Options for Non disruptive upgrades

Apart from two-way replication using Oracle Golden Gate, there are other options that can help make upgrades without interruption (upgrades with no downtime)? This question is for Oracle 12 c.

Thank you

Aerts

Hello

When you migrate a database, there is no method doesn't provide 0 time solutions.

Even in two-way replication of golden gate, you will have to do it level by level and when I consider the module by module, module should be reduced to one end OR we will terminate connection, so there are lost connection... But we can expect very close 0 solution to migration of downtime with the Golden Gate

any other method will be kept more then this downtime...

  • Graphics options for non-gamer non-artiste type

I'm trying to set up a new T400. I do not play games on my laptop, or use Photoshop or video editing or something like that.

However, I like the new windows to open quickly and I like a scroll to be fast on the web pages and Office documents, etc. Also, I would like to things like YouTube to work in the best conditions.

Should I just go for the graphic option cheaper or options more money will give me better performance for my admittedly boring use?

    Hi steve02476,

Welcome to the forum of Lenovo

I wouldn't say your boring use... remember it is a Pad of thinking. Since when is using your brain, boring? I digress...

I highly recommend the Intel graphics card integrated into you. It's pretty much fast for something other than a heavy-duty 3D (like the game or CAD). It uses much less energy, which means that it works more fees, your ThinkPad runs more silent and your battery lasts longer. And Intel has the best driver open source support Linux, if that's important to you.

The switchable graphics option is interesting, but the current implementation is wrong: I think that you must pass to the discrete chip for a digital video output via the dock's DVI port.

    See you soon,.

  • HP Pavilion g7: I would like to know if there is another option for a CPU upgrade?

As the title says I would like to know if I have a better option since the manual is outdated (may 2012)?

    This is the Manual: Manual

    Here is some info:

Name of product: notebook PC HP Pavilion g7

    Product number: B5Z48UAR #ABA

    8.1 pro 64-bit of Windows

Without the manual and the hardware are defined in time. Newer processors will not work on an older platform and the manual delivered with the introduction of the laptop goes to list compatible processors.

  • Options for my specific upgrade?

OK, we currently have three ESX 3.5 hosts who are regularly HP DL385s.  Another DL385 is used as a system of vCenter 2.5.  Around 20 or more computers spread over the three virtual.

We just bought our first blade chassis and we'll move all of our ESX host on 4 BL480 (blades).  What is the best way to address the issue?  I was considering also virtualize our vCenter since I heard a lot of people do now and Dr. purposes it's nice.

If I don't mind losing the 'statistics' the old vcenter can I set up a new virtual machine and install vSphere Center on it and then attach all ESX existing hosts to it without worrying about messing around with the VirtualCenter 2.5?

    Thank you.

If you want to lose your stats so what you describe is a perfect way to migrate to new hardware, as well as to move to vSphere - don't know if you saw this document - http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vsphere4/r40/vsp_40_upgrade_guide.pdf

  • Best Option for 4.1U1 to 4.1U3 upgrade

I have ESXi 4.1 update 1 currently installed (vSphere Hypervisor). We do not vCenter.

I'm trying to find the best option for the upgrade of the hypervisor, ESXi 4.1 U1 to ESXi 4.1 U3. I must:

1 using the Installable version, and once installation is complete, restore the configuration settings using a configuration file saved with PowerCLI?

    2. use a version upgrade from 4.1 U3 with vihostupdate?

If I go with #2, which download do I need? Thanks for your help. I'm reading the tutorials, but some of it is particularly unclear, in particular upgrade options (rather than clean install) I like to do it if possible.

    Welcome on it community.

There are a couple of documentation on foot and hollows that explain how patch a single host (for example http://www.vladan.fr/how-to-update-the-esxi-4-1-free-version-to-esxi-4-1-update-1/) in your case just replace the patch bundle with Update--esxi4.1 - 4.1_update03

Ensure that all virtual machines are (non-suspended) turned off before applying the batch of patches.

  • Can I use Windows 7 Upgrade media to upgrade a Vista computer that has not been upgraded to service pack 1? Can I use the option of custom Setup for Windows 7 Upgrade media? I would go from Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Premium.

The computer on which I am trying to upgrade is vascular under Vista Premium, but it was never upgraded to Service Pack 1. He has a problem with PIECES that is caused by a defective ntdll.dll module and so the updates do not work. Windows Upgrade Advisor tells me I must update Vista SP1. I really don't want to spend the time to solve the problem of Vista. I would like to just do a clean install using the custom install option on the Win7 upgrade support.
    Help.

Wrong forum. This post here instead, questions please: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7install/threads

That being said, you can not use an upgrade to Win7 edition to make a clean installation on a computer running Vista without SP1 installed, but you can buy a complete edition of Win7 (detail) and install it after formatting your HARD drive. ~ Robear Dyer (PA Bear) ~ MS MVP (that is to say, mail, security, Windows & Update Services) since 2002 ~ WARNING: MS MVPs represent or work for Microsoft

  • HDD upgrade options for Satellite 2410-504

    Hello

I am looking to upgrade the HARD drive on my 2410-504 but have found no information on what limitations there are on a HARD drive more large size.

