only a single NIC on esxi

I have found that a single network adapter on esx and when I can't add another as this image can someone help me add another network card11.jpg

I found the solution

the problem that I have added the ethernet with type (host or vmnet) .these two cases do not appear if you need added new virtual ethernet.

the solution only add the NAT of ethernet type.

Thanks for your effort

I have an ESX 3.5 server that I intend to upgrade to vSphere 4 and at the same time, move it to a facility of co-location in which I have only a single NIC attachment to the internet and not other computers to manage.

Let me start by saying that I'm not an expert with ESX, so my experience is strictly local storage of basic configurations, no HBA.  I know that under older versions of ESX (2.x and I think that 3.0)  I'm not sure 3.5) you need to configure the Service Console on a separate NETWORK adapter from the NETWORK adapter used by the virtual machines.  Is this always true?  Where can I configure the Console Service and vNIC on the same interface, and manage the server remotely and allow the virtual machine to interface with the internet on the same subnet?

I am also curious to know if the service console is encrypted.  I think it is, but I want to make sure.

    1. you can use the same network adapter to virtual machines and Console of Service, no need to separate.

    2. you can use the same subnet of the VMs to the Service Console

    3. communications between the Client and an ESX Vi3/vSphere are encrypted SSL.

If it is internet available, consider making a strengthening of security as described here:

    http://www.VMware.com/files/PDF/vi35_security_hardening_wp.PDF

ESX 3.5 is, but you can read to apply it to the vSphere. There are several papers on communities as to this subject.

  • ESXi on EMC e 3100 failover with only a single switch

I have 2 hosts ESXi, I need cluster around an EMC e 3100 (NFS data warehouses).

-This client has only a single gigabit switch.

-Guests have a nic four ports and a double network card port each

-E has 2 SPS with 2 port on each SP

-The lonely gigabit network switch will be 2 VLANS configured, one for management, one for traffic to the virtual machine.

What is the best way I can configure a vSwitch accommodation VMkernel to switch to this NFS configuration?  I know that there is a single point of failure at the level of the switch.

I would benefit by choosing iSCSI?  No necessary RDM LUN...

    This isn't a bad design.

You can certainly make an etherchannel and it will help your flow.

    Hi team,

I have an Intel Server Motherboard S3210SHLC, now I installed VMware ESX 3.5. In the configuration in the network part, I can only see 1 NIC card. How can I find the 2 nd NIC card, that is how it can be possible. GUi based or CLI based. Whatever it is would do it. Please guide.

  • Adding a NIC to ESXi 4

    Hello

I'm experimenting with ESXi 4, and I just tried to add a network adapter to a host. It is a Netgear GA311 gigabit card that I just picked up at staples. Never checked the HCL list, but this is just a test on the old hardware, in any way, so I wasn't expecting everything to be completely perfect.

I checked a driver on http://downloads.VMware.com/d/info/datacenter_downloads/vmware_vsphere_4/4#drivers_tools and does not see my card. So, if my card is not a pilot, I'm out of luck? Is there a generic driver I can use. I am not concerned to obtain 100% of the performance of this card. In fact, I do not yet really on performance at this stage. I just want to see if I can assign an additional NIC to a VM on the host and let others related to the integrated card.

If there is any way I can set it up as a generic NIC, which would save the trouble to return it and get a card in the HCL.

    Thank you

    John

If the NETWORK adapter is not on the HCL, then chances are you either GROUND or have a LOT of hunting and fiddling in front of you. Even in this case, there is not that big a chance to get NETWORK card to work, all the... HCL tells you when the drivers for the NETWORK adapter are actually INCLUDED in the ESX/ESXi to build. That's what you REALLY want... While you can add material to an ESX/ESXi version/version that comes out after the build is released via the drivers available from the VMware site, there is really no "generic" drivers that work with ESX/ESXi. Put as simply as possible, ESX/ESXi is a term OS so drivers for Windows, or versions of Linux, do not work. ESX has a Console Service that is installed as part of the installation which is based on a distribution of Linux, but even this is severely modified...

You are the best solution would be to return this netgear card and pick up one that is on the HCL liberation of ESXi, you intend to use. I assure you that HCL has the NIC listed for more than just an ESXi 4, make sure that it is also the ESXi 4.1 list so that you are not looking to do it all over again when you go to 4.1...

The best maps, in my opinion, are those of Intel (and are on the HCL). Of course, you want to Go, and I would opt for a dual-port NETWORK adapter if it isn't a quad port.

Go ahead, watch the official HCL for the equipment before buy you them. If it is not listed, I wouldn't buy it... Chances are, places like staples will have points you can use. You'll end up their order online, or go to a shop that can special for you order material (if they don't already have server in stock class equipment)... Single NIC Gb should run you in the range $30 + with double NETWORK card port running up to $150... I know it may seem like a lot, but they rank real Server NIC, NOT just for any old office... Class/category server equipment is held to a MUCH higher level that you slap in your average office (or even a high quality desktop computer)... The next closest series would be class workstation (true) material. I am referring to those who are taking double, powered with four memory slots server class processor (usually 8 +).

