  We evaluate the streams for our needs of replication. We reproduce nearly 2000 two-way tables. Most of the tables are in a schema. The main schema has a few tables that are not replicated.
  
  Replicate us schema level? Or at the level of the table? What are the advantages and disadvantages?
  
  Replication of level schema included with a handful of exclusionary rules seems simpler.
  
  In water courses at the level of the tables as well as creating 2000 table rules in the beginning, add a new table to an existing configuration of streams, will require additional steps to stop capture/apply/spread, creating new rules for the new table and restart replication. However, it seems that level replication table offering flexibility in terms of group tables. We wanted to group tables about 10 groups of 20 to 300 tables in each group. Each group will have its own capture, propagate and apply. In this way, we can isolate large groups of those unimportant?

  Hello Stargaze,

  OK, so I understand that the grouping is based on the type of transactions and its importance. In this case the grouping would help you in many ways such as:

  1. If you encounter a problem or a bug with one of the processes of capture/apply then the other groups would work fine. Therefore, you have the opportunity to shoot a game of capture, propagation and applies until solve you the problem.

  2. in case if you perform any load batch where the transaction will affect over 10000 + records then it is possible that you could get stuck at 'SUSPENDED for FLOW CONTROL' on any of the feed items. With different groups would give you more flexibility to solve this problem by activating and deactivating groups.

  3. with the schema level replication even if you have the advantage of being simple and have fewer rules in the set of rules, you must consider the 2 points above before you implement it. You need to test both diagrams and tables with a typical load (simulation of the production) and need to identify potential problems in both. Some more points to consider:

  -apply the game patches 10.2.0.4 or at least 10.2.0.3
  -apply all the patches required streams (Note: 437838.1> on metalink)
  -follow the recommendations as indicated:
       Note: 418755.1 broadcast 10.2.0.x.x of recommendations
       Note: 335516.1 Performance of flow recommendations

  Hello guys,.

  I have a crowd of vsphere 5.5.0 VMware vCenter 6 and with the unit of replication 5.5.0, time ago, I configured the outbound replication for all virtual machines (VMS four) and replicate files are placed in a data store VMware another host, now I have to stop the replication (I know that all replicated files will be deleted) but I see that there are even virtual machines on the replication incoming and outgoing.

  So, how do I stop? any incoming or outgoing?  who's the other?

  Select the virtual machine in the replication of your inventory, stocks, vSphere replication of the actions, stop (or pause?)

  You see the incoming and outgoing is because you are replicating virtual machines to the same vCenter.

• Move cluster configured with replication SRM and Vsphere

  All,

  We go 2 groups in the near future to achieve a geographical distance between the 2 sites.

  A cluster is equipped with VMware 5.0 replication SRM and vSphere and the other cluster running VMware 5.5 and SRM in combination with replication of vSphere.

  What is the best way to move these clusters, I must stop the replication or interrupt the replication process and are these action to perform on SRM or we need to perform any action on the virtual machine itself?

  I read that a stop is setting the State to not configured including destroy all files in the target directory.

  Does anyone have an experience by physically moving a cluster managed by SRM (and replication of vSphere)

• SRM 5.5 - vSphere replication - error: impossible to reverse the replication for the Virtual Machine. A snapshot operation cannot be performed

  Hi all, we have just run a test DR failover of a couple of virtual machines in our protected our failover site and all site swung perfectly, two virtual machines came online and all applications work well. However when we cam to r-eprotect machines virtual, we get some errors.

  One of the virtual machines seems to have lived the reprotect end process, it is still running, but has not moved to 89% for some time. The virtual machine has a couple of grand (a little less than 2 TB) VMDK. slow progress is just a consequence of the large VMDK?

  More worrisome is the virtual machine which don't reprotect at all. It generates an error whenever I click on the "Restore" button (error: impossible to reverse the replication for the Virtual Machine.) A snapshot operation can not be performed).

  
  Does anyone have any ideas as to the cause?

  Finally got to the bottom of this. The issue was that reprotect SRM work was trying to dispel any snapshots that were taken on the computer object virtual destination in VMWare, but could not clean snapshots.

  The reason why snapshots would not consolidate was because it was snapshots of temporary VEEAM who in fact any snapshot file listed in the VSAN data store. So when we looked through the browser data store, no snapshot file existed in the virtual computers folder. Trying a manual removal also failed.

