Not so so.

He spent more than two hours solid Googling for 4610 or 4620 with each change the language in English or do a reset on the printer. So far, nothing--other than a single page on the site HP 4610, who says to select option 5, maintenance, option 2 then select the language of your choice. That's fine, but my options are 8 languages still in Chinese... And I can't read Chinese. What are the characters of 'ENGLISH' in Chinese?

Also found another thread on reset the 4620 in these forums, but everyone wants to do private messages.

Download the guide of the user - all 288 something pages specify not at all on what happens if this scenario occurs.

-This is, is that 8 list items is 'English' to the option 'change language'?, or, how to do a reset on the 4610, so I can start this brand new as if I were pulling out of the box.

Thanks in advance for any information.

    / Dave.

    Hello

    Thanks heaps for the answer.

Many apologies for my rants. I should not have written that. (If I can I might change it)

    Just pure frustration.

In any case, it turns out that the manual and the other thread of HP is correct in the menu structure. Which caused more frustration.

Told to go to the menu menu 2 then 5.

It turns out that it's 4 menu then menu 2.

    Thank you.

  • OfficeJet Pro 6835: Printer reset the date and time and other actions not initiated

My printer (Officejet Pro 6835) turns on randomly and want to reset/confirm the date and time settings.  Sometimes even lights up and wants to resume a scan or fax that was never launched.  I want to stop this behavior.

I didn't want to factory reset and did the thing turned off, etc..  Instead, I went into Setup and turned off the web services 'HP eprint' sign and "HP printable" I was sure that my reset requests were in response to certain functions attached to these.  This seems to have solved my problem.  Please send to HP if you can that their links with the web services are intrusive and therefore undesirable.

  • HP ENVY 17 Notebook PC: Can't activate Windows 8 Pro after a factory reset (hard drive reformatted).

    Hello:

I had to make a drastic clean the C drive of my ENVY 17 laptop and did a Factory Reset. I was able to reload Windows 8 Pro to my USB stick recovery.

However, Windows 8 Pro cannot be reactivated indicating that the product key is invalid or blocked. I understand that this is due to having the OS completely cleaned and formatted drive.

    My questions are:

    1. Will be the HP (which is available on order) recovery disks be able to help solve the situation described above?
    2. It will allow me to reactivate my Windows 8 Pro?
    3. Will the recovery be HP discs/media contain or are marked with the correct Windows product key?

    Thank you

  • Real factory reset for OfficeJet K60

How can I make a real factory reset on an OfficeJet K60? I chose the option of this name from the LCD, but I can still print to the event log with a list of numbers dialed and received, along the speed dial list. Not the kind of thing you'd expect to see in a device you just plant.

As for motivation, it was the accountant's fax machine. I am trying to be responsible and erase all data of him before that he go to the recycling business. For lack of a real factory reset option, does anyone have disassembly instructions so I can destroy the circuit board?

    Hi Craig,.

I'm glad that solved your problem!

The reason why I didn't after resetting publicly, it is that it does not apply to all situations of troubleshooting. Resets are the last step after an exhausting standard troubleshooting. If the reset doesn't fix the problem, this usually indicates a hardware problem.

Reset instructions can have unexpected results if not used properly. These steps are reserved for situations of 'last resort '. Detachment is publicly could owners their products in a complete reset reset is not necessary.

Finally, as with any reset, power cycle returns the default printer and clears the saved settings, it would not be advisable to proceed with this step, immediately.

  • Hp pro book series S 4530 s setting factory reset

I'm trying to reset my laptop back to factory settings. I have directions - Ecs during startup, press f10, follow the instructions on the screen file - reset default.

The only "statement" coming is to confirm the reset by pressing Yes or no, I went through the procedure several times. When I restart the computer, nothing is different... Everything, everything is still there.

    Can any help?

    Hello:

If you make reference to the factory reset the hard drive to its original of the condition of the box, you should be pressing the F11 key at the beginning of the HP welcome screen.