BTW, a QUICK search in the section of VMware HCL IO devices using the version of ESX/ESXi 4.1, name of partner: Intel and Type: network, gave 85 hits... Some of those who are for 10 GB of NETWORK card, but there are a lot of 1 GB NIC that is completely compatible with ESX/ESXi 4.1 as well as the 4.0 versions (and many of them indicating compatibility with the old reelases). Begin to track down those listed on sites like newegg.com until you find one you like (number of prizes and the port)...

Personally, I use a double and a port quad Intel GB NIC (the two server level) inside my ESXi 4.1 home host... Yes, they were NOT cheap (~ $400 for the quad, $150 - $200 for the two), but stability and performance to make the expense worth it... Not to mention how long they are supposed to last, even during the long sessions of I/O high.

  • Support Quad port PCiE NIC to ESXi 3.5 Installable U3

I have a Dell 2900 III which works very well with ESXi via onboard network cards.

I need to add additional ports and hoped to do quad port NIC to get the most bang by the extension slot. Problem is that I can't find.  I checked the HCL, and it seems that ESXi supports only NICs to double port.  Is this the case?  Can anyone out there tell me if they have quad port NIC with ESXi, and if so, what model?

    See you soon.

Quad-port NIC Intel are actually two dual-port chips on one card.  It should work fine.

  • 2 slots for ram, or I can use only a single slot?

    Hello..

IV ' e bought 8 GB of ram for my MBP 2012 has 4 GB of memory.

But I totally forgot that she has 2 slots for ram!

so you can use only a single slot? or I have to buy another ram?

    Thankss

For best performance Mac need pairs of corresponding RAM modules, swap or buy more is recommended all things being equal. I would however expect sentencing of incompatibility performance much smaller than the benefit of the upgrade beyond 4 GB, so you could run with 8 GB in a slot and the original 2 GB in one for 10 GB total installed.

  • Omen of HP 15: Wifi stop working. Win10 shows only a single network and it connects to the WiFi

    Hi guys,.
Since a few days my wifi stopped working.
If I click the Wifi icon it shows only a SINGLE NETWORK (two maximum), but not mine!

And I live in a building of 20 + networks, as you can see on the WiFi Analyzer (I'm the only red to the right)

If I reactive / disable Wifi with fn + f12, it goes back in plane and Wifi mode mode and sees it eventually all networks:

My Wifi is on top. If it is registered, Windows connects to it and then she abandons the connection; If it is not registered, and I try to connect, it says "you are not able to connect to this network.
Is fun is that after a few seconds, each network disappears and alone is shown (probably the one next door... I don't know).

I already tried to RESET the laptop MATERIAL by keeping the power button for 10-15 seconds with the laptop is turned off.
I tried to follow these instructions (http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04649175) updated drivers (Intel 18.12.0.3, 18.12.1.2, 18.30.0.9 [10 default Windows], 18.32.0 [last drivers]) without success. Whenever I have install a new driver, I uninstalled the earlier software Wireless + restart.

I tried to uncheked "allow this computer to turn off this device to save power" on my settings of Wifi hardware without success.

HP network support said that I did not choose a Wifi (really? The problem is that I do not see my Wifi on the list!).

This is unrelated to a new 10 Windows upgrade since I installed it months ago and this is the first time I have this problem :/ It has always worked

    I tried different settings too:
I changed the channel, I put 802.11 g on my router, APSD off on the router.
I put "Magic off packet, QoS ad hoc off, U-APSD off, fat wide channel, differential flow mode HT off" on the creation of the map without success. Nothing chaned.

The hardware test detects any failure.

Important note: If I close the router, it shows my network connection with full power and he connects to it. Then I come back in my room (probably 3/4 meters away), it MAINTAINS the connection for 30 / 40 min and he drops the connection and I cannot reconnect to it more. It has always worked perfectly in my room during these months (I bought it in March 2015), so the distance is not a problem, I'm 6 / 7 m away from the router.
In this case, it shows my network (connected) and the nearby... and the other 20 networks +?

The only way I have is USB tethering with my Nexus 5.

Linux: I tried the WiFi on Freya elementary (Ubuntu linux OS base) and it displays 20 + networks available on the list. He has not the connection problem with my Wifi, but sometimes it stops working, Web pages stop loading and I have to restart Wifi to reconnect to the it (usually after 30/40 min of use it).

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What is the problem? My Wifi card is broken? Should I call Italian support or if you have any suggestions?

    WAWood,
    I took a risk.
I did a factory restore with recovery HP (I have a drive dedicated for her)... and it worked!
I had to switch from Win8.1 to 10, but the Wifi problem is solved!

I'm still guessing that was the problem...

Now, I'm under Intel drivers 18.30.0.9 worm and all the networks work.

In the next few days I'm checking the linux problem (reset deleted primary partition).

