Oracle 11g AMM (automatic memory management)
Hi all
I have a very powerful server 24 processors 6 hearts of each and 74 GB of RAM for my production database. The server will host what a single database of production. I wanted to use the AMM for this database and maximum memory allocation to Oracle by defining memory_target. By default, / dev/SHM has 37 GB but I wanted to increase it less 55GO. I know I can get it changed by my system administrator, but I wanted to know how much memory should leave BONES?
Please help me on this design.
Thank you
Arun Singh
The POSIX or/dev/SHM shared memory is 50% of physical RAM by default. If you want to change the default, you need to specify your OS version, because it depends on.
However, thanks to WMA or/dev/shm in a system with more than 16 GB of RAM you are going to lose a lot of performance and memory, which, according to Oracle Linux engineering is the reason number 1 for poor Oracle database performance. Memory POSIX shared in your configuration will result in the loss of performance due to TLB misses and waste memory only to manage the memory of 4 KB pages.
I recommended that configure the system using the kernel hugepages, which use memory 2 MB pages, remove memory_target and memory_max_target of your instance settings file and configure the database to use EAMA.

Hello
I have a general question related to the automatic memory management in Oracle 11 g.
Is there an upper limit for the SGA to grow, if Memory_Target?
If the SGA Max Size is equal to the target memory
Thank you and best regards,
Deepak
SGA_MAX_SIZE alone is useless IMO. If you really want to have something good, use SGA_TARGET for else EAMA just use MEMORY_TARGET with MEMORY_MAX_TARGET and let the oracle to manipulate.

Disable the automatic memory management
Hello
Just set the following parameters "MEMORY_TARGET = 0" & "MEMORY_MAX_TARGET = 0" to disable the automatic management of memory in 11G and parameter sga_max_size & lower sga_target minimum of operating system settings "Process.Max - address space" and "Project.Max - shm-memory".» ATLAST Db bounce.

Set the parameter to initialize MEMORY_TARGET to 0.
Set the parameter to initialize SGA_TARGET to 0.MAX settings will server as hard limits for culture manually hide them if you want, if you do not set them so you will not be able to grow the caches manually online.

Oracle 11g Client and Enterprise Manager
Just need confirmation that the old Java based Enterprise Manager 10g left for always with 11g and there is no installation of 11g client management console (at least I can't find one). And after searching for the ndo son Oracle documentation, it seems that I can install database 11g on my local pc and then have a dbconsole (not the grid control). Please confirm that this dbconsole only points to the specific database that is installed on the same pc, and it cannot be used to manage remotely located 10 or 11 g databases. I'm still in the planning stages for the installation of grid control and want to use the more small enterprise manager - java control. But even once, there no such Oracle 11 g application now? I have to use the grid control to manage multiple databases?
Thank you

Confirmed. The DB Console is linked to an ORACLE_HOME one HOST for a single INSTANCE. The HOST and the INSTANCE are used in the directory naming (of all stupidity) and the content of the configuration file under the ORACLE_HOME.
I'm still in the planning stages for the installation of grid control and want to use the more small enterprise manager - java control. But even once, there no such Oracle 11 g application now? I have to use the grid control to manage multiple databases?
Confirmed. Fortunately, the grid control is included in the license database in accordance with the manual of licenses of database, and you can place the grid on a separate machine control. As the Grid control is powered with a single agent for all products (and any other database) on the target host, the grid control puts on a much smaller footprint on a machine of database that even the old console Java.
Note that the grid control of 11g (at least) will tomorrow announce Webcast - check the RTO.

You can use pfile instead of spfile with automatic shared memory management
I decided to use the pfile instead of spfile method, because you can make comments in the file pfile. This became very useful however I think that I might be giving up some things.
I want to know if I can use Automatic Shared Memory Management with a pfile.
Also you can make to change the pfile to the database file. Example:
change the system {some parameter} scope =... I would like here to pfile.
Is this possible. I don't want to have to keep switching back, and I don't want to lose what I put in the pfile file. I read a great article in Oracle magizine on best practices for Oracle and one of them was to not use the spfile. Now, I can't find the article.Dear friend
feature managent automatic memory or dynamic SGA , can not be used when you
use pfile as meathod initialization of the instance. To use the dynamic SGA feature you
must use the spfile.
As you know the current status or the size of the SGA is determined by the
Parameter SGA_TARGET , and when you want to change the size of the SGA for instnace this setting
must be updated dynamically without restarting the ORACLE SERVER.And as a pfile cannot be updated by the ORACLE SERVER, it must be changed manually.
so you cannot use automatic memory management while you use startup pfile.I hope this helps...

