Oracle 11g r2 Linux backup voting disk and OCR

Hi experts

I want to back up the voting disk and OCR for our Oracle 11 g r2 on broadband, what is the best way? Thank you

Hello

Oracle Clusterware automatically creates backups of OCR every 4 hours. At all times, Oracle Clusterware still retains the last 3 copies of backup of the OCR that are 4 hours old, aged 1 day and 1 week.

See this link

If you want to save your metadata ASM which includes (OCR and voting disk) tape
You can create a script to let the backup agent judge with the backup job, and then copy it to the tape library

  • Installation of the disk and OCR files voting in ASM

I am preparing to install clusterware GR 11, 2 and ASM on a pSeries IBM AIX 5.3 running node cluster. My question about placing the files OCR and Vote in ASM disk is what disk group ASM is used? Should I put them in the Group of database files, control files, etc.? Or should I place them in the Group of disks for the log files and the recovery area? Or is it not important?

I've referenced the Network Infrastructure Setup Guide, but I'm still confused. Any advise will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    Hello
Management should use a Diskgroup separated for OCR and Vote. I have the habit of creating a Diskgroup using normal redundancy (3 LUN) to files Clusterware.
Currently starts is used for different purposes (FRA, ACFS, Clusterware files, database files, etc.) is highly recommended to use a diskgroup for each use. It will make a big difference when you do maintenance on start (like add/remove the disks/diskgroup, duplication, etc.)
    Oracle RAC FAQ:
Best practices for ASM must have 2 starts. Best practices for OCR to ASM are to have a copy of the OCR in each diskgroup.

  • Oracle 11G on Linux

    Hello

I installed Linux Fedora 12 on one Machine virtual Vmware and now I want to install Oracle 11 G on this Linux VM.

I started reading the Oracle 11 G for Linux Installation Instructions and if I understand correctly, I need to install some software called Xterm on the Linux server first, then install Xterm on my windows xp workstation, you will get so the two xterm talk to each other and there you go with the Oracle 11 G Installation.

I read the Intsructions correctly? Otherwise, please enlighten me on how to install Oracle 11 G on Linux Fedora.

If so where can I get the correct software to Xterm and the correct version for Linux?

    Hello

If you are installing directly from linux server you need not install any software of xterm.
    Just run the command
    xhost + root server.

This command gets the GUI for Oracle Universal Installer prompt.

If you want to install Oracle on Linux of Windows Server using ssh connection (puty) then you need to install software to install on your system windows xterm.
For linux you just have to enable x 11 utility transfer, this service allows the customer connected GUI.

  • What is voting disk?

What is use of th of the vote drive, once the voting disk fails now wt the clusterware status how can pick us up?

The Oracle Clusterware is comprised mainly of two elements: the voting disk and OCR (Oracle Cluster registry). The voting disk is a file that contains and manages the information of all the memberships of node and OCR is a file that manages the cluster and RAC configuration.

  • We can export runing DB oracle on linux backup file to the shared folder windows directly?

    Hi friends;

We can export runing oracle DB on linux backup to windows shared folder file directly using exp utility (using the user exp = aaaa file=\\10.10.10.xx\backupfolder...)

    concerning

If you use "exp", you could use an installation of the Oracle Client (which has included in it exp) on Windows and connect to the network (using an LMO connection string) to the database on the Linux server.  This way, the dump file is created by Windows exp.

Otherwise, if you don't know how to mount your Windows file system to Linux (I have not), you can run Linux exp.

  • Oracle 11g remote connection problem

When I try to connect to the Oracle database using SQLPlus or SQLDeveloper remotely I get the following error.

    ORA-01017: INVALID USERNAME/PASSWORD; logon denied.

    Server details:
Oracle 11g on Linux Enterprise 4
I can connect to the server using SQLPlus.

    Customer details:
    Windows Server 2003 enterprise Edition
    Oracle 11g Client.
Remote computer my TNSPING to this server works perfectly.

For the same connection string, I can't connect to the client. I don't know that I type wrong password.

Any thoughts on this will be helpful.

    Thank you
    Smith

If it's a sys user you will need to set the password file to connect to the database as sysdba user remotely. and we do not need to check if the privilege to connect is given to the sys user or not. adding to this remote_login_password check = EXCLUSIVE lock

  • Oracle 11g and Linux woes

I'm trying to install and run the client Oracle 11 g for Linux on Ubuntu 10.04

    Now, I made these:

    sudo bash
    Groupadd oinstall
    Groupadd dba
    useradd oracle
    usermod-g oinstall-G - dba oracle
    passwd oracle
    mkdir OU1/Pei/app
    chown-r oracle.oinstall /uo1
    chmod-r 775 /uo1
apt - get install do binutils gcc elfutils unixodbc pdksh sysstat
    mkdir/home/oracle
    chown-r oracle.oinstall/home/oracle
    xhost local: VMLINUX files
    Su - oracle
    DISPLAY =: 0.0; Export DISPLAY
xclock # to check if the display works.
    *. / runInstaller *.

I get the checklist of items that must be corrected, deleted, so I simply ignore and completion of the installation. But when I run a command in the installed folder, such as log/no sqlplus , sqlplus will not start.

    Why is this?

Also, which version of Linux is supported by Oracle 11g?

    Thank you.

Have you read and listen to the installation guide?

Of course, as you know, Ubuntu is not a supported platform.

That said, the error you report the OS shell informing you that there is no executable file called "sqlplus" is located in one of the directories listed in your PATH.

    Side comments:
You should not install oracle as root.
You should not run any utility oracle as root.
You should not use root for any task at all who does not absolutely require it.

  • 11.2 voting disk backup

    Hello

Backup and restore disks with right to vote using DD are only supported in earlier versions of Oracle Clusterware 11.2.

With Oracle Clusterware 11.2 voting disks contain more information. Therefore, we don't have to work on voting records with jj. This is true regardless of whether or not the disks with voting rights are stored in ASM, on a cluster file system or raw / block devices (which could still be the case after an upgrade).

Given that SD should not be used to back up the disks of voting with 11.2 more, with voting records are saved automatically in the OCR. Because OCR is automatically backed up every 4 hours, with voting records are saved indirectly, too. Any changes to the information stored in the drive to vote - for example, because of the addition or removal of nodes in the cluster - triggers a new backup of drive with right to vote in the OCR.

  • RAC: Backup to disk OCR and vote

    Hello

I read that OCR/vote drive benefits automatically every 4 hours, but in my system is not saving.

PROT-25: manual backups for Oracle Cluster registry are not available

How to set up automatic backups of OCR.

    Concerning

OCR backups are performed automatically every 4 hours... I mean 4 hours of continuous operation...

I see the details above you posted that there is no OCR backups (both automatic and manual is not available) and the RAC is freshly installed.

You can use the ocrconfig - manualbackup as root for OCR and voting disks for backup
