Windows 7 language packs can be installed only from the section optional updates in Windows Update. However, these language packs are not available on the Server Microsoft Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) or through the Microsoft Download Center.

To download and install a language pack in Windows 7, follow these steps:

    1. Start Microsoft Update. To do this, click Start , type Microsoft Update in the Search box, and then click Microsoft Update in the programs list.
    2. Click on the links to optional update for language packs.
    3. In the category Modules language Windows 7 , select the desired language pack.

Note If you install additional language modules, system performance and disk space are affected. In particular, system performance and disk space are affected during maintenance operations, such as Service Pack installations. Therefore, we recommend that only add you a language pack to your computer if you use the language pack.

    4. Click OK, and then click install updates to start the download and installation process.

Then, I looked through the optional updates and saw he had a couple of updates related to my hardware (screen, sound card, video card), as well as 30 language packs or more.  I decided to download and install the related materials updated first.  During the installation of one of them, I got the blue screen of death.

If it isn't a Win7 Ultimate or a company computer, no language packs will be available through Windows Update.

  • I read that AFTER installing a language pack in Windows 7, some updates must be re-installed. How do you know which?

That is my question.  I just did a clean reinstall of windows 7 ultimate.

Before I did the installation, I read that I should install language packs before much updates

Because if a person installs language packs after the updates, the updates must be reinstalled.

I tried to install the language packs first, but windows update wouldn't let me.

So now I think that a lot of updates must be put back.

I looked for a list or something, but found nothing.

Can I simply rerun microsoft update?

I have everyone here knows about it, I would be grateful for advice.

It's a little tricky. One day that will put you in the position of being able to receive updates is KB3161608, but this one requires reinstallation after installation of the packs of languange. :/

Since you will need it anyway, in this case again twice, here is the link:

    https://support.Microsoft.com/en-us/KB/3161608

You will need it as a sine qua non:

    https://support.Microsoft.com/en-us/KB/3020369

requiring him also a reinstall after installing a language pack. :/

Windows Update won't let you even manually install until you set automatic updates 'Never find updates' and restart, if her search runs in the background.

    Best regards, VZ

  • Cannot download the language packs on Windows 7 Ultimate.

I got a computer with Windows 7 Ultimate so I could download the language packs, but I can't seem to bring with it no more.  The directions say to go to Windows Update, I did and that would be a statement in there about it.  There was no instructions, so I downloaded every update available.  Still no statement.  What I am doing wrong?  Thank you.

Thank you.  I had already done all that.  In fact, several times.  However, I repeated again and then rebooted the computer and repeated once again.  This time, Windows Update found more than updated.  After that, he continued to find updates whenever I want to install some and reboot until it finds another 49 updates more.  These updates included language packs.

Thanks for me direction in the right direction.  I guess I'm just not patient enough.
