Upgrade to EBS and oracle database examples database
Hi all
I'm upgrading our database of 11.1 to 11.2.0.4 EBS Note 1058763.1 said the examples of oracle database installation is required. The database examples guide also gives this link: Oracle database software download | Oracle Technology Network | Oracle
But the link does not 11.2.0.4 software file linux 86_64.
Am I missing something here...?
Kind regards
Vinod
Hello
The two 11.2.0.4 of the database and the CD examples are available in the patch 13390677.
The part of the database is included in the files 1 & 2.
The examples CD is in file 6.
Kind regards
Bashar

Difference between PeopleTools and Oracle database to remove?
Hello
I am a newbie to PeopleSoft/PeopleTools. I deleted a folder out of my Oracle database 10 g
DELETE FROM table_name WHERE LASTNAME = 'smith ';.
deleted 1 record
Yet, when I connect on PeopleSoft Ent. The recording shows always when I do a search for the user? I did a refresh on the database and recorded in PeopleSoft and its still there? any help is appreciated.Again, I think that you must double check the name of the table that you have removed the employee of.
Your examples of queries have been by name and not EMPLID. I assume you have the EMPLID. My first action would be to run the following query:
Select * from PS_PAY_CHECK where emplid =?
If you get even a SINGLE shot, return to your system administrator and tell him that you refuse to follow his instructions, because that his request to do is illegal. You don't want to be the scapegoat, if there is some sort of fraud that is going on here.
If the person has not been paid on your system, and then deleting the person is possible.
People Soft provides tools to achieve this. Execute us on a regular basis. This should be the direction that you are using. Again, ask your system administrator why delivered tools do not work. There should be some kind of rational way to achieve this. If it can't give you a valid reason, I would clean up my resume. The guy is asking you to do things that you should consider saying no to. Because you are a beginner, you should at least ask for the supervision of a more experienced PeopleSoft Developer.
Assuming you have exhausted all your options for delivery and system administrator gave you a valid justification, you can run this script to generate a set of queries to tell you all the tables where this person exists.
SELECT ' SELECT "' | A.TABLE_NAME | "' AS TABLE_NAME, COUNT (1) TO ' | A.TABLE_NAME | ' WHERE EMPLID = "?"; '.
FROM DBA_TAB_COLUMNS HAS
WHERE A.COLUMN_NAME = 'EMPLID.
AND THERE ARE
(SELECT 'X' FROM PSRECDEFN
WHERE A.TABLE_NAME = ' PS_ ' | RECNAME
AND RECTYPE = 0);Don't forget to replace the question mark with the EMPLID. This has generated about 5 000 queries in my system.
Know that you are wandering in a very scary place here. There are some valid reasons for deletion in the scenes, but you should exhaust all other options, first.

Linux and oracle database installation best practices windows
can anyone recommend the guide of best practices for the installation/design of windows/Linux oracle database servers.
Microsoft, sql Server, provide a number of useful resources on the evolution of the default parameters that can die of hunger the operating system of resources, where to and where not to store the data in files/logs etc etc, but I've yet to find a similar guide for Oracle. Research on best practices during the installation/initial design in order to avoid the risk of recovery/redundancy later on any line, reliability, availability, performance. Guidance most welcome.

(2) what is the architecture and sybase ASE teredata follows as oracle doesn't.who have more beneficial to architecture?
Teradata 3) following a transact sql (I guess) what?
(4) teradata have backup archiving and recovery feature is it identical to oracle RMAN?

Link between Oracle database 10g and Oracle database 11g database
We have a database from Oracle 10 g to which connect us with SID = mod
The TNS names file is present in the directory Oracle NETWORK\ADMIN on the development computer contains the following two entries among others
MOD =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP) (HOST = 10.70.10.23)(PORT = 1521))
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP) (HOST = 10.70.10.21)(PORT = 1521))
)
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SERVICE_NAME = mod)
)
)
NEWMOD =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP) (HOST = 10.70.10.7)(PORT = 1521))
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP) (HOST = 10.70.10.9)(PORT = 1521))
(LOAD_BALANCE = yes)
)
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SERVER = DEDICATED)
(SERVICE_NAME = MOD)
)
)
In the SQL client we can log on to the mod and newmod each with its own username and password.
To create a link of database as follows
CREATE newmod CONNECT TO DATABASE LINK Public user1 IDENTIFIED BY password1 USING 'newmod ';
the database link is created without problems.
However, in trying to retrieve data from tables in the database that uses 10.70.10.7 and 10.70.10.9 using a command like
Select Column1 table1@newmod;
We get the following error:
ORA-12154: TNS: could not resolve the connect identifier specified
How can access us the tables at the entrance to tns newmod because it resides on a server 11g, while tns mod entry is on a 10g Server? (both use the same service name, but are located on different ip addresses)
Your help is very appreciated.
Have you set TNS_ADMIN variable? Check if you have any additional TNSNAMES file. ORA in your ORACLE_HOME files.
Point A of TN-entry NEWMOD to a host. Load Balancing is not needed.
Try to create the dblink with the connect descriptor.
create database DB_TEST link to connect to SCOTT
identified by "password" ' (DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP) (HOST = 10.70.10.9)(PORT = 1521)) (CONNECT_DATA = (SERVER = DEDICATED) (SERVICE_NAME = MOD)))';

