    Gerhard

    Edit you directly the file? It is not possible (or least desirable), as the spfile is a "binary".

    Settings are made via
    ALTER system set commands...
    or
    a spfile based on a pfile, with the creation of the spfile file... command

    I hope that you have a backup spfile and pfile, that you could use to cancel the change.

    If this isn't the case, maybe something like this might work:

    strings spfileXE.ora > save_initXE.ora

    SQL> create spfile from pfile = '..path../save_initXE.ora';

  • ORA-39700: database must be opened with the UPGRADE option

    Hello
    Let me explain the scenario.
    I have the oracle with 11.2.0.2 binary. This House is shared by multiple database (around 15 of database).
    Now, I must apply the PSU 5 for one of the database (allows to take the name of the test).
    So I installed 11.2.0.2 new home in the same server and applied the PSU-5 for thati oracle new home.
    I copied the spfile and password at home girl new oracle, associated to the TEST database. Now when I try to start the DB with option to boot he asks me to open the DB with UPGRADE option.

    Why should you start the DB with upgrade option because he was running with the same version in old House as well?

    I run catupgrd.sql once more?

    PSU patches usually do not require the database to be opened in UPGRADE mode. The obvious explanation is that the source database is not 11.2.0.2 but something lower.

    The first mistake of the stack was ORA-19504 while trying to restore the backup of the database.

    First thing I took a glance was ASM occupation but it enough available space.

    The second was a permission problem, but it doesn't seem to be the case because RMAN can correctly write the controlfile to ASM.

    One have some advice on what I should look for?

    Thanks in advance sorry for my English.

    Select this option.

    Hello.

    Thanks, but is not the case. As I have said, that the DATA diskgroup has space enough he uses only a single disk in a RAID.

    But I solved my problem... To the auxiliary database, I added the following to the spfile:

    DB_FILE_NAME_CONVERT = '+ DATA/ProdDB', '+ DATA/OlderDB ".

    LOG_FILE_NAME_CONVERT = '+ DATA/ProdDB', '+ DATA/OlderDB ".

    I don't know why, but with these two clauses, it worked well. Perhaps RMAN was trying to restore it to the wrong place?

  • Install HRCS9.0 and PT8.53 with Linux question: the files intiPT853.ora and initHRCS90.ora: exceeded maximum number of DB_FILES

    People,

    Hello. I installed PeopleTools 8.53 with Oracle Linux 5.10 successfully. The PeopleTools everything works fine in the browser at the beginning.

    After that I installed HCM and Solution Campus 9.0 Instance of database named HRCS90 in Linux successfully, PeopleTools 8,53 Database Instance PT853 can not be mounted. The error message is less to:

    SQL > startup
    ORACLE instance started.

    Total System Global Area 538677248 bytes
    Bytes of size 2146024 fixed
    528482584 variable size bytes

    Redo buffers 3854336 bytes
    ORA-00059: exceeded maximum number of DB_FILES

    In the home/user/OracleDB_Home/dbs/initPT853.ora file, its parameter db_files has 3 values: small 400, 1021 medium and large 1500. The initial value is 1021 and it works correctly at the beginning.  But after the implementation of another instance of HRCS90, the above error message and instance PT853 is not mounted. I change the value of db_files 1021 to 1500 in the initPT853.ora file and restart the Linux operating system. But get the same error as below:

    SQL > startup
    ORACLE instance started.

    Total System Global Area 538677248 bytes
    Bytes of size 2146024 fixed

    In the home/user/OracleDB_Home/dbs/initHRCS90.ora file, its parameter db_files has 3 values: small average 80, 1500 400 and large. I use db_files = 400 and it works properly. I start instance HRCS90 right after the above error message as below:

    SQL > shutdown immediate
    ORA-01507: database not mounted

    As we see above, the HRCS90 instance work corretly, and PT853 does not start. Parameter DB_FILES the file initPT853.ora has a problem.

    My question is:

    1021 and 1,500 is not enough for a starting PT853 instance, what value should be used for the the file initPT853.ora DB_FILES?

    Thank you.

    I'm sorry, but I do not understand that "Instance" means here.

    Are you do not use a spfile? The file actually contains 3 values? What's the latest? Have you checked the value in the database side "see the db_files parameter?

    > But after set up another instance of HRCS90, the above error message and instance PT853 is not mounted

    Still, I don't know what that means.

    Once again, 3 values? What's the latest? Have you checked the value in the database side "see the db_files parameter?

    Again, I don't understand what exactly are HRCS90 and PT853. Can not help.

    I am sure, you have not a problem with this setting, 1500 files in the database is fairly large. Recently, I've built a demo, the default 1021 was ok for me. You should have done something wrong somewhere.

    Nicolas.

    It is a forum for peer volunteers. There is no "urgent" here. For "urgent", you open a sev-1 SR with Oracle's Support.

    That said, what I would do at this point is to create a your spfile init.ora file, and then edit this file init.ora to set the compatible parameter to where it should be, create a file the init.ora spfile and restart db.

    Assuming your sid is "geooap":

    copy spfilegeooap.ora spfilegeooap.save
    set ORACLE_SID=geooapp
    sqlplus /nolog
    create pfile='initgeooap.ora' from spfile;
    exit
    notepad initgeooap.ora << fix the parameter
    sqlplus /nolog
    create spfile from pfile='initgeooap.ora';
    startup

    I created a file in the dummy directory of track changes but the name is different since it is OMF on target, still does not work.

    Please help here. Thank you.

    Hello;

    Expected error.

    Try:

    alter database open resetlogs;

    You probably have a good copy and RMAN might want a newspaper that does not exist.

    Check here as in step 8, I get the same thing:
