• Java 7 u45 Web Start application launches

  I maintain an Eclipse RCP application launched with WebStart. Java 7 u45 made some security changes, and now my application crashes at startup.

  I added to the manifest:

  Permissions: permissions everything

  CodeBase: *.

  Trust-library: true

  This removed all the control panel warning messages. But I still have a problem of class loader when you try to load the first required class in my pot.  It's new to update 45. To add to the complication, my application using Eclipse RCP, so the classloading is through OSGi.

  I had the same problem with an older application (RCP based on Eclipse 3.2.2). After adding permissions, Trusted-library and name of the Application to all the jars of the disappeared of the warnings of additional security, but we still had "java.lang.RuntimeException: no id of the application has been found." in the journal and the app would send strange http requests to the server to request a "config.ini".

  I found the solution for this only today, the problem is that 7u45 will transport you not "precarious" to the application properties unless the JNLP is signed, so the OSGi framework did not get its bundle-list, instance-zone and a bunch of other things.

  Signature the JNLP was not possible for us because the JNLP is generated dynamically and change of properties for each deployment, using a model of JNLP is also not good because you can use wildcard characters in the properties there.

  Properties 'Precarious' can be transformed into "secure" by putting "jnlp." at the beginning of the name so I added this prefix for all our possessions and wrote a small wrapper that removes again and then calls the main of the previous main class.

  If you use properties in your JNLP that could be your problem as well.
