    Backups within the recovery window can be removed or

    RMAN will remove backups within the recovery window?

    If you issue a DELETE, rman cannot stop or prevent you. It will allow you to delete the backups, even the last backup taken 1 minute ago, even when there is no other backup.

    The retention window only to rman control * auto * deletion of backups - backups obsolete because they are beyond the retention window.

  • Backup of the recovery file, but will not write (well tested) USB

    Yesterday ran backup file recovery in the HP Recovery Manager. Got to the end, but USB key was too small - had to cancel the program and buy another USB key last night.

    Today the program is completely but allow me not to click 'Next', so it will write to new (good) USB.

    Is there a file (log or something) that should be deleted, so I can get this backup done? How can this program be so simple that it does not recognize that it has already completed the backup file?

    Quite frustrated with that. Does anyone have a solution?

    Thank you

    Figured this out - FINALLY!

    Once the backup of the recovery file is complete, select the drive that you want to send to and GO!

    I had to manually some files (Mozilla Thunderbird) which had too long names for the file recovery program backup of backup files.

    Now the problem card Microsoft ISATAP.

    Hello

    My laptop is Qosmio F20

    After installing my OS using the recovery CD, I created more partitions... now, I have 5 partitions.
    Now I want to reinstall my OS on the C: where there already exist right now but I would like to format the C: partition until I use the "expert installation"...
    How can I do?

    Also, if I used the 'expert' facility that gives me the option to choose which partition I like to use. He reformatted the partition before installing or it is it will be overwritten?

    Thank you some much in advance.

    As far as I know the partition will be formatted quickly at first and then the recovery image is installed.

  • Only RMAN backup, restore the temporary files?

    DB version: 11.2
    Operating system platform: Solaris 10

    Can RMAN backup and restore temp files?
    I'm to recreate a database in a new server, when restoring, it's recommended to restore a temporary RMAN backup file? (if Rman can indeed save and restore temporary files). Or is it better to manually create temporary files in the new server?

    N ° RMAN does not backup TEMPFILEs. (so it does not restore them).
    You can not even explicitly issue a command to BACKUP for TEMPFILEs.

    The TEMPORARY file is re-created automatically when you OPEN the database - it is created at the location specified in the controlfile.

  • What is the recommendation on the backup of a recovery catalog?

    While I understand "benefits of using recovery catalog as the RMAN Repository ' as described in

    http://download-UK.Oracle.com/docs/CD/B10501_01/server.920/a96566/rcmquick.htm#442214

    as well as things to note if you are using the unique control as the rman repository file,

    as described in "Monitoring the overwhelming control file Records" in http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/server.920/a96566/rcmrepos.htm#446924

    I do not understand why in Backup and Recovery Advanced User Guide
    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/B14117_01/server.101/B10734/rcmrepos.htm

    "Save often Recovery Catalog"

    Even if you need to restore the recovery catalog database by using a backup control file, you can use full backups folder in your catalog database restored recovery to restore the database target without using a backup of the target database control file.

    = > implies without doubt that we can use a different catalog of recovery we'll call it backupbackup to restore the recovery catalog

    "Choose the appropriate method for physical backups.

    Follow these steps when developing a strategy for RMAN backup to the recovery catalog database:

    * Run in ARCHIVELOG mode recovery catalog database so that you can do point-in-time recovery if necessary.
    * Set the retention policy to REDUNDANCY greater than 1.
    * Save the database on two separate media (for example, disks and tapes).
    * Run the base BACKUP of DATA PLUS ARCHIVELOG at regular intervals, to a Media Manager if available, or simply to drive.
    * Do not use a different catalog recovery as a repository for backups. = > This is in contradiction with the previous declaration
    * Set up automatic backup of control file on IT.

    so can I know what is the recommendation on the backup of a recovery catalog? should I use another recovery catalog to keep deposits from rman of the main primary catalog or simply use a feature of automatic backup of control file?

    Thank you

    To Catalog backup recovery, it is recommended to enable autobackup controlfile ON and save in nocatalog mode (IE without another recovery catalog).

    The doc States that: "even if you have to restore the database catalog of recovery using a backup control file, you can then use the full record of backups in your database to catalog recovery restored to restore the target database without using a backup of the target database control file.".

    What this means, is-
    The target database backup files are stored in the recovery catalog schema tables, not in the controlfile recovery catalog. When you are using a control file backup and restores them recover from the recovery catalog database, you won't lose target database backup files.

    When you explicitly specify a FORMAT in the BACKUP command as

    allocate channels c1 device type disk format "+ RECO_EXP/%U";

    you write the assessment, but in a directory that is "similar" to the FRA. According to Oracle is concerned, the backup does NOT go to the recovery area.
    Do NOT use a FORMAT if you wish as backups to be written to the FRA.

    If you want to have 24 hours of archived recovery writes to the disk, you can ignore the backup in the same sequence over and over by configuring RMAN backup optimization. Then RMAN ignore archived redo logs that has already been backed up.

    Note configuration of backup optimization also ignores "identical data files" which has already been backed up as well. http://docs.Oracle.com/CD/E11882_01/backup.112/e10642/rcmconfb.htm#BRADV113

    Another way would be to edit your script a little

    run

    Your format mask is incorrect. You don't have a backupset number and a number of inside backup piece.

    If the number of backup files exceeds the filesperset number that will create a new piece of backup. When you do that, you will get the error you are looking for in the documentation.
    In order to complete your "requirement", you would either need to set filesperset to a very high number, or know the amount of archivelogs beforehand.
    This would be the subject of RMAN to automate all obsolete. As rman will automatically process the correct backup items, the "requirement" to do everything in a single piece of backup serves no useful purpose.

    Hello

    We have the oracle 10.2.0.2 database that is being backed up online every day, we want to have a minimal loss of data in case of failure of a comprehensive support (including the control/Redo/data files & Archivelogs).
    CRD files in an ASM diskgroup and Archivelogs are FRA, which is in an another ASM diskgroup.
    The two start meet normal redundancy, God forbid if full happens of the failure of a support and loss of all the CRD & Archivelogs, we must rely on the backup to the recovery process, but we have a full online backup at night and if we have an accident DB at 2 PM, then we need to get up to this time , but we won't archivelogs which were after the online backup, so we want to plan backups periodicals archivelog minumum for data loss.

    I know that a full recovery not won't happen if you lose Controlfile & current redolog file, but by taking the archivelogs backup we will reduce the loss of data.

    To achieve this, I tried to run the backup as the commands below.

    backup format ' % s: % t: %p orcl_ > .dbf ' archivelog not saved 1 time; does not work.

    RMAN > run {}
    allocate channel 'dev_0' type disk
    SQL 'alter system archive log current';
    backup format ' % s: % t: %p orcl_ > .dbf ' archivelog not saved 1 time;
    }

    See the error message you got:

    syntax error: 'no': expected an of: "all, of, like, high logseq, low, SNA, sequence, time, up to the.

    'ALL' or 'FROM' or 'LIKE' etc must follow the keyword 'ARCHIVELOG.

    For example, the command would be

    backup format 'orcl_%s:%t:%p.dbf' archivelog all not backed up 1 times'

    (I wonder why you have the sign "superior to" in the format specifier)

  • HP 450-011: delete the recovery partition after upgrade to win 10?

    I have a new HP 450-011 and it came with Win 8.1 and the recovery with the letter D: drive partition.  I did the upgrade to windows 10.  I made a set of recovery DVD for win installation 8.1.  Is there a reason for me not to delete the D: drive and replace it with my information?  I seriously doubt I'll want to roll back to 8.1 Win.

    Greetings,

    Have you tested the Win 8.1 HP Recovery disks before installing Win 10?

    A question is: If you need technical assistance from HP tech for a possible hardware problem. HP normally requires that the factory installed operating system to take in charge. This policy of HP may have changed during the upgrade to win 10. I do not suspect.

    You can export the recovery, Partition because it will not work now in any case.

    But you need a way to go back to win 8.1 when you need HP warranty support.

    Since you have already upgraded to Win 10, the only way to check the recovery of 8.1 Win disks is to use them and start all over again. Or the support of disks/USB recovery HP Win 8.1 on a new equivalent or larger HDD or SSD. A good installation means that you have now the factory install on this disk.

    It's a lot of work.

    The problem of guaranteed support is your problem.

    I have eliminated this problem by installing Win 10 on a new SSD. I have HP Win 8.1 on a separate SSD and win 10 on a different SSD. Possible guarantee problem solution means earn 8.1 running on HP SSD factory to check the problem of winning 10 SSD.