The thread by Sherlock for the upgrade of 2410-404 suggests a load up to 60 GB capacity, but the user for the 504 manual says it was only produced in 20 and 30 GB packages.

Anyone know what is the largest capacity HARD drive that can be placed in a 504 and who will always be recognized by BIOS, etc?

    Thanks in advance

    Pete

    Hello Pete

This information can give you the right Service partner of Toshiba (responsible for the hardware upgrade) or an independent hardware vendor.
I can imagine that 60 GB HARD drive should not be problem, but with more than that can cause HARD drive is not recognized correctly.

Call them and ask. Ask doesn? t cost a lot.

  • When you select a contact in your contacts list which does not use an iPhone, are the menu options for this contact that is supposed to display text green or blue?

Hi there, this is not necessarily a problem, but I was wondering if you could awnswer this. I recently adding some new contacts to my contact list, who are both using android phones is said by the way and noticed that options for these contacts, such as: Send Message, share contact, add to Favorites, block this caller, as well as the options of call and text, are all displayed in blue text. I could have sworn at a certain point my contact options were displayed in green text for users of android and blue text only if this contact was using an iPhone. So I looked through my contacts, I needed to update some of my contacts anyway information and discovered that even the options of contact for non-iPhone users were posted in a blue text. I know that iMessage is always displayed in blue, and that regular messages always appear green, it is always the case when I text someone. I know that's really not a big deal, but still when I really could have sworn that the colors are different depending on whether my contacts using iPhones or not. Don't know if a blue font for the selection of these options would have is part of an update or not, or if it was always supposed to be the appearance of these options. If you could tell me what colors your iPhones display when you select a contact from your contact list, and if this would be something that would be possible to change if these colors are supposed to differ, it would be highly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read this, once again, I know this is really not very problematic, but I am always curious about it. Thanks to a bouquet.

This text is blue, no matter that the person has an iPhone, Android phone, landline phone or not phone. Contacts don't 'knows' what kind of phone is connected to the number.

  • Legitimate request for a free upgrade to Windows 7

I am new to this forum and am revolted by the attitude of the staff of the Toshiba customer support to my legitimate request for a free upgrade to windows 7, here's an email I wrote in which I would appreciate your comments on:

    To the right.

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with your response to my legitimate request for a free upgrade to Windows 7 see I recently spent more than £1,000 of one of your products.

After having several problems with the Vista operating system, I telephoned your customer on December 4 and had a conversation with an employee who could not satisfy me as to why my machine was not entitled to an update free to Windows 7, as mentioned on your web site.

He offered to take me up to a supervisor I agreed and that was connected to a female member of staff who tried to explain that my model did not appear in the "promotion". I couldn't sense in explaining, in the context of facts that my machine was of the same age and from the same family as those seen offer "promotion."

This employee was still unable to respond or understand my question and said that it is not technical interested so I asked him to put me through to his supervisor and after 10 minutes on the line, I need to speak to Alistair Cook.

Mr. Cook explained 'promotion' for me, but could not explain why my model was not an option, so he said he'd call at the time where he discovered why. What he has made some time after and repeated her account earlier with no clarity. He said he would do more research on the issue and send me the results.

This contacting your customer support Office took a total of 48 minutes on the phone.

Vista is of all intentions, a failure, a fact that you accept your offer of free updates to your customers, so why discriminate against some consumers and not others.

I am a user of long-standing computers Toshiba, the Qosmio is my third laptop and I have always been satisfied customer support, not that it was greatly needed. So, I ask again that do you the right thing and give me my eligibility based on principles.

    Yours sincerely.

    Hi mate

    Very interesting point of view.
But the fact is that not all cell phones from Toshiba are checked for an upgrade to Windows 7.
    Why?

Well, I checked Toshiba European page
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-> Windows 7 upgrade

and there I was able to find a list of FAQS.

One of the FAQ provides this info:

_What requirements I must meet to participate in the program of upgrade? _

+ To participate in the upgrade program, you must meet the three following criteria: +.
    + 1. You purchased your Toshiba computer between June 26, 2009 and January 31, 2010. +
+ 2. Your Toshiba computer is one of the series of model to check on the Toshiba page. +
+ 3. With your Toshiba computer, you bought an operating system Windows Vista Home Premium Edition, Windows Vista® professional or Windows Vista® Ultimate Edition. +

It seems that several criteria must be met in order to participate in the Windows 7 upgrade program.

  • Where to get licenses for non-profit?

    Hello

I have a computer lab that is put in place for a non-profit.
Everything is ready to go with the exception of a working operating system for 10-12 computers in the lab.
Normally, I get the licenses for $40 of TechSoup.  However, they limit purchases two per year and a Jolt for the benefit not till I'm here their exhausted.
So my question is, where can fetch at least 10 disks XP or Win7 with license free or at the lowest possible cost?
    (status of purpose not-for-profit 501 c 3)
    Thank you!

The limit of Microsoft for TechSoup resets every two years.  I just got an email from my TechSoup account:

On the stroke of midnight every two years, you get a new allotment of Microsoft products to ask.

So check with TS to see when your cycle is renewed.  Other than that, you can try a different dealer... but because the limit is MS instead of TS, I know not if you'll do better: http://www.microsoft.com/Licensing/licensing-options/for-industries.aspx#tab=4