  • Strange double NAT, although there is only a single router

My ISP (RCN) changed my modem at a speed greater than one.  Although a router built-in, I told them that I didn't use their router, only my Time Capsule, so they disabled.  However, my Time Capsule kept gives me an error message Double NAT and amber flashing against Green, even though everything seemed to work (wireless and wired) and said that I should switch DHCP and NAT to bridge mode.  Correction of the error, but I do not understand what caused the Double NAT if there is only a single router.  The ISP Technical Support people confirmed their control center is not the router feature on in the new modem, I ask.  They also said that their network supports DHCP, although they have other who use the Bridge Mode, although they do not support.   And they knew nothing about it, he said to ask Apple.  They also offered to switch back, but because this modem is faster at the same price.  (He called a bypass gateway 3-in-1).  Many people online told not to use his router, it's why I unplug it and only use the time Capsule.

So if someone can give me feedback, I'd appreciate it. I must:

    1. keep running the new modem and my Time Capsule in Bridge Mode.

    2. run the new modem in DHCP mode, as they put in place and do not worry Time Capsule seeing amber / flashing Double NAT error.

3 swap back to the previous modem, which was 50 Mbps against it with (theoretically) 155 Mbit/s (it's only works in 50-70).

I'm not really all that, but I hope that one of you maybe.  Thank you!!!

Although a router built-in, I told them that I didn't use their router, only my Time Capsule, so they disabled.

ISPS often make the mistake of simply turn off the radio on a modem/router...which service does not disable the router function of the device. You still have a wired router when ISPS are making this mistake.

However, my Time Capsule kept giving me an error message Double NAT

This confirms again that the ISP has not disabled the function of the router to your modem/router.  On some modems/routers or gateways, it is not possible to get the device to act as a simple modem.

The ISP Technical Support people confirmed their control center is not the router feature on in the new modem, I ask.

The fact remains that you wouldn't see a Double NAT error unless the ISP system acted as a router... Despite what people of PSI say. You may need to get a 2nd or 3rd person-level support, who knows what they are doing.

    1. keep running the new modem and my Time Capsule in Bridge Mode.

Yes, if you want to avoid the mistake of NAT Double... what you are doing. But, the time Capsule will not be your router.  The device of the ISP will be.

    2. run the new modem in DHCP mode, as they put in place and do not worry Time Capsule seeing amber / flashing Double NAT error.

This only if you willing to accept the fact that the ISP did not correctly change your gateway to make it work as a simple modem only.  You might be able to get away with a Double NAT error on a simple network, but there is no reason more complicate things with a misconfiguration in unless whether there are a few reasons to do it and it can't be avoided.

3 swap back to the previous modem, which was 50 Mbps against it with (theoretically) 155 Mbit/s (it's only works in 50-70).

Your decision if you want to run a simple modem with time Capsule, or accept the fact that the time Capsule won't have your router when it is configured in Bridge Mode, or you see a Double NAT error on the network.

If it were me, I would go back to what I know will work properly... the simple modem and time Capsule as the router.

You must buy a second video card or replace the one you have

I got a new hard drive in my computer and the old a subscribed.  I then had to reinstall Windows XP Pro.  In disk management, it shows only a single hard drive and it's C, but it lists the size than what my old drive was that I took out.  The new shows of unallocated hard disk without a drive letter and has a black bar above it. How do I show my new hard drive that is 1 TB instead of one that was a 250 GB is not yet in my computer.

    Hi Reta,

    ·         The drive appears like 250 GB even if it's a terabyte?

    ·         Is the remaining 750Go showing as unallocated disk space?

It is not recommended to run two anti-virus programs at the same time.  It will make the System unstable, crashes, slow performance and so on.  It is better to use a program that you trust on a regular basis and if you want to double check this program, use a parser in line one of the main websites AV.

Continue_load can only be used with direct path, unconventional path.  You must specify the record terminator and terminator of field, which is the same when your data are only a single column.  Please see the example below.  As for your digital problem, as you can see, it does not reproduce below.  Your problem could be due to many things.  He might try to read something else that what you think, he tries to read, because of something else being wrong.  It is possible that you need to use:

(msisdn "to_number (ltrim (rtrim (: msisdn)))")

to remove the leading and trailing spaces and convert it to a number.  You must provide a copy and pasting a full example, as I did below.

    -loading_data.dat content:

    233207332711 233208660745 233200767380

    -control_file_name.ctl:

  • Export only a single layer as an image without hiding the other layers?

I know I can just do a single visible layer, and then save PNG, for example . But my question is: I have to do all the other layers in order to save invisibile only my one layer as image? Or is there a way to record only a single layer (or a few at a time) without hiding the rest of them?

If you have Photoshop CC, you can use the new Adobe generator to export single layers without worrying about the other layer visibility.

If you do not have CC or you do not use the generator, you must either turn off layers or fooled into a new document. Photoshop itself cannot save a single layer in a document of several layer.