Is the zip file download of Oracle Database 11 g include doc and examples
Hi Experts,
I download Oracle Database 11 g Release 2 Standard / Enterprise Edition from here:
[http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/index.html]
Its size is 2 GB for Microsoft Windows (32-bit).
When I click to see all the link. It opens this page (Please check this page):
[http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/112010-win32soft-098987.html]
It shows all Oracle database 11G database components links user who want to download.
I want to download this: (to the first link on this page)
Oracle Database 11 g Release 2 (11.2.0.1.0) for Microsoft Windows (32-bit)
Download win32_11gR2_database_1of2.zip (1,625,721,289 bytes)
Download win32_11gR2_database_2of2.zip (631,934,821 bytes)
This page also shows a link for:
Oracle Database 11 g Release 2 examples
Download win32_11gR2_examples.zip (565,154,740 bytes)
Examples of use of the Oracle database. Download If you're new to Oracle and try some of the examples in the Documentation.
Query: Is - this downloadable zip file includes documentation (which indicate in the link documentation in his Direction) and Oracle Database 11g Release 2 examples?
Or should I download separately for Oracle database 11 G, documentation, examples.
Please say.
Thank you.Documentation 11 GR 2 individual files can be downloaded from http://www.oracle.com/pls/db112/homepage
The installation guide for the examples is http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/install.112/e24501/toc.htm
A full CLOSURE of the documentation can be downloaded from the link to http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/documentation/database-093888.html
(available from http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/documentation/index.html#database)
Note: The documentation is all updated for 11.2.0.3 However, download of the software is for 11.2.0.1 only because the 11.2.0.3 of the software requires a Support contract.

Hi, for the life of me I can not the HR schema installed.
With OEL6 and Oracle Database Linux 12.1 c
With the help of the wizard and advanced configuration, I chose to include sample patterns. Everything installed OK. However, none have been installed.
I then downloaded the examples file, unzipped, installed. All right.
Tried to follow: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E16655_01/server.121/e15979/installation.htm
but also:

Can someone tell me please in the right direction?
Took forever (it's really the first time I use Oracle, no knowledge of database), but I finally got it to work, so I'll mention it right here for others to take advantage if all goes well. As I am new, some of these steps might not even be necessary, I'm not sure
Turns, even if I have included diagrams of the sample in the installation, the only installed pattern was the Scott schema. Unfortunately, that was not the HR schema.
You will need to download the examples of schema file and install it.
Then follow step 1 in the following post:
https://community.Oracle.com/message/11234394#11234394
Who said you have to understand an Earphone for your PDB (not the PEH).
So just add another entry for your PDB if you do not already have one in /u01/app/oracle/product/12.1.0/dbhome_1/network/admin/tnsnames.ora #note: directory names different. Mine was too
Important part is the (SERVICE_NAME = pdborcl) or what is called your PDB.
Stop and start the listener:
lsnrctl stop $
lsnrctl start $
Follow step 2 in the same post above to change the script of human resources which should be /u01/app/oracle/product/12.1.0/dbhome_1/demo/schema/human_resources/hr_main.sql
Or, just manually change the following lines in "BOLD". In the following example I changed it to my PDB called pdbtvts:
REM =======================================================
Grants of REM of the sys schema
REM =======================================================
CONNECT sys/&pass_sys@pdbtvts AS SYSDBA;
REM =======================================================
REM create schema hr objects
REM =======================================================
CONNECT hr/&pass@pdbtvts
Then, it is important that YOU do activate HR user having limited SESSION, otherwise you won't be able to connect. This happened to me.
Thus, under where the user hr has permission (over these lines, us has just edit), add the line in bold below:
GIVING CREATE SESSION, CREATE VIEW, ALTER SESSION, CREATE the SEQUENCE at the time;
GRANT CREATE SYNONYM, CREATE DATABASE LINK, RESOURCE, UNLIMITED TABLESPACE to the hour;
GRANT RESTRICTED SESSION on time;
Now, you need to connect to your PDB. Connect as sysdba as usual, which by default connects you to your PIC.
$ sqlplus / as sysdba
You can see that you are connected to your PIC if you issue 'show con_name '.
SQL > show con_name
CON_NAME
------------------------------
CBD$ ROOT
Connect to your PDB by using the following command "connect sys/XXXXX@pdbtvts as sysdba" where XXXXX is your SYS password
You must be connected to your PDB now.
SQL > show con_name
CON_NAME
------------------------------
PDBTVTS
Now, run the script:
SQL > @?/demo/schema/human_resources/hr_main.sql
You will be guests 5 things
1 hr user password - enter a password
2. name of the default tablespace - type "users."

How start sqlplus on windows7 host running the Linux oracle database?
OK, thanks to I can now run sqlplus. What a fight!
Now this forum works on a host linux on a windows host. What I need to install on windows, so I can run sqlplus on windows to manipulate databases of the linux guest?
I know that I can install all of the oracle database. I want just the sqlplus on windows.
If I install just the sqlplus on windows, can I expect to be able to create databases, fill and interrogate Windows?
Thank you
SiegfriedTry:
sqlplus user@'hostname_or_ip:port/service_name'
for example sqlplus test@'192.168.1.131/orcl' (assuming that the default port 1521).

RonVirtualBox manual would be a good place to start, especially the section on the sharing of resources between the host and the client. It is essentially a question of network base, not a related programming at all.
