Oracle Database 10 G R2 upgrade to 11G R2
Hello all,.I sat down with a particular situation, and hoped some tips.
I currently supports Oracle 10 G R2 installation with one of my clients. It runs on Red Hat Linux. I struggle a bit with the environment as my only customer commissions Linux environment without an X environment. Having said all that, it is my preference to upgrade the databases and the schema, I to 11G and put them under Windows purely because it opens the personnel of non-Unix administration. Applications that use the Oracle DBs are not very critical missions or strong intensity of resources so the loss of performance by moving to Windows is not an important factor (although all comments on this approach, we read with interest).
So to cut a long story, which would be my easiest upgrade option? I have master them Oracle (read: "a lot of tinkering but no training").
Any thoughts or advice?
TIA
Warren

10g R2 no RAC-database unique Instance to upgrade to 11g R2-2 node RAC database
Hi all
I have a requirement for my client.
We have a three databases with replication between them activated by MV & MV connects to the 10 g R2 database.
This must be upgraded to Database 11g R2 with a 2 RAC node.
Please tell us how to get started and go.
Also please notify once upgraded to database 11g R2, how replication can be achieved.
Thank you
Vijayaraghavan.K
> We have to first upgrade to 11 g R2 Instance unique and then move on RAC - node 2
You must install the grid Infrastructure for Cluster and RAC database software in the new cluster.
Then upgrade the database as a single instance database.
Then, convert it to the RAC
See http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/rac.112/e17264/install_rac.htm#TDPRC185 for the conversion of the measures.

Upgrade to the 10.2.0.4 release without Oracle Database 11g
Hi everyone, I need to upgrade the OWB Production current client version:
Client version: 10.2.0.1.31
Version of the repository: 10.2.0.1.0
Database version: Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.5.0 - 64 bit Production
to the 10.2.0.4 release, using the patch # 7005587 (uploaded on Metalink)
I have red as the Patch Readme and I found that it is necessary to migrate to Oracle Database 11g.
Now my question is this: can I apply the patch above WITHOUT upgrading the database?
The customer asked me if it is possible to continue to use the 10 g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.5.0 and upgrade OWB to the 10.2.0.4 release... Is this possible?
Thanks in advance for your help
AlexHello
In my view, there is some lack of communication happening. 10.2.0.4 OWB can be used with Oracle 10.2.0.5.
We even had OWB 10.2.0.5 running against Oracle 10.2.0.5According to me, that there are some bad this info in the patch readme file. OWB 10.2.0.4 includes support for Oracle database 11g (as a Source). This is a major change incorporated in this version.
Thank you

The upgrade of the Oracle Database 11g while maintaining the forms on 10g
Hello
I am relatively new to the oracle application servers and forms.
In my view, it is possible to upgrade the database to 11g but let application servers and forms on 10g. I can't find it mentioned explicitly in documentation, but she seems to be involved.
Someone at - it encountered problems with the database running on 11 g and leaving forms, application, the interfaces running on 10 g servers.
Thank you

The view is a table of the components in the part. And the fact synonym refers to the view.
Hi Charlie
Take a look atAfter the upgrade the management of identities of 10.1.2.0.2 to 10.1.4.2 INTERNET_APPSERVER_REGISTRY. SCHEMA_VERSIONS is invalid (Doc ID 557591.1)
You have improved your IDM to 10.1.4.3 so (although the title speaks about 10.1.4.2 (I think that the problem addressed in the document of support applies to your situation. In short, the invalid view can be ignored - and goes the same for the synonym... IAS_VERSIONS... I think it is a synonym for the view - and therefore is too marked as invalid.

The Oracle Express Edition XE upgrade to 11g (11.2) using DBUA
Hi all
I have a server Oracle xe on a platform of red hat linux 4, I need to upgrade to 11g (11.2) using DBUA.
This is the first time for me to use DBUA, I'm following the steps described in the Oracle database upgrade guide.
I'm a little confused, I have a very basic question:
in step pre using DBUA, when I install the 11g, can I install the oracle software only, or can I also create an 11g database?
in other words, I have the impression that the DBUA will upgrade the XE database itself, change the data files and tables of the tenth to 11g?
Thanks in advance for your time. You did not mention the full version of your database in the tenth. If one 10.2.0.1, you cannot improve it 11.2 using DBUA directly. First, you must update at least to 10.2.0.2 before going to 11.2.
Please refer to Metalink Notes 980693.1 and 837570.1 for more details.