Tapping the F10 key and reset the BIOS to its default values, just reset the BIOS to the default settings, not the operating system and programs provided with your laptop.

    Hello!

After some time to research and try a lot of things (this is where the first thread, I found about this), I found a simple and easy solution here: http://directaccess.richardhicks.com/2013/06/14/directaccess-on-the-microsoft-surface-pro/

    Steps to follow:

    1. make sure that the recovery drive has a letter (use diskpart)

    2 run the following:

    REAgentC.exe/setosimage/Path C:\Windows /index D:\RecoveryImage\/Target 1

3 try to restore to factory settings / all delete and install new

It worked for me, maybe someone who's looking for an answer will be able to do it now. Would also be great if it can answer to this question, because the negotiation for a new device is a lot more work than running a simple command :)

    Greetings,

    Hello;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

I read your post about the need to do a factory reset and wanted to help.

What will work restores your computer to its original factory state using HP recovery media. It is a set of DVD and a CD or a USB key, which will erase the hard drive (removing all data, applications and settings, reinstall the original OS, drivers and utilities for HP. In some cases, you will be able to order a USB instead of discs.  You must order at HP; they cannot be downloaded.

You can look online for recovery from the paged media related: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers

Once there, enter your product name or number. On your software page and download the drivers, select your operating system and version. Click on "Update".  If the HP recovery support is available for your computer, down near the bottom of the page, you will see an entry for the command Recovery Media-CD/DVD/USB. Click on the symbol '+' to expand this entty and click on order to press for more details.

Or, if you prefer, you can do the same by contacting HP Customer Service:

If you live in the United States or the Canada, details are on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html#section1

If you live elsewhere, contact details are on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.html

NOTE: once you get through, stay on the line until you are finally able to talk to someone ' one - it can take a while!

When you talk about customer support, tell them that your PC is only a few months and they may be willing to send you the recovery media for shipping only.

Note that if HP no longer provides a recovery media for your model, a few other sites, you can check are: http://www.computersurgeons.com/ and http://www.restoredisks.com/

    Good luck

I'm a volunteer and I do not work for, or represent, HP.

  • Factory reset after re-installation of windows with a different key

    Hi all

    I bought a laptop HP dv7-7264ez, with 8 pre-installed windows ENVY.

After installing linux and messed with the boot settings, I need to re - install windows. Because I had not burned an iso of Windows 8 or extracted from my windows product key, I asked a friend to to burn me a DVD with his version of windows (Windows 8.1 pro). I did a reset of the PC of the utility of windows with this new version.

Now, I try to get my old version of Windows (normal, not pro) for reasons morals and because I can't "activate Windows" with the version of my friend.

To create a Windows DVD, I downloaded the Microsoft tool and extract from my current product key with this tool. The problem is that the extracted key is the version of my friend and it is not valid to create a .iso for Windows 8.

In other words, I need to get my original Windows product key!

Is it possible to do a factory reset 'real '?

Or y at - it a database with all affected Windows keys?

    Thanks for your help!

    VincenT

    You are the very welcome.

You may need to install the driver sata for your model.

    Try this...

Download the drivers from this link below (first or second file listed - 32 or 64 bit depending on the case).

    https://Downloadcenter.Intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?AGR=Y&ProdId=2101&DwnldID=23060&keyword=Intel+RAPI...

Extract the files on a usb flash drive.

With the flash drive and the installation of W8 media plugged into the machine, boot from the installation of W8 media.

After selecting the install now option, select the training - Advanced menu, Options and select the option load a driver.

You should now see the storage driver files listed.

If you check the box, it only includes the compatible driver.

Follow the prompts and if this is the problem, install W8.

There is no way I know of to recover the product key.

It works with an OEM W8 as XP installation disc used for in ancient times.

You had to match the installation media with the type of product key (OEM, sale retail or upgrade).