  To fix this, we created a snapshot of the virtual machine in the original data center (note is the engine to the bottom of the virtual machine), this effect was to get rid of the 'fade' snapshot that was visible in the Snapshot Manager that VEEAM backup had left behind. Once this had disappeared, the reprotect back to DCA worked perfectly.

• Automate the network port group selection in vsphere replication

  Hi, when you use the vsphere replication tool to recover servers in the data center of DR, the tool does not gives option to select network settings. I have to manually add the port groups and turn on the system remotely vcenter. Is it possible to automate this process, when the replication of a major part of the vms ~ 100-150. I would like to know if there is another way to fix the process and avoid the manual load.

  The only way to automate this process is through the Site Recovery Manager.  Automate and orchestrate BC/DR is a big part of the value offered by SRM. The other advantage is the ability to test your recovery plans without disruption of service.

• Are thinking of duplication of table to the replication of Vsphere, a quick question

  We currently use Array replication and plan to use the replication of vsphere for flexibility. Unfortunately, we have more than 500 virtual machines to protect - but it is another question and I hope MRS. deploy several devices that will help.

  I can't determine which network interface, the replication traffic goes on:

  1 Hypervizor ports between the ESX hosts (which are 1Gbit in my case) where VMS are?

  2. pushed through vcenter somehow?

  3 Vlan than VR devices are connected to the?

  I have a 10 Gbps link between sites, trying to find how to use more than 1 GB, because the 3 options above are 1Gbit. Although the unit sat on a group of ports that is supported by the host ESX 10Gbit links - but I guess that the only real device of a 1Gbit NIC adapter.

  Replication traffic is going:

  1 VR source ESXi server at the remote site via custom protocol LWD (light-weight-delta) TCP ports 31031 and 44046.

  2. outside in VR server via port 902 device and Protocol NFC ESXi host target, then the target data store.

  Separate NICS for VR (isolation of network traffic) replication traffic - to GDL from source ESXi to GDL for server VR application and for inbound replication traffic target ESXi NFC are not available in the current versions, but are part of an RV to come free.

  The VR machine using a NIC vmxnet3

  For the current version, you might want to perform some custom routing/formatting via the ports 31031 (initial full synchronization) and 44046 (all the traffic from replication after the initial synchronization is complete).

• Concerns about the replication on the VDR SRM Server

  Dear Experts,
  I have a few questions that I can't know since last week.
  FYI, my current environment has a VDR VM on a cluster of HQ. The VDR Server attachs with 1 system VMDK (8 GB) and 2 physical RDM disks (each disc = 1 TB).
  Now my environment will set up the Site Recovery Manager to replicate 1/3 of the total production of virtual machines on the site of DR, and VDR is one of the SRM protected VM list. In addition, we will build a DR cluster for these protected virtual machines.
  Our lease between HQ & DR line connection speed is around 20Mbps, specifically for the purpose of replication for the SRM storage.
  Questions
  1. Is it recommended to replicate Server HQ for DR using MRS. VDR online? Why?
  2. What is the best practice for backup server VDR (include backup data)?
  3. If we repliacte to Dominican Republic, VDR VDR allows to restore all backup VMs on cluster vCenter DR, since already, it was tied with vCenter cluster HQ?
  4. My total of VMs protected memory size is 148 GB, whereby for DR cluster only have 128 GB of physical memory total (2 ESXi, each has 64 GB). During the execution of failover or real failover Test, will all the VMs protected able to be powered at the same time?

  As I said in my previous post doesn't do SRM not replication - it works in conjunction with a product supported SAN to SAN replication - SRM will contact the bays of SAN to identify what LUN replicare and will know what virtual machines are sprinkled on those LUNS - only the changes of the block will be replicated.so that it would be unwise to replicate the vDR machine since there are a large number of block all changes day - it might be prudent to have a vDR VM built on the site of DR and will only be used when there is a failover.

  Yes it works in the same way between 4.0 u3 and 4.03-

  I saw the FAQ license RS saying that SRM requires no vSphere all be of the same edition and features will be affected by which edition is used.

  Which raises a number of questions in my mind.  For example if my environment is as such:

  • Production site with multiple ESX using Enterprise Plus with Nexus 1000V
  • Recovery site with several ESX using Advanced edition
  • Enough to set up for two sites license SRM and vCenter

  I guess that network should not much question, as I can manually map the port network group on the recovery plan.

