OR shared Variable engine usage example

Hi guys,.

using OR shared Variable engine and we try to use it with java. As we understand it, NOR shared Variables are available on the network.  So it is possible to communicate with the use of Sockets. Is there a protocol that I have to use? Any of you got an example on how to write a string to the shared variable?

Hope this is the right forum.

Thanks in advance.

Greetings

  • new variable networked shared in my computer, but not in the shared variable engine list

I have a Variables.lvlib shared on a cRIO target and test algorithms when I don't have access to material cRIO. Thought I could do a new project, add the library to the windows target (workstation). I need to add a few additional variables, I did in the original (i.e., while the library was the target in real time). Then create a new project and added the lvlib to the project (under my computer), and then wrote a VI to write in these SVs. When I let fall a constant Variable Refnum shared on the block diagram and browse for objects variables under 'Variable' Motors > ni.var.psp > localhost > shared Variables, list of variables shows everything except the 6 new variables. When I switch the view 'Current project', I get the same variables for new list WITH THE 6. However if I select the variables in the list and run the VI I get an error-1950679035 impossible to locate the variable in the shared Variable engine. Of course, I forgot something, anyone out there set me straight?

    Hello Lawrence,.

Looks like you'll have to maybe just to deploy the new variables - refer to this document:

  • Cannot connect shared variable engine

    Hi all

    LabVIEW 2009 + DSC

We have a test laptop computer on our LAN. Other developers read the values of some variables of this laptop. We now have a new developer and the computer. When we try to go the laptop computer network test, it can be found, but we can not see all the libraries. This is done by using the Distributed System Manager. PING is ok, and there is 'none' firewall or virusradars. Other developers can connect this laptop well and there is no problem. Does anyone have good advice for this problem?

  • There is no chance to install a standalone engine shared Variable of EVS?

    Hello!

I wrote a small application that reads the values of a NetworkVariable created on the local computer. The address of this variable is something like \\127.0.0.1\System\test1

That I can see, I can use this type of variable (I mean System -based) that if I installed an EVS (by Measurement Studio). But to install Measurement Studio, I need too Visual Studio...

There is a way to work properly with NetworkVariables based on a system without having to install everything as I said before? AES is responsible for the correct operation of NetworkVariables? In this case, is there any chance to install a standalone engine shared Variable of EVS?

    Thank you!

I found the solution to help NI MeasurementStudio 2008:

    Server deployment

In this scenario, you must deploy the motor Variable shared to another machine that plays the role of the server. To deploy the shared Variable engine, you must run an installation on the target computer. The required Installer is installed with Measurement Studio for the [InstallDir] \ Redist\NINETVARSERV folder.

You can view all the command-line options to run the installation program with setup.exe /? . Command line options, you can choose to run the installer in silent mode.

You can use the Variable Manager to create and configure network on the server variables. The variable Manager is installed by default. To run the Setup program without installing the Variable Manager, run setup.exe /prop VARMANEXCLUDE=1 command. To run the installation program of engine Variable shared in silence and without the Variable Manager, run setup.exe /q /acceptlicenses yes /prop VARMANEXCLUDE=1 command.

  • Deploy shared in localhost Variable engine

I need to talk to several RTs using the same computer. It seems
easy to deploy shared variable engine (library) in localhost instead of
RT. However, the problem is the shared variables (read) used in localhost screws
are not updated to RTs. But when I use a different local VI to update
the shared variable, it works fine. The variable path of the RT
    as "\\My Computer\Local NPSVlvlib\Test
Data '. I think that this is the problem, why the values are not updated
because the RT cannot resolve the path network ("\\My
("Computer\Local NPSVlvlib\Test Data"). Also, I tried to change the shared
variable path in the CR, but I couldn't do it. Need help!

I think I found the problem. Firewall was the culprit. I disabled the firewall and it started working like charm.

  • shared variables does not

Hello, I'm writing because I'm having a problem with the use of shared variables. I am doing a project for College and I use the DSC for his shared variable function. The problem im having is that shared variables do connect it no more. I followed a document "Getting started with LabVIEW Datalogging and supervisory Control Module" and managed to build an IOServer and shared variables in accordance with the document to deploy successfully. It was a few days ago. Today when I opened the project file even shared variables would not connect. IM also having the same problem with other projects that I made over the weekend that worked, but do not work now.

Does anyone else have this problem?

    Hi Justin,

I am pleased to see that you are able to work with your LabVIEW installation now. 0x0000002A error message reported only in what concerns the communication between the shared variable engine and part mutual FUND of the DSC module is blocked.  This was usually resolved by inspecting the security settings Windows for the firewall, as discussed earlier.

As for your second question, it might be better to start a new post.  However, please specify what files you want to move and what wisely win. Where would you like the directory that is to be held and for what benefits?  If you are hoping to achieve a gain of performance or similar, there may be different approaches other than moving files.

    Kind regards

  • Unexpected error from a specific shared variable in RT PXI

    Hi all

Basically, I have 2 screws, one running on a PXI system, lets call it PXI.vi and the other on the pc, GUI.vi

I started to test my request a few days ago and after 3 hours of running, I got the error in the picture.

1073807339 error occurred at the VISA write to PXI.vi

Reason: "timeout expired before the operation is completed."

    Then immediately also this error:

"Unable to locate the variable in the shared variable engine. Deployment of the variable may have failed. »

I restarted the PXI and started the test and it happened again after 2 hours.

    Even before the third time.

It is always 2 items that cause this problem. They are used to pass information about the error happening on an instrument.

So in fact they are not yet used to give the message.

I have check them in a loop every second.

They are not stored. I initialize them at the start of the vi

    I'm using Labview 2011 and windows 7

I thank in advance or for your time.

  • More shared variable help

Yep, I'm looking for a large shared variable project, so I guess it's time to become active on the Board again.

    Anyway, so I had this problem;

    http://forums.NI.com/T5/LabVIEW/getting-a-list-shared-variable-references/TD-p/1817829

    but we got that understood.

Now when I go to write the data in variables, I can watch it go 'No known value' in Distributed System Manager to ' ', and Yes, I mean empty. Certainly, data comes from a simulated currently, data acquisition but I can probe the data line in the .vi and it has their number, they get just not to the shared variable. Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong? I have deployed variables and the shared variable engine is running on the computer. Is there something I need to do it programmatically before you write for them?

Here is the code snippet, if you don't switch between the tabs to look at.

    Thanks for any help,

    Hi Ian,

Have you tried to switch to another type of data such as double to see if it works? It is possible that the DSM is unable to display a table of waveforms, so the data that appear in white.

  • Receive 2147220696 error message when you deploy shared variable library to cFP-2200

Does anyone know what is this error and how to solve the problem?  I have LabView2010SP1 on my laptop and FieldPoint 6.0.7 with WIF as ADDon-Aug2010 on the CFP. Attached is a snapshot of the error screen.

I have worked with Kellis Application Engineering and she determined that the shared variable engine had not begun on the CFP.  She had me reformat the CFP, reconfigure and reload the software of the PSC.  After that, I was able to deploy my variable library shared to the CFP.

  • Support of the shared Variables in the third part XP embedded based of PTC?

I sent a request in an embedded XP touch function (third party). The application works very well, but hosted on a RT (sbRIO Board) shared variables are not getting updated in the app on PTC

    1. the PTC is part of the project as a Windows XP Embedded Touch Panel

2 NI TPC Service has been installed on the PTC and the application can be deployed remotely from the PC development via ethernet. (Where network connections and communications are OK)

    3. using distributed in the development computer systems manager, I can see that the shared variables are getting updates on the network

I think that the problem can be solved if the following programs are installed on the TPC

    A. Support for variables that are shared for XPembedded

    B. shared Variable engine

I tried to install the support of variables shared Program Files > National Instruments > Labview 8.6 > PDA > utilities > Variables > x 86 - but I get an installation error "cannot find the application for the Pocket PC applications Manager.

Shared variable engine was installed from the ve220 folder. The program is installing. But the engine Variable is not start Control Panel > administrative tools > Services, Xpe, the service is stopped and cannot be started. When I try to start the service, I get the following error on PTC

"Cannot start Service engine of National Instruments Variable on the local computer."