Why a sql statement has become slow after upgrade to 11g database
Hello
My previous version of the database is 9I and any sql statement are well-developed.
but after upgrading to 11g database, a sql statement become slowly.
My senior dba friend told me there are a few different calculating methods from 9i to 11g.
is any body can explain this different methods from 9i to 11g, and what should be attention to calculate at what level 9i to 11g. I thank.
SeanThe administrator of yours is correct. What he meant, 9i, the works of the optimizer with different formulas and 11 g, there are different formulas. PS this sometimes causes when you upgrade from 9i (or even 10g too), analyze the queries that worked with RBO in 9i perfectly and used indexes, all of a sudden they stop using it because the CBO think not that this is a good choice. It would be too difficult to put formulas here by anyone, but what I can say is that to buy a book.
http://www.Amazon.com/cost-based-Oracle-fundamentals-experts-voice/DP/1590596366And practice on 9i, 10g and 11g. It would say a lot of formulas used by oracle.

Yesterday I could connect fine, but today I got this error.
How can I solve this? Thank you...
Developer SQL resides on the same system as Oracle DB.
What has changed is that I placed the files ojdbc6.jar and ojdbc14.jar is in F:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_45\jre\lib\ext and F:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_45\lib\ext because I work with a Web site of jsp that access the oracle database.
The problem is that ojdbc14.jar is is for Oracle Database 10g Release 2 and I work with is 11g, so I left the ojdbc6.jar in both paths and now Developer SQL works, thank you very much!

I took "Oracle Database 12 c: new performance management and Tuning" the oracle University training. Now I would like to get certified on "Oracle Database 11g: Performance Tuning 1Z0-054 ' exam. Is this possible?
I guess you ask if you can use the course 12 c as long as the condition of course for the review of 11g. Over 12 c is not listed as one of the options for the 11 g certification and course requirements are normally specific version - at least with DBA certifications. If you are already an Oracle OCP DBA, of course, there is no requirement of course for the review of performance tuning. From what I know the training requirements for other certifications, I do not that you will be able to use it. However, Brandye will provide a definitive answer to whether the course 12 c would be acceptable for 11g certification.
That said, I'm with John - 12 c review is about a community of 85 to 90% in the review of the 11g and is currently about 20% of the price while it is in beta. What is the point of trying to cross the releases?

Server problems of Oracle database since the upgrade to 5.5 Update 2
Hello world
Reach out to see if someone else can meet the same problems we are experiencing. Since his arrival at 5.5 to day 2 5.0, we have experienced some problems with our servers, Oracle Database 11.2 running on Oracle Linux 6.2. Nothing really the consistency between the question, brief description of what we had problems, we had 2 VMS are inaccessible, another who froze this necessary and the most recent reset which displays the virtual machine entered mode isolated, requiring a person to get on the console to access the network. Before the upgrade, these virtual machines have been broadcast for years without any problem. The only common denominator issues is the upgrade to ESX 5.5 Update 2. Any input would be really appreciated.
Thank you
Ken
Hello world
In collaboration with HP and VMware, we believe that we have narrowed it down to the question of the 554FLB firmware and driver adapter, have updated and environments have been stable, we keep our fingers crossed.

Upgrade of several instance of Oracle database even in home page
Dear guy and gurus,
Now, I've seen 1 question about upgrading 11.2.0.3 Oracle database software (linux 5.8 x86_64bit) to 11.2.0.4.
My test system have 1 primary database and 1 basic logical standby that is running on the same machine, using the same home Oracle (11.2.0.3).
When you use DBUA to upgrade the new Oracle Home software at Oracle, he just can't do for 1 database at a time. So, if I run dbua for the primary database to 11.2.0.4, then the logic of the day before still remain with the former home of Oracle 11.2.0.3.
In this case, logical standby cannot receive log of the primary database archiving for sync more. So, I want to do my concern here, looking for the solution of one of you guys.
No response, you will enjoy.
So thank you and best regards