  So my questions:

  1. Can I configure manually this ESX made uses SRM for commissioning virtual machines running the recovery plan?
     • I don't have a DRS on the DR site to distribute virtual machines and use all the resources.
  2. What happens when SRM tries to start a virtual machine with more than 4vCPU in the DR site?
     • Advance Edition limited my VMs to 4vCPU

  Your correct indeed neglected the advanced part, DRS is not supported. But another question for you: do you only use the equipment have the Dr site for DR purposes or you also make use of the material for other purposes as for example the test? Is it not that you can always create a business case to buy a license of the company and use the site of recovery for test purposes. In case a disaster occurs and a failover is invoked, you can add stimulus to stop your test virtual machines on the recovering site, before the SRM protected VM. This way make you full use of all the material on the protégé and the recovering site.

  Looking at your question again, it makes me think. If you create a cluster on the recovering site and map this cluster cluster on the protected site. All virtual machines that are protected will be started on the cluster during failover. OK you won't have DRS so resources are not distributed on the hosts, but they run and computers vMotion virtual host to another, you can manually.

  Point which is that you want to map individual VMS to ESX host, making your your design SRM very complex and difficult to maintain. Rather go for mapping clusters and take account of the fact that you have to manually virtual computers vMotion between host computers to create a balanced distribution of resources (or buy some DRS). It makes your life a lot easier.

• Best practices for the replication SAN with SRM

  We have a 20 MB MPLS pipe between our HQ and DR sites. Is this enough for replication? What are the advantages\disadvantages to use a VPN tunnel to the SAN replication over the internet?

  Unfortunately, it is really dependent on your replication technology of storage, replication, or modes, the data change and RPO rate if asynchronous replication.  I saw the replication occur on a 10 MB line very well even if the technology used has bandwidth capabilities very high compression.  What do you use?  Could someone here more to add experience with replication tool.

• vROPs and SRM - protected Machines and placeholder VMs have different guest free space operating system

  Question: Home - health - screen 'one or more machines virtual comments file systems are running out of disk space' has different values for MRS. protect VMs and VMs placeholder.

  Someone has to meet a gap with machines SRM protected value of free space of different OS comments that the position expressed VM?   I've been enforcing a cleaning of the guests with < 5% free space.  When we clean up the comments, the alert is cleared almost immediately on the VM protégé (power on), but the position expressed VM is never a present according to vROPs value.

  Is this a known issue? Is the problem with SRM or vROPs.  Are the vCenters related with MRS supported?

  I'm under vRops 6.2.0.3528905 build 3528905.  We use array based replication and have a GB link between sites.  Replication occurs in less than 5 minutes, so this shouldn't be a problem.  I can still see the question once a day and VMS space have yet to synchronize or to get close in value to their counterpart protect VM.

  So after a discussion with the SRM team and vRealize Operations Manager, has identified vRealize treated VMs placeholder as ordinary VMs.   The interesting thing is that when a failover test is running that hard drives are connected to the VM placeholder.  All the information from disk are ingested in the vCenter site recovery.   Later this was my problem.  I had to open a feature request.  If any of you are in the same boat please do the same so they'll add logic in to MRS.   At the moment my solution was to create a dynamic group for turning off VMs and join the dynamic group to a policy with disabled alarms.

  I have a question about VMware replication to the experts in this community.

  In our society, we have a vCenter Server, with 60 ESX hosts connected to 12 different locations, all locations are connected via VPN to our headquarters.

  We use replication as follows

  1 vCenter Server (5.5 Build 1378903))

  60 host ESX (5.5 Build 2068190)

  1 unit of replication at Headquarters (5.5.0 Build 1309877)

  10 servers in replication in subsidiaries (5.5.0 Build 1309877)

  Reproduce us in each subsidiary of one ESX to another (LAN) as a concept of the disaster. So, when disaster strikes, we can start the replica of the other server.

  So now, we have 11 subsidiaries and I can only install 10 VMware replication servers.

  When I use the other replication server that this subsidiary, and then all the traffic goes beyond the line of VPN (WAN) and impact on users and the speed of the line.

  There is no option, because the lines are between 0.5 and 20 Mbps. And replication is local, so why copy differentials twice via the VPN!

  We have no RS, only the functionality of replication VMware included.

  How can I get more then 10 replication servers?

  Install the second vCenter and get 10 more?

  Buy the big brother of MRS?

  The limit is 10 VR devices by vCenter (independent of the use of connected mode) so an extra vCenter allow you to deploy a device VR on your 11th site (and 9 more in the future).
