  So, after the upgrade to El Capitan on my iMac, retina pro, I started to have problems with the mac that freezes all the time (yesterday, couldn't work because it freezes a few minutes after opening--more than 10 times).

  First of all, remember that's where people go when they are in trouble.  Problems so is all you will see here, even though the update was 99.99% bulletproof, you would see only people with problems here.

  That said - anecdotal - it seems that there are a few key questions that keep popping up.  Upgrade/validation of the library of e-mail seems to be one of them for a number of people, for example.  John Gruber has even mentioned problems with the last update of El Cap for example (associated with mail again), and is not a common thing.

• Chrome does not open in El Capitan, fine in Safe Mode

  Here are a few steps you need to take before moving on to the latest version of Mac OS X.

  First, run the software update or the App Store and install all the updates available for the operating system you have now. The system must be in good working condition.   If I get a new drive and start all over again, I'll be able to reinstall my programs purchased in the app store? The only thing I have right now is Logic Pro. On a PC right now and not can't find anyway to see my purchase history. Checked apple.com and shows no purchase for 90 days, so I guess I need to check through to iTunes or the mac app store for really?

  App store apps are linked to your Apple ID.  Change the HARD drive will not affect your ability to access these applications.

  It sounds that a new HARD disk is in order.
