OptiPlex GX620 Tower form HDD problem

I'm working on an Optiplex GX620 Tower form that will be used in the office at our Church. The HARD drive has been fired from another computer that leave work. It's a Maxtor 80 GB SATA with Windows XP installed on drive. When I turn on the computer, this is the message that appears:

When I try to start XP in one of the listed methods, it shows the screen to load for a few seconds. After that, she flashes a blue screen with error messages. It restarts showing the Dell splash screen and returns to the screen on the photo.

If the HARD drive itself is damaged in any way? The extent of the material is in good working condition.

As the hard drive was another computer, the differences between the Optiplex GX620 and disc hard donor system [unless it's an another GX620], are too large and you may need to perform a clean reinstall of XP, then loading the OptiPlex GX620 drivers.

  • second HD added Optiplex GX620 - problem

    Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD3200AAKS 320 GB 7200 RPM 16 MB Cache SATA 3.0 GB / s disk hard - OEM

I partitioned NTFS (half) and formatted.

The partitions are recognized and accesssable.

However, when I start it, I get an error message: "Drive 1 not found Serial ATA, SATA 1 press F1 to continue, F2 to run Setup util.

It is a very annoying problem at each reboot.  The drive seems to be perfectly usable. I partitioned and formatted originally with the last WD util available for this player, that's the problem and have also repartitioned and formatted with the disk management tool in Windows.

I recently acquired the machine (used, refurb) and was the original BIOS A03.  Since I am adding memory again next week, I flashed to A11, according to Dell.

Is there a difference between a SATA cable and Sata-II cable?  I bought my cable locally, buying the car was oem and was just a single disk without cables or the packaging.  There is no specification on the package, other than a "Serial ATA Cable".  I have seen cables on Newegg that mention cable "SATA-II".  Maybe that's my problem?

Tried everything so far.  All enabled in the BIOS depending on normal disc by adding the procedure. (I think)

  • Problem installation Vista Business 32 Bit ISO on Optiplex GX620

I asked to re - install a company ISO of Vista Business 32-bit specific on some Optiplex GX620s former.

These are the only computers that we have. I tried every method of installation has failed to halfway through or simply does not work.

    I tried:

    • Bootable flash drive (this worked the first time but is end of installation even after formatting the disc flash several times). I have been using this method.
    • External DVD USB drive (BIOS is not recognize it as a boot device)
    • Installation on an Optiplex 755, then proceed to the exchange of hard disks. (This causes a restart loop when the hard drive on the GX620 loading, I'm guessing that following a conflict of driver. I can't use the CD we since none of the GX620s have installation DVD players)

My question: is there another way to install this ISO I'm not aware of, or someone knows a way to solve one of the above mentioned conflicts?

I know that is a lot to ask for these older machines, but our resources are overwhelmed, and our budget is not allowing us to buy new desktop computers at the present time.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give.

I would update your Windows 10130 then Windows 10 Pro machines to make them Windows 10 devices (should you decide to use them with Windows 10). Later, you can reinstall Windows Vista:

    http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/Windows-XPVISTA-%E2%86%92-Windows-10-free-upgrade/

The Insider preview will soon expire so this upgrade path will be lost. In regards to the blue screen, run the full pre-launch F12 diagnostics:

Make full use of the WSUS Offline Update Patch Windows Vista:

  • Cannot add 4 GB of memory - optiplex gx620

We have 2 optiplex gx620 computers. The two running a windows 7 pro. For some reason, I am only able to put in 3 GB of memory. When I try to add the 4 GB, computers starts and give a sound signal with the yellow light switch. This happens with both computers. The problem does not seem to come from the sticks of memory, since switching fingers does not cause a problem. It is only trying to go up to 4 GB, the problem occurs. All USB keys are of the same type - dell - low density - 1024 MB PC2 - 6400 DDR2 RAM

    Help appreciated.

What form factor: desktop, Mini-Tower, small format, ultra compact?

Is the power button constant yellow or blinking yellow?

What color are the 4 diagnostic lights when it will not start? In the Manualerror codes.

    What version of BIOS?

Were the 'new' modules purchased together with other modules (6), or recently purchased, but with the same characteristics?

With all 4 modules installed, try to clear the BIOS:

    1. Restart, and then press F2 to open the BIOS Setup
    2. Copy down all the BIOS settings (or photograph all screens)
    3. Power off, unplug
    4. Power button press / hold for about 15 seconds
    5. Open the case and remove the motherboard battery
    6. Power button press / hold for about 30 seconds
    7. Make sure that all 4 modules are properly installed and locked latches
    8. Replace the motherboard battery
    9. Close the case and tries to start now
    10. Assuming it starts, go back into the BIOS Setup and make sure that the settings match what you have copied, or change to match. Be sure to save the changes to the output.
  • recommendation for old Optiplex GX620 graphics card

I upgraded my OS to Win 7 Pro 32 bit on this computer, but the Windows experience index is estimated at 2.8 with aero off because of the graphics.

Processor: Mark 3.9, memory rating 4.5, Aero graphics performance: score of 2.6, games graphics: Mark 3.4, HDD: score 5.8

It's a mini-tower Optiplex GX620 about 5 years, used for backup and email and the internet for other PCs:

    Pentium 4, E6850, 3.0, 4MB, Core Duo-Conroe, HDD 320 GB, 3 GB of memory, 375w power supply, graphics card, 128 MB ATI Radeon X 600, integrated sound.

I would like a recommendation on a graphics card inexpensive that this machine can handle without more work of the CPU. I have searched the forum but could not find recent info.

