What is the recommendation on the backup of a recovery catalog?
While I understand "benefits of using recovery catalog as the RMAN Repository ' as described inhttp://download-UK.Oracle.com/docs/CD/B10501_01/server.920/a96566/rcmquick.htm#442214
as well as things to note if you are using the unique control as the rman repository file,
as described in "Monitoring the overwhelming control file Records" in http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/server.920/a96566/rcmrepos.htm#446924
I do not understand why in Backup and Recovery Advanced User Guide
http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/B14117_01/server.101/B10734/rcmrepos.htm
"Save often Recovery Catalog"
Even if you need to restore the recovery catalog database by using a backup control file, you can use full backups folder in your catalog database restored recovery to restore the database target without using a backup of the target database control file.
= > implies without doubt that we can use a different catalog of recovery we'll call it backupbackup to restore the recovery catalog
"Choose the appropriate method for physical backups.
Follow these steps when developing a strategy for RMAN backup to the recovery catalog database:
* Run in ARCHIVELOG mode recovery catalog database so that you can do point-in-time recovery if necessary.
* Set the retention policy to REDUNDANCY greater than 1.
* Save the database on two separate media (for example, disks and tapes).
* Run the base BACKUP of DATA PLUS ARCHIVELOG at regular intervals, to a Media Manager if available, or simply to drive.
* Do not use a different catalog recovery as a repository for backups. = > This is in contradiction with the previous declaration
* Set up automatic backup of control file on IT.
so can I know what is the recommendation on the backup of a recovery catalog? should I use another recovery catalog to keep deposits from rman of the main primary catalog or simply use a feature of automatic backup of control file?
Thank you
To Catalog backup recovery, it is recommended to enable autobackup controlfile ON and save in nocatalog mode (IE without another recovery catalog).
The doc States that: "even if you have to restore the database catalog of recovery using a backup control file, you can then use the full record of backups in your database to catalog recovery restored to restore the target database without using a backup of the target database control file.".
What this means, is-
The target database backup files are stored in the recovery catalog schema tables, not in the controlfile recovery catalog. When you are using a control file backup and restores them recover from the recovery catalog database, you won't lose target database backup files.

In other words if all lines are configured to synchronize, and the backup is set to HH replaces desktop, doing just that this backup drives?
I don't know if I ask myself the question of the right way... I'm just not understand how it is different from that of the rest of the ducts, and when he "gets used."
It must always be defined pocket computer replaces desktop, the only circumstance when you'd the other's hard you reset your device and everything restore on your device.

Both of the above are options in my file of ThinkVantage. I asked Lenovo (Atlanta?) and uh... they did not either.

What is the cable of data recovery?
With my flame came a wire called 'data '. What is the difference with a normal Micro USB cable? Is it connected differently?
I noticed that when I connect to my flame using a standard Micro USB cable, then it behaves funny. I saw him restart spontaneously, and also saw him plug and unplug several times. With the cable of data recovery, connections appear to be stable, but I wonder why. The Keon has worked well with a standard Micro USB cable.
Hi Fekle,
I'm not sure what the difference is in the cable of data recovery. For me, when I use this cable to recharge, my camera flame has strangely, sometimes requires me to remove the battery before restarting the unit.
I had written to T2M asking how to use the wire and this was their response:
Please follow the instruction below to rescue the phone.
Firstly, we send a Recovery Cable with RED label with Flame phone, which is placed outside of Flame package. Please make sure that you have it.
Secondly, please download Emergency rescue tool from http://cds.w5v8t3u9.hwcdn.net/Flame%20Rescue%20Tool.zip, unzip it, run Flame.exe and follow the attached PPT instruction to start the rescue.

