Oracle 11g Client and Enterprise Manager

Just need confirmation that the old Java based Enterprise Manager 10g left for always with 11g and there is no installation of 11g client management console (at least I can't find one). And after searching for the ndo son Oracle documentation, it seems that I can install database 11g on my local pc and then have a dbconsole (not the grid control). Please confirm that this dbconsole only points to the specific database that is installed on the same pc, and it cannot be used to manage remotely located 10 or 11 g databases. I'm still in the planning stages for the installation of grid control and want to use the more small enterprise manager - java control. But even once, there no such Oracle 11 g application now? I have to use the grid control to manage multiple databases?

Thank you

Confirmed. Identical to the installation of the database.

Confirmed. The DB Console is linked to an ORACLE_HOME one HOST for a single INSTANCE. The HOST and the INSTANCE are used in the directory naming (of all stupidity) and the content of the configuration file under the ORACLE_HOME.

I'm still in the planning stages for the installation of grid control and want to use the more small enterprise manager - java control. But even once, there no such Oracle 11 g application now? I have to use the grid control to manage multiple databases?

Confirmed. Fortunately, the grid control is included in the license database in accordance with the manual of licenses of database, and you can place the grid on a separate machine control. As the Grid control is powered with a single agent for all products (and any other database) on the target host, the grid control puts on a much smaller footprint on a machine of database that even the old console Java.

Note that the grid control of 11g (at least) will tomorrow announce Webcast - check the RTO.

You can install in any desired point of installation/directory. Oracle does not give a flying fig this topic. Just put it somewhere that makes sense.

  • Oracle 11g AMM (automatic memory management)

    Hi all

I have a very powerful server 24 processors 6 hearts of each and 74 GB of RAM for my production database. The server will host what a single database of production. I wanted to use the AMM for this database and maximum memory allocation to Oracle by defining memory_target. By default, / dev/SHM has 37 GB but I wanted to increase it less 55GO. I know I can get it changed by my system administrator, but I wanted to know how much memory should leave BONES?

Please help me on this design.

    Thank you

    Arun Singh

The POSIX or/dev/SHM shared memory is 50% of physical RAM by default. If you want to change the default, you need to specify your OS version, because it depends on.

However, thanks to WMA or/dev/shm in a system with more than 16 GB of RAM you are going to lose a lot of performance and memory, which, according to Oracle Linux engineering is the reason number 1 for poor Oracle database performance. Memory POSIX shared in your configuration will result in the loss of performance due to TLB misses and waste memory only to manage the memory of 4 KB pages.

I recommended that configure the system using the kernel hugepages, which use memory 2 MB pages, remove memory_target and memory_max_target of your instance settings file and configure the database to use EAMA.

Yes, it's the customers oracle s possible 2 32 and 64 bits on the same OS.
If the Oracle Client is 32 bit, it will contain a "lib" folder But if it's a customer of Oracle 64-bit, it will 'lib' and 'lib32' records.

  • Oracle 11g client install on crashes windows 2008

    Greetings,

I'm trying to reinstall the client of Oracle 11 g on a Windows 2008 R2 Ent. Server and the installation hangs on the back windows where the last message is:

    From Oracle Universal Installer...

Monitor: must be configured to display at least 256 colors greater than 256.    65536 real past
Preparations for the launch of Oracle Universal Installer from c:\temp\2\OraInstall2012-07-19_12-04-18PM. Please wait...

At this point it just hangs.
Is there a setting I'm missing?
I cleaned up the previous installation (directories etc., after you run the deinstall script)

The installActions log file under c:\temp\2\OraInstall < timestamp > display just the first two lines above.
The installation program creates a < single value > dd_vcredist under c:\temp .txt file that contains the following lines at the end, it seems to stop at this point always.

  • Oracle 11G datapump and sequences issue

    Hello

I made a pattern (datapump: expdp) dump on a database 11G and any with impdp on another instance. I have removed all the objects schema before importing it on the destination instance. Import took place without problems. But after a while we got ora-0001 primary key violations. The reason why were some footage with a value less than the value in some tables. It seems Oracle dump first year sequence then the oracle data. They are out of sync. I thought datapump made coherent landfills. Is this a known issue?

    Kind regards

This is the case with exp/imp since V6.

  • Oracle 11g XE and SQL Developer

    Hello:

Very new here.  I don't know where to post anything.  My apologies, but I'm all over the room.

I installed 11g and downloaded SQL Developer (not even sure if it should be "installed" because it's just a zip file).

In any case, on the SQL command line I get SYSTEM CONNECT, then my password.  I get the following error:

ORA 12154: TNS could not resolve the connect identifier specified.

Also, the "get started" link not working anymore.  Don't know what's happening, or if it is specific to my laptop.  I tried to connect two days without result.

    Thanks for any help.

  • Oracle 11g RAC and Clusterware several houses of the databases

We plan to install grid 11 GR 2 Clusterware on several series P IBM AIX 5.3 servers and combine them together.

Advising several of the DBA in my shop to install the clusterware and ASM under an AIX user id (for example, crsuser) and then implement various database houses (we plan 2 databases for this cluster) under different pseudos of AIX software (for example, users oradb1 and oradb2). So the clusterware will run on AIX user id crsuser, and the first database would be executed using AIX user id oradb1, the second database would use AIX user id oradb2. Will this work?

I administered the RAC clusters in the past for 10 gr 2, but the clusterware and databases were all settled under the same AIX user id (for example, AIX 'oracle' user id).

Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. :)

  • Generated code differs from OWB Client and Deployment Manager...

    Hello

I have developed mappings using OWB9.2 and the generated code.

But even when mapping is used to code generated by the Deployment Manager is to have an additional code and the procedures/functions at WB_RT %.

Why this happens, no idea on that body.

    Please let me know.

    With respect,
    Murielle...

    Hi Ricardo,

the code generated in the mapping Editor shows you how your mapping logic is transformed into sql and pl/sql.
When the mapping is deployed some audit is added and some identifiers that reference objects in the runtime environment are defined.
Which is why you should not deploy the code generated manually, always deploy via the control center.

    Kind regards

no idea why this is the case?

I do not understand the sysdba/oracle connection. I mean that you sign in as the user SYS as sysdba user.

When you connect as user sys (is the oracle password for this user), you specify the user name and password AS SYSDBA option. If the connection string would be something like

    sqlplus sys/password_for_user_sys as sysdba
