  Yes, I would say that all VMs are options to save money, I would try to go with oracle virtualbox, it is free I use osx to run a Windows 10 and machines virtual ubuntu it allows me to access the files across, although you mind a program under osx, maybe not 100% safe to use the same format as the same program under linux so that could cause a problem if this is the case.

That's all. 20 minutes of research has not revealed any dedicated quadrature decoding hardware modules, so I wonder what could be my best hardware solution.

I'm not sure that understand the Web site license options. What would be a good setup for this? Which version of Windows Server do we need to install to allow about 20 users to virtually of connection and use the different applications?

  Research on the Samsung website listing their models that are compatible in Windows 8, I do not see yours listed?  Please take a look at their link here.  Keep in mind of this site "* only models listed above are supported for Windows 8 upgrade."

  You may be able to install the drivers in compatibility mode, but if it does not, you will need to go through the Samsung support site.

  Linda, welcome to the forum.

  I suggest try Windows Fax and Scan (Control Panel / devices and printers / Fax) to see if it does what you need.  It allows to send and receive faxes without a fax machine.  When you click fax it will open and give you instructions on how to configure the application.

  OK, so I just had to re - install Windows 7 on my laptop due to a disk failure (Windows 7 Home Premium SP1) and hit a brick wall with trying to turn on Microsoft Updates instead of Windows updates.

  I try to click on the link "Learn more" on the bottom of the page to update on the line "Get updates for other products Microsoft." and it opens just a web page with a graphic telling me to open my Start menu and click on Windows updates.

  Catch 22 is that Windows Update has no options for anything other than Windows. He won't find the updates for the office or any of the other Microsoft programs I installed and there is no option to enable it in Windows Update settings.

  Exactly what I am missing, and where has Microsoft moved the activation of Microsoft Updates page too, because when I click on the link need me to http://www.update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/v6/thanks.aspx?ln=en&&thankspage=5 that makes a whole lot of nothing.

But unfortunately - even after the 8.1 update third - I still can't run some of my programs/drivers that are very VERY important in the area that I work in. Whenever I have to restore my OS to 8, a window prompts me to upgrade again! I always see, but eventually I'm forced to upgrade and then I have to go through all the trouble to restore and re-installing EVERYTHING. It's frustrating.

  I know that upgrading to 8.1 is useful, maybe even better, but it isn't just an option for me right now, because I have to work with these programs and drivers everyday. Maybe when they're compatible 8.1 (Yes, I check the updates) I will be happy to join the club, but I can't, so my question is:

  Is there a way I can stop this 'forced' update? Is there a power option in the settings? Or am I convict?

  In short there is no easy way to not upgrade.  Microsoft is pushing it to all the users of Windows 8.0.  At some point in a close future you would be forced to update anyway.

  Your best bet is to solve the problems when you do not upgrade. (Or jump and move win 10 beta).

  He should know that Microsoft will push updates to all users on the new OS in the future.