What is the Vista Home hp_ recovery disk
My HP laptop with Vista Home, has a disk of 10 GB (e) called HP_Recovery, with 9.24 GB used space
On the disc, he has a record of recovery, that when I hover over it tells me that it has been changed in September 2007.
If I double click on it I thought that the folder is empty, but if I look in the properties I tells me that there are 4 files and folders 0.
So, where's the 9.24 GB that contains the files and how are they used?
Does somewone please explain it to me please
Thank you

What is the size of your recovery Partition?
Hi all
I am running with active FileVault 10.9.5 (mid 2014 retina MacBook Pro 2.2 GHz, 16 GB RAM, stock Apple SSD). At one point, I had a 650 MB recovery Partition on my internal SSD (I'm sure it was a previous iteration of 10.9). At one point, he went to 1.03 GB. Was - it due to an update or maybe something wrong? So I would like to know what size your RP is if you run 10.9.5.
Also, I have several Carbon Copy Cloner backup on external hard drives; We started as a SuperDuper! backup and it has a 1.30 GB RP (exactly 2 x the size of a RP 650; a coincidence?). Another also began as a backup of the SD was changed to a backup of the CCC and has a PR of 650 MB. Another was created from the beginning using the CCC and its creator RP; its size is 784,2 MB. So, I want to see if one is 'correct' or if it is normal to have different sizes of RP.
To find the size of your RP, go to utilities > system information > material > SATA/SATA Express and look down where it says "Recovery HD."
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

What is the best choice, factory recovery Vista, or upgrade to windows 7?
Hi everyone, my hp Pavilion a610t/Vista premium, 2.2 G cpu, 3 G ram is begginning to get slow and my registry has been damaged (my cd player does not work because the driver does not not despite all troubleshooting, will not read SD card, task manager blocks and other minor problems that I could continue... etc...) I have 2 years from the end of my studies and need a reliable free trouble PC bu cannot afford to buy a new PC now. What would be the best solution? total factory using recovery disc/Vista OS restore or upgrade OS set to windows 7? I heard windows7 is allot more reliable and trouble free but do not know if my system would work well considering its specifications. Factory restore would give me a new start but eventually vista will act up and is no longer supported... Any advice would be welcome, I'm strictly amateur, and it would make by a Tech unless, its worth trying to fix my problems, but don't know where to start.
Thank you, Alan

zip files
I used the backup and restore of the backup C on pc. Then tried to open the files saved with IE. IE went into free fall. ???I have no idea what opened the backup files when you have double-clicked, or if you will not quote you took after doing this... However, the official way to 'Browse' the content of the backup...
You can view the contents of your backup by opening the wizard to restore files.
Open backup and restore by clicking on the button start , clicking Control Panel, clicking system and Maintenance and then click Backup and restore.
Do one of the following:
To view your files, click Restore my files.
To display files all the, click on restore files for all users. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
Do one of the following:
To browse the contents of the backup, click Browse for files or click Browse for folders.
When you browse folders, you will not be able to see the files in a folder. To view individual files, use her browse for files option.
To search the contents of the backup, click search, type all or part of a file name, and then click search.
If you back up to the top PC (VHD) integer then you mifght consider this trick:
http://www.Petri.co.il/mounting-Vista-backups-using-Windows-complete-PC-Backup.htmAccording to the edition of Windows Vista that you have (and how useful, you will find the possibility to look at old versions of a given file and possibly restore), this could be useful to you:
http://www.ShadowExplorer.com/
(not a replacement of relief.)With regard to the rate of success vs. failure rate of backup - it is difficult to measure. Indeed most of the people backs up incorrectly. It's really * not * enough to set a backup and forget about it. If you test ever that your backups work/glance to see if you are backing up the good thing - it's just not wise. Although most people expect that it is essential that the backups were working properly (not a test, a real emergency) to be discovered. Most individuals who report failures, unfortunately, fall into this category "when my aircraft crashed and I went to my backups - it turns out _ backup _ does not and never told me...» ».
A question... If you manually create a ZIP file (not a backup) - can you still Explorer in it as a folder?
To test... Create a folder on your desktop. Copy some files into it - of different types. I say COPY and not MOVE on the goal here - because you can just blow this folder and all that results from this folder later if it was all fair copies of things.
Make a right click on this folder and choose "send to" and "compress (ZIP) file and give a name to the new 'folder '. (It's really a file.) On your desktop, you should have the original folder you created and copied some stuff in, and a new "folder" with the name you just gave. If you open the 'new' folder - you should see the name of the folder that is still on the desktop and go to this folder, you should see the files. You literally use Windows Vista to the 'discovery' inside a ZIP file as if it were a folder.

Now I want to restore the last backup of the database:
I googled and found this article: How do to restore database Oracle using RMAN (with examples) but do not know what is:
RMAN > SET DBID 12345;
Question-1: Which means the VALUE XE 1521 in my case?
Question-2: Lbooking for a restore script
It will be the first time in my career to restore the database
Thank you in anticipation
I guess that the following be useful: Oracle Database 11g: example of disaster recovery. When you restore a database from scratch, you need to know and define the DBID to identify the files required for the restoration, which must also match your target database, which is the database or the instance that you want to restore.

That includes the support of product recovery cd?
Hello
I just bought a new Toshiba Satellite U400/03 s today and I was wondering what includes the cd of "product recovery media"? Is this the same as the windows recovery cd + all re-installers driver? Oh, and since my laptop has installed windows vista professional, but the recovery media allows for me to downgrade to windows XP pro, the cd of "product recovery media" would include both windows (vista AND xp)?
Thank you!
Hello
I assume you have the Australian cell phone model. I don't know with certainty how notebooks are configured here, but in General, all new laptops are delivered without recovery media.
You must create a recovery using 'Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator' media. It's a small tool preinstalled on your laptop and use this tool, you can create recovery DVDs Vista. This DVD you can use for the installation of Vista more far. You can use it so often desired.
As far as I know, some laptop models are also supported for Windows XP Home edition and some laptops come with separate recovery WXP media. So you can use Vista (factory settings) and you can also install additional Windows XP Home edition, using this recovery media. Before anything please create recovery DVDs Vista.
Sorry, but I can't say with certainty what is in this DVD.
Can you please send what is written on it? -
Hello guys, we need your advice :),
do you know what is the recommended size of repository to store backups of logs of ACS SNS-3415-K9 (v5.4.0.46.0a software)?
We intend to create an FTP server to record a monthly full backup and an incremental backup daily.
We would like to consider the worst case in which ACS View Database is complete and a full backup is required and daily incremental backups.
In the second period, we would appreciate really any advice on how to maintain, say, only the last 2 full backups and all the related incremental backups in the FTP server, is there a way to automate the removal of the oldest backup when a new backup is generated?
Thanks in advance!
Hi Rodrigo,
Honestly, there is not a suggested size of space available to FTP/SFTP server used as the size of your backups of data base of progressive and complete view depend on 100% of the amount of newspapers ACS server receives every day, so what I would suggest to take a look at a couple of incremental for 2 consecutive days and would help you to determine what would be the amount that you need for a period of 30 days (one month).
And associated with your concern if the ACS would supports the option to manually maintain the last 2 full backups view, unfortunately, it is not available as an option.

My Clickfree automatic backup drive I had for many years stopped working with my iMac, what is the best replacement to use with Time Machine.
I can't even reformat the drive to try to start over, then think its time I invested in a high today but don't know where start looking so any advise would be a great help.
Thank you guys
A lot of users on these forums recommend OWC (www.macsales.com) Mercury Elite Pro series JEP due to their durability, affordability and quality of construction. I have about 6 of them connected to my iMac and have never had a speaker to fail. When a hard drive fails, substitute is a 5-minute process to re - use the box. To help you get started, you can find the line to: https://eshop.macsales.com/shop/firewire/1394/USB/EliteAL/eSATA_FW800_FW400_USB
You can find them in various ways and with a variety of configurations of connection so you can find the one that best fits your needs.
Good luck!