Hello
We have a production Oracle 11 g r2 standard database with the following general settings:
Shared pool: 608 MB
Buffer cache: 608 MB
...
SGA 1417 MB total
We have noticed that over time, shared pool takes memory from the buffer cache, even if automatic shared memory management is disabled.
The only way we can redistribute the memory is returned to the original settings by restarting the database service. We tried to redistribution of memory by using the following commands unsuccessfully.
alter system set shared_pool_size = 608M;
change the value system DB_cache_size = 608M.
The application provider insists that automatic memory management should not be enabled.
Could someone provide guidance as to 1. Why the buffer cache loses the memory of the shared pool 2. How can we redistribute the memory without having to restart the database service.
Thank you

Implementation services for oracle 11g manual
If I had to define oracle services to start manually is there a specific order in which oracle services must be turned on as oracleServiceORCL first, then oracleOradb11g_home2_TNSLISTENER? I set the services to start manually and when I SPEAR oracleServiceORCL remains at about ~ 47 MB of memory, TNS listener won't turn on and I can't use OEM.
When the services are set to automatic, I can use OEM however my pc startup time is like 3 minutes :).
Windows 7 Ultimate x 64, 4 GB
Oracle 11g R2, enterprise editionis there a specific order in which oracle services should be lit as oracleServiceORCL first, then oracleOradb11g_home2_TNSLISTENER?
YES, you should start LISTENER first and then the database Service.
If this answers your question, please mark this answer as Correct and mark this question as answered.

You can check using
SQL > show parameter db_create_file_dest
If it shows some thing like + DISKGORUPNAME, the database uses ASM
In addition, you can using verfity
Select name, status from v$ asm_diskgroup;
Is that the State shows CONNECTED, while special ASM diskgroup is related to the proceeding.

Windows 7 allows the application of compaction in the memory manager. If yes where can I find more information.
Thank you
Memory management is controlled automatically by Windows. Do a search in Help and Support for compaction gives no results, so I think that the answer is no. It is usually a good idea to reboot at least once a week to clean fragments that might be lingering around. There is a defragmentation of your hard drive that you can schedule or manually run.
Good luck.

nt! MiResolveDemandZeroFault said the material to write in fffff880'09db7a90 (who once again of incidentally is a completely valid address), and the material came back and said 'I can't write fffff12014494a90.
However, this seems very material right here - nom_processus: avgrsa.exe is an associated AVG process at the time of the accident.

2 if the above fails, please run Memtest for no. LESS than ~ 8 going on (several hours):
Memtest86 +:
Download Memtest86 + here:
Which should I download?
You can either download the ISO pre-built you want to burn to a CD and then boot from the CD, or you can download the automatic installer of the USB. What this will do is format your USB drive, make a boot device and then install the necessary files. Both do the same job, it's just you that you choose, or you have available (be it CD or USB).
Note that some older generation motherboards do not support USB boot, your only option is CD (or floppy if you really wanted to).
How Memtest works:
Memtest86 writes a series of test patterns for most of the addresses of memory, reads the written data and compares it to find errors.
The default pass is 9 different tests, varying in the modes of access and test data. A tenth test, bland, is selectable in the menu. He wrote all the memory with zeros, then sleeps 90 minutes before checking to see if the bits have changed (perhaps because of refresh problems). This is repeated with all those for a total time of 3 hours by pass.
Many chipsets can report RAM speed and timings by SPD (Serial Presence Detect) or EPP (Enhanced Performance Profiles), and some even support changing the expected memory speed. If the expected memory speed is overclockee, Memtest86 can test that memory is free of error with these faster settings.
Some hardware is able to report the status of the "PAT" (PAT: active or PAT: disabled). This is a reference to the Intel performance acceleration technology; There may be the BIOS settings that affect this aspect of memory synchronization.
This information, if it is available for the program, can be displayed via a menu option.
Other questions, they can most likely be answered by reading this excellent guide here:

a search tool similar to google search suggestions for forms of oracle 11g
Nice day
I was wondering if there is a tool/plugin that would be something like google for a field search suggestions show on oracle 11g. He looking for a column in the database. The thing is, I have a column where new fields should be added each year, where they do not exist. It's a little complicated and tedious to search if the field exists manually, a tool that would give suggestions when writing a keyword would be really useful.
If this is not possible, I would really appreciate all the advice I could get on how to make it easier for the user to look for already existing data
Thank you

I don't even know if this bean is able to insert a word just typed by the user...But, as all the material on the site of Java Bean is free, you are also free to find a Java developer who could improve the existing code.

How to use the JKS-based Keystore in Oracle 11g SOA
I'm doing FTPS on remote server of third party (with UNIX operating system) using SOA 11 g adapter FTP. I installed and configured vsftpd and generated vsftpd.pem file on the remote server certificate.
Follow the steps mentioned in http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17904_01/integration.1111/e10231/adptr_file.htm#CIABDGCF
In one step "Adjusting upward the FTP Oracle adapter" walletLocation is necessary, then I went through the steps mentioned in http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17904_01/core.1111/e10105/wallets.htm#CHDGIJDC
(Tried using both 1) JKS Keystore Management 2) portfolio management
Impossible to find two of them in the Oracle 11g SOA em but the steps do not match.
Can someone tell me how to use JKS Keystore or portfolio management?
Thank you very much!!

YogeshHi yogesh,
I think that the portfolio can be created from the FMW console only if the HTTP server is installed and available. If there is no Oracle HTTP server, configure a specified in the.

Hi all
I tried to install oracle 11g on windows 7 but when database creating the installer hang and error log display.Hello
First of all, you must make sure that the event viewer service is running, all you have to do is to go to
my computer right click Properties then in computer management, you will find event viewer.Second, expand the event viewer and go to system and make a right, and then click clear log.
You can do the same step for application.then come back again and try to create the database :)