    Thank you.

SAPPHIRE HD 5450 1 GB would work in a dell optiplex GX 620? Slim. also is it just plug and play?

I doubt it is plug-and-play; to illustrate, a parent replaced a burnt on 6450 with a 8400GS and Windows installed default VGA driver and he left like that. The screen showed a large black border, and the resolution is suboptimal. Installing software appropriate to NVidia eliminated border and full resolution.

I would say that the card will work, but you will need to install the driver (which isn't hard).

I have a Sapphire 6570 installed in my GX620, with excellent results.

  • How to add SSD for Optiplex 755 (Small Form Factor)

    Hi-

I want to add a SSD for my Optiplex 755 (Small Form Factor) boot drive while maintaining the HARD disk it came with and the player optical slimline. There is a SATA port on the motherboard, but there is no open Bay and not a lot of room in the chassis (I do not see a power open cable).

Anyone know how or if I can add a SSD to 2.5 inches to this machine? Would need a power splitter? And it's even bothered to improve an Optiplex 755-10 Windows?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

    -Lewis

Adding a drive in the optical Bay is possible.  But you cannot run without the original hard disk on the desktop SFF and ULTRA-COMPACT models.

You will get an error message on the thermal characteristics of the drive.

SSD on SFF and USFF support have a problem due to heat dissipation.  The hard drive if not acknowledged will give an error, press F1 to continue.

    BIOS errors are;
    1 attention! Rear fan failure
2 attention! Ambient temperature sensor not detected

  • OptiPlex GX620 under Windows 7-64 bit

We discuss to modernize our systems with Windows 7-64 bit. Some of them are OptiPlex GX620 with Pentium D processor. One of my colleageus began installing Windows 7-64 bit for some of them. So far, she said, she did not no problem. This system does support 64 bit OS?

    Thank you

    Litom

Officially no, Dell has not listed this system for Windows Vista or Windows 7 compatibility, and as such, no driver is officially available directly on the drivers and downloads. He argues that official 32-bit and 64-bit of Windows XP. In other words, that it should be 64-bit compatible. I run Windows 7 upgrade advisor to make sure that he is capable of 64-bit.

Unofficially, he will certainly work with the 32-bit and is highly likely to work with the 64 bit. Many of the system drivers are native to Windows 7 and/or may be levied on other Optiplex models. I installed the 32 bit version on a GX520 for example which is very similar. In your case I would like to install Windows 7 my instructions below without having to activate, this will give you a 30 day trial to see how it works before you lose all licenses. You know how it runs in a couple of hours however.

An important note on the material, you have 4 GB of RAM in each system? If I do not recommend that upgrade you using crucial memory or install the 32-bit version of Windows 7, the upgrade of the RAM to 4 GB is recommended. See here for crucial memory, it says maximum 4 GB but says also 4 slots that can accommodate 2 GB each. Run the Crucial scan on one of your machines. If you buy RAM for several of these systems, it may be interesting stick 4 x 2 GB in one to see how much RAM it can attack with a 64 bit OS (you can remove the 4 GB of RAM after the test to put in another unit). See the service manual NOTE from the ADMIN: broken link has been removed from this post by Dell > for instructions in installation RAM, make sure that it is installed in pairs. I would say that it is not worth the price to get the 8 GB of RAM in each of your machines, but it would just be interesting to know as a note aside.

  • OptiPlex GX620 Pentium D on stock radiator?

Hello, I got an optiplex gx620 mini tour a few months ago, and it has a pentium 4 3.4 ghz ht. I want to upgrade the pentium d processor and I have the radiator in alluminum. I heard that you can not upgrade to pentium d 960, but you can upgrade to pentium d 805.y question is, can I make this update and get safe temperatures, and if I can, what thermal paste should I use? BTW, sorry if I made any mistakes of grammar, I'm from Romania.

No I'm not saying that units not 130W will work but the fan has run more than copper because it is not cooling as efficiently.  Aka 95W processors work but the fan works a lot.  Faster than the 915 will say no support of processor on USFF and SFF and office units.  The Tower has no such limitation based on 305 w power vs 150 to 220W power supply

Pentium D 800 series this will show to upgrade Windows 10.

Pentium D 900 series of 915 to 960 work very well with the 8.1 and 10.

  • What is the best video card for a Dell Optiplex GX620.

    Hello!

I have a Dell Optiplex GX620 and after many trials with glitches in video games, I am told that I need to update my video card. What is a good which corresponds to my mini-tower and a good price?

    Thanks for your help!

    Puppetguy

You asked the best video card for the GX 620 minitower then this would be the HD 6670 or 7750 HD.   Apparently, you do not have any dedicated now video card.  If we have linked is too heavy, you will need to give us an idea what you can spend.  Your will does not get a lot for less than $50.  If all want them you want, you can get a HD 6450.  I got one on ebay for $32.

  • best upgrade processor for Dell Optiplex GX620

    Hello

What is the fastest processor intel core 2, I can buy for my dell optiplex gx620?
    It has a pentium 4 2.8 ghz LGA775 socket

I've heard of bieng capped at 800 mhz fsb and I was also wondering if I could buy a dell optiplex Board that supports intel core 2 processor or if there is a way to Flash the BIOS for this

    concerning

    Ash

The GX620 does not support processors. The chipset could theoretically make some of the low end, but the bios should recognize the processor and then more or less allows dajuster the voltage supplied to the CPU motherboard.

The best you can get is a Pentium D I think. The first Optiplex with main support was the 745 if my memory serves.
