Optional language packs disappeared in Windows update, how to recover?
Just got my new computer with Windows 7 Ultimate edition. I went in Windows update, which at the time contained both Important and updated optional update. I downloaded and installed all the updates first, without any problem.
Then, I looked through the optional updates and saw he had a couple of updates related to my hardware (screen, sound card, video card), as well as 30 language packs or more. I decided to download and install the related materials updated first. During the installation of one of them, I got the blue screen of death.
I waited until restarted Windows and reopen Windows Update. I notice all the optional updates have gone - all language packs have disappeared! Not even in the location of "hidden" updates Is it possible to recover?
Hello
Step 1: Determine if the update has been installed
To view the history of installation, follow these steps:
a. Click Start, point to all programs and then click Windows Update or Microsoft Update.
b. on the Web site, click on view update history.
c. find the latest entry for the specific update.
d. Note the color of the icon in the status column. If the icon is green, the update has been installed. If the icon is red, the update is not installed.
Step 2: Run the Windows update utility for troubleshooting.

OK, so I just had to re - install Windows 7 on my laptop due to a disk failure (Windows 7 Home Premium SP1) and hit a brick wall with trying to turn on Microsoft Updates instead of Windows updates.
I try to click on the link "Learn more" on the bottom of the page to update on the line "Get updates for other products Microsoft." and it opens just a web page with a graphic telling me to open my Start menu and click on Windows updates.
Catch 22 is that Windows Update has no options for anything other than Windows. He won't find the updates for the office or any of the other Microsoft programs I installed and there is no option to enable it in Windows Update settings.
Exactly what I am missing, and where has Microsoft moved the activation of Microsoft Updates page too, because when I click on the link need me to http://www.update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/v6/thanks.aspx?ln=en&&thankspage=5 that makes a whole lot of nothing.
Thank you!

My hard drive crashed. It was replaced and the outside company installed the OS for me. However, I'm in a French country and they had no English operating system share so installed the french operating system without telling me. I left it as it is that I had to install my other apps in a hurry. Now, I want to change the language of the OS in English without having to reinstall the operating system. The MS help Web site gives this page with instructions: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/downloads/install-languages-with-windows-update, but I don't get the language packs when I click on "View available updates". How can I install the English language pack if she does not?
[1] relative to the first, third and fourth link: already done - the regional formats and input languages to the keyboard/are not the problem
[2] re second link: that's where I started. If you follow the links on this page, you get finally to the page I linked in my original post, above. It says select a languge in the update of Windows
If the language you want does NOT have a downloadlink on http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/downloads/languages, what you did (for example, adding input interface & English language keyboard) is ALL you can do with a Vista Home Premium French-language version.
If you want any display in English, you need to install the English Language Pack , which, as you know, is only available for Vista Ultimate computers.
Yes, it's unnecessarily confusing and convoluted but WYSIWYG, I'm afraid. You have that would be to buy an Anytime Upgrade from Vista Ultimate, (b) a Win7 Home Premium update (and then an Anytime Upgrade to Win7 Ultimate) or (c) a full-detail of a language version English version of any version of Win7... which will be probably much more expensive than buying a brand new computer with a version of English language of Win7 preinstalled (and good luck finding that in a French speaking country).
Wish I had better news for you.

Hello
read this:

you who never read another answer you completely or correctly
you have vista Home premium and the other answer correctly indicated that you can not change the display language of vista Home premium, which is what you're tryin gto
you will need to either buy a ultimate upgrade, in french, then download the English language pack, as already stated
or buy a full vista Home premium in English

Language Pack Spanish for Windows 7 Ultimate edition (English)
I have Windows 7 Ultimate (32-bit version) in English and I want to change the language to Spanish by default. I tried to download the pack of language via Windows Update some time ago but has had an error and I don't know how to download and install manually. I tried to install a lip for default language to Spanish on top of my English, but I think that there is not one available or at least could not find. I need instructions to download and manually install the Spanish language pack or a link to a LIP of the Spanish language. Thank you
Hi Ronnie,.
There is no "direct download link" on your suggested site, only a 'learn how' link that repeats that MUI language packs (unlike the lips) are only available on Windows Update. Direct download links exist (on other sites), but I would not recommend to use, the best way is to retry the download WU; If there are errors, please - alexjb88 - tell us what you got error messages. A "LIP of the Spanish language" does not exist because Spanish is not an extension of 'regional culture' of English (like the Basque or Catalan for Spanish).

grateful for pointers
You can upgrade directly from SP1 to SP3.Your system has currently no preinstalled, as trials for McAfee or Norton? It is advised to run their removal tools! Here are the links:Here are the detailed instructions for upgrading from SP1 to SP3:1. download the installation of SP3 and IE8 files. I prefer to keep these on a USB key, but this is optional. Here are the links to all the installation of three files:
http://www.Microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?ID=24 (for SP3)
http://www.Microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&ID=43 (for IE8)
And if you wish, download the Setup file of a good anti-virus program. I recommend Avira free Antivirus:
http://www.Avira.com/en/Avira-free-antivirus
2. disconnect Internet.
3. temporarily disable the automatic updates. To do this:
Start | Control Panel (switch to Classic view if not already selected). Automatic updates
4. install the SP3. Restart TWICE.
5 move to IE8. Restart TWICE.
6. install anti-virus software.
(What happens very often is that someone has their software antivirus running as they try to install SP3, which often translates into chaos! "This is why it must be done after installing SP3 and IE).
7. make sure that firewall Windows is activated (it should be).
(Now you can physically reconnect to the Internet. Update Antivirus program.)
8 visit Windows Update to download and install only the critical security updates. Restart each time you are prompted.
9. reactivate the automatic updates.
After the back if you need guidance.

Impossible to install Vista Service Pack 1 through Windows Update
Hello
Recently I had to reinstall windows vista home premium 32 bit on my old acer aspire laptop. I did a "clean install", all was well with this operation. I had to install a large number of various updates after doing, now I am notified via windows update vista service pack 1 is available for download/installation. When I try to perform this action, I get a popup window that informs me of what to know before installing sp1, then I reach a window where I have to accept the terms of the software installation. Once I click on the little square and accept the conditions, it goes to another window with two choices... install & cancel, when I click the button install... instead of windows update download and install the update, I am presented with the view of windows update, the update has been installed successfully When in fact it was not. I prefer to install sp1 via windows update, because she was supposed to be a size smaller than the stand-alone version available on microsofts website. Has anyone else had the same question, and if so how do you fix? Of course this laptop is not my main computer, but as it still works very well I continue to use it.
Thank you
David
Hello
Support for Vista without SPs is complete.
Use the standalone version for both SPS.
Click Start > right click on computer > left click on properties > see if you have Vista 32 bit or Vista 64-bit installed.
It will also tell you which SP you have installed.
Then, choose the download of 'bit' OK to use to install Service Packs, installation of SP1 first if it is not already installed.

All my applications disappeared from Windows 8 - How can I recover the
My Apps 'all' page disappeared, all the apps page is empty; in Windows 8. Why?
How to recover?
More troubleshooting led me to the exact program of Epson:
Summary of the problem: after installing the NX530 Epson Stylus printer for win 8-64 - bit, my screen driver package all THE APPS emptied and jump backward, made things unstable, such as the splash screen was bleeding and if nothing else has been opened, I could go anywhere and had to push the button reboot on my computer...
Solution: The Epson Driver pack installs 7 programs, which is the browser to download Epson. After uninstalling this program, everything was back to normal. This has happened on two different computers (one AMD, another Intel) with the same result. I tried to reinstall by itself, but it messes up WIN 8 when installed...