Error 1053. Service has failed to demand launch or timely control.

Please suggest solutions to the addresses above or another of the following:

    1. support of variables shared for XP built-in PTC

    2 Installer engine Variable shared.

    Thank you

    Problem solved!

Update for interested people working on XP Embedded PTC

Just to ensure that shared Variables were indeed accessible to the TPC, I wanted to install Distributed Systems Manager 8.6 on the TPC. However given that the TPC was only 1 GB of DOM (disk on memory) and with all the software that I had tried, there remained only a few megabytes on the system. I had to add an another DOM of 2 GB.

All products in the Installation went well, with the exception of the Logos NOR (Version 5.0). Logos OR installation has failed repeatedly.  I tried to install NI Logos separately, with the same results. Then I had this intuition that NI Logos had anything to do with the question.

Then, I downloaded the new version of NI DSM 2009 SP1. Even if it were to settle on any fresh system without Labview, the installation would not proceed beyond the stage of configuration. I tried to install NI Logos of the folder on the download of new products separately and it worked magically!

Once the new Logos (Ver 5.5) installed, the Shared Variable engine starts automatically and the shared Variables are finally unleashed - free stand up and shine! I thank Almighty God!

On the lighter side, come to think of it - to run an application about 400 KB, we need NEITHER of Run Time, XP embedded, DSM, Logos...  (around 900 MB). Can make us everything simpler?  Invite your comments...

    Thank you

  • Shared variable of subjects with the executable in real-time

We have a PXi target running Labview time real 8.5 and we use a series of shared variables for communication between the target and the client software. The code was developed (and used) in the last 2 years, and presented no problems with the shared variables when they are deployed since the Project Explorer (for the target and the laptop based client software). However, when you try to run an executable version on the system time PXI real target of exactly the same engine code variable shared seems to fail during the initial loading. Since it is an executable, it is difficult to display errors, but it seems that the accident occurred at the beginning of the program when we try to initialize a number of shared variables. Sometimes it loads but probably only 10% of the time. When you plug the tool to debug for code and restarting the executable, runs without any problem. However, once we managed to capture and error (error-1950678982 the shared variable client side read buffer is full).

I checked a number of messages in the Knowledge Base (e.g. how to deploy Variables of a compiled executable shared network?), but it still has not solved the problem. Thoughts and suggestions?

    Adrian

I tested it for a few hours now and I can't make it fail again. The big difference in my implementation was to use your suggestion, and no wire the error cluster through the method since the error it generates caused a number of questions later. So let me summarize the final configuration that seems to work then:

-during the execution and executable on a target time real 8.5, startup not connected to a client. Library of shared variable hosted on the target and should load by itself.

-J' added a flat structure sequence on the vi 'main' (top of page vi executable) with a node (as shown above) Invoke method in the first structure with a timer to 10 seconds and the rest of the code in the second part of the structure. The shared variable library has been copied to the target in a data directory and the path provided to the method (the same way as above) and the IP address is that of the target.

I discovered that it takes about 8-9 seconds for the shared variable engine and library to start (I don't remember is that past exactly that) and it is important to wait this time to initialize shared variables or the behavior is unpredictable. The method always generates the error 1043 (function not supported) but I simply ignore it now, and it seems to work.

Thanks for your help! I will let you know if there is some instability in the future, but everything looks good from here.

  • Shared variable refuses to deploy correctly!

My problem looks like one that has been met before, but without good answers on the documents OR or the forums. When you try to run a VI that deploys shared variables, I get an error that the shared variable engine was not found. This seems to be almost at random, because I was able to deploy perfectly shared variables. He could have when I rebooted my computer this problem started to occur.

I tried to disable the firewall, which had no effect. LabVIEW 2009 reports the following when I try to start my VI:

"LabVIEW: (Hex 0x8BBB0005) Impossible to locate the variable in the shared Variable engine."  Deployment of this variable may have failed.

This error or warning occurred when writing the following shared Variable:
    \\.\fake_data\flow_sh
    \\.\fake_data\flow_sh".

I will include all relevant files so that you can see exactly what I'm doing. The purpose of the fake_data program is just to practice using shared variables, very simple. Thanks for any idea that you can offer!

my shared variables work once again, I just open cmd.exe and typed:

net stop "national instruments variable motor.

    followed by

net start "national instruments variable motor.

Welcome to the world of partially useful LabVIEW Error Messages (even if they usually Microsoft beat by a mile here).

What version of LabVIEW you run?  It is the only version that has been installed on your PC?  [The reason for seeking it is me and others, have experienced the installation, say, LabVIEW 2015 on a system that has already LabVIEW 2014, something that is "legal" and should work, but during the Installation, OR HHT are stop and restart not.]  [A single Service, necessary for the operation of shared Variables, is the Variable Service NOR].

In fact, while composing this Post, I went to my Services (because I wanted to be sure to specify the correct Service), to see that the Service is missing (again) and (again), the shared Variable engine isn't available.  Indeed, I get exactly the same error message.

So here's how I'm going to (try to) fix.  I will go to the Panel, programs and features, National Instruments and will repair LabVIEW 2015 (32 bit).  I expect this process to take about 30 minutes (if I'm lucky) - I'll post my results here...

  • Array of string to a shared variable

I'm writing a table 1 d of channels to a variable published network shared, but apparently not to write it. On the host, I can read the variable after that I write for her, but I can't read it on the remote system (real time). It's always empty. I checked System Manager, and it also shows the null variable.

    Hello

Looks like there could be a problem with the way in which you post your shared network variables. Do you have any other shared variable of another type that works?

Which machine hosts the variables? In both cases, make sure that their deployment correctly. If the variables are hosted on your PC, check the Variable Manager and ensure that your variable is listed and that it is properly updated. If this is the case, make sure that your network is not blocking the port traffic (disable the firewall). Also, make sure that the path to the shared real-time variable points to the correct location of the shared variable engine.

  • Shared variables, analysis engine and multiple targets

I'm looking for some general tips on my LabVIEW project structure.

The project consists of a laptop with LabVIEW, a connected joystick and a CompactRIO connected via ethernet. I ran the cRIO mode Interface FPGA, but a change in some things causes the project to have be moved to scan mode.

From now on, the code on the portable computer updates the shared variables on the cRIO and bed from the variables shared on the cRIO for surveillance. I want to shared variables on the cRIO because he will also need to work without the connected laptop. Before moving the cRIO for scan mode, I found that I had to first run the code of the laptop and then run the code cRIO, or shared variables would not release properly. Now that I spent to scan mode, I have to run the code cRIO first, and even then the shared vars do not properly communicate for more than a few seconds and are well laggier.

My ideal project solution is a system that can operate with or without the connected laptop and obviously do not have these questions shared variable. I would like the autostart code on the cRIO and ask the user to execute the code of the computer laptop, if necessary, but in the past, it doesn't seem to work with shared variables.

I'm really confused about why this is happening. I hope I explained my problem well enough. I really don't want to display the entire project here, but I can email to people if they are willing to take a look. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

I'm under LabVIEW 2010 SP1 with FPGA, DSC modules and robotic in real time. I have the updated Feb 11 driver and NOR-RIO 3.6.0 installed and completed all updated on my RT cRIO.

I do this kind of thing all the time...

Move all your NSV libraries on the cRIO.  Of the project, you must deploy on the cRIO and then they are persistent until you reformat.

Your windows GUI application, you can set static NSV tags on the block schema or use the API SV dynamic R / w.  Also you can bind GUI controls and

indicators directly to the NSV cRIO (it's what I do) also I create a library of 'mirror' in the PC HMI that is linked to the library of cRIO.  This library has DSC Citadel

data record enable and automatically records the historical traces of all my important data - very nice.  Libraries hosted PC can be set to autodeploy in the version of the app.

the project also has an option of autodeploy to the development environment that normally, I turned off.  If you have a PC at the cRIO binding configuration so be careful

on any kind of autodeployment because this will eventually force the cRIO app stop when you deploy.  To work around this problem, you can use the PSP (IP address rather than project binding

process name) and use of the DSC deploy library s vi in your HMI application.  Once you use the scan engine, you can use the app DSM (Distributed System Manager) to view, DIF and

each of you IOV and NSV graphic on your network.
