Oracle database user authentication

When some users changed the default password that had been attributed to them, they entered their password to something like 123tmp. Oracle Apex, I created a form with the "run immediately modify user...". "process. I had to add the quotation marks "" ' | " password <>| "" "before their password. Otherwise, once they have changed their password, they would never be able to log - on once again. What has always happened with the first digital characters password and the rest are alphanumeric. However, it was fine when the entire password is a number. May I know why this happened? Why I had to use double quotes in the alter? This has happened to all Oracle database versions. Is this a bug?

Thank you.
Andy

Hello

Usually the Oracle password should begin with an alphabetic character.

You will find the rules on the link below:

http://asktom.Oracle.com/pls/asktom/f?p=100:11:0:P11_QUESTION_ID:595223460734

From * Oracle 11.1 password may be case sensitive.

Hope this helps.

It is a symptom of textbooks classic does not have read and followed the original instructions to prepare the downloaded files.  You should have two files zip files.  They both must be decompressed in the same directory.  If you unzip using Windows graphic interface - in right click on the name of the file and selecting "extract all...". "the default behavior will be to create a directory, the same name as the zip file and extract in it.  Thus, file_1_of_2 pulls in directory_1_of_2 and file_2_of_2 extracted in directory_2_of_2.  You must override this stupid behavior by default and specify the directory yourself.  And specify the SAME directory for both files.

Or just go to a command prompt, change directories to the directory where the two zip files are located and deliver "unzip " and "unzip ", and they will both be properly unpack to a directory named "database".

  • Customized for the Oracle database authentication

    Hello.

I am a developer in a company that provides the authentication secure with our authentication tokens. We follow BYOD - authentication strategy bring your own device. Currently, I need to develop a plugin/library/application etc which will allow the authentication of Oracle database with our chips and I'm looking for an easy way to do this in .net.

As a complete newbie with Oracle, I found that it is a software product that is rather complicated with tons of options and documentation. So I ask for help. What is a minimum set of tools, applications, SDKs to develop a custom login procedure? Now I'll search OAAM + OAAM .net SDK http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/doc.1111/e15480/ignet.htm. I was born in the right way?

My company is not yet an Oracle customer, but potentially, we can buy Oracle Db. Although we did not need and would prefer not to buy. We just need to develop the authentication procedure for customers who use Oracle and also use our secure tokens.

    Hi, 951553,
You are on the right track if you are a developer, but I would also recommend to make known to the 'ecosystem' of the token authintication. Then read this: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E28271_01/doc.1111/e15478/osts_scenario.htm

  • TimesTen - 7001: user authentication failed when using XLA

I installed TimesTen 11.2.1.8.0 on AIX 5.3 System.* user 'oracle '. I created another user of the application 'risk' to use in my application with TimesTen.

When running my application with the user 'risk' to connect with TimesTen it is OK. But when I want to use the XLA feature, when I call the createDurableSubscriber function, it returns the error

javax.jms.JMSException: failure of SQLDriverConnect (XlaCommon.c, line 48): S1000 7001 [TimesTen] [driver ODBC of TimesTen 11.2.1.8.0] TT7001 [TimesTen]: user authentication failed - file "db.c", lineno 9722, procedure 'sbDbConnect '.

It is strange that if I switch to user 'oracle', it works fine.

Can someone please help understand the reason why.

    Thank you

You created the user 'at risk' within your TimesTen database?

CREATE a USER risk IDENTIFIED BY 'some password'?

You granted the privilege of the user risk to use XLA?

    XLA GRANT at risk;

Have you used this user name and password in the JDBC URL when connecting to the database application JMS/XLA?

The 'oracle' user is probably your admin user of the instance (which is the database root) and therefore can use all the features without special action (but of course you never run application as that user).

I had to go back and look at some documentation on our application server. If these steps do not work for you, you may need to click on 'Help' in your business manager and search for 'DADDY' or "Database Access Descriptor".

    According to these steps:
    1. connect to Oracle Enterprise Manager (http://finserv1:1810) - this would be the name of your server and port
    2. click on FIN_Midtier_1.finserv1 - this would be the name of your application server
    3. click on HTTP_Server
    4. click on Administration
    5. click on properties of PL/SQL (link at the top: application server: FIN_Midtier_1.finserv1 > HTTP_Server > mod_plsql Services)
    6. scroll the page to the Section of DAD
    7. click the Create button (right part of the screen)
    8. Select Type of DADDY of the general and click on Next (step 1 of 2)
    9. start to fill in the information of connectivity for DAD
10 to precede the name of DAD or a location to a / pls in this example: / pls/findadgen
    11. username: enter the user name where the stored procedure (READ_PDF)
12 password: enter the password for the user name that you just entered.
13 Connect String is the database you want the DAD to connect to (the READ_PDF where)
    14. the connection string format is: TNSFormat because the connection string is resolved through tnsnames.ora
15 get the language NLS value by running the following query against the schema/database this DAD is to be setup for:

    select value, parameter
      from nls_database_parameters
     where parameter in ('NLS_LANGUAGE', 'NLS_TERRITORY','NLS_CHARACTERSET');

    VALUE PARAMETER
    ---------------------------------------- ------------------------------
    AMERICAN NLS_LANGUAGE
    AMERICA NLS_TERRITORY
    WE8ISO8859P1 NLS_CHARACTERSET

Enter the value in the form: _.< nls_characterset="">
In our example, we have: AMERICAN_AMERICA. WE8ISO8859P1

    16. default Page: enter the name of the procedure that will be called if it is not specified in the URL. In our example, we use the name of the procedure: read_pdf
17 Authentication Mode: the default value of Basic
    18. then click on Next (step 2 of 4) at the bottom right
    19. click on next again (step 3 of 4)
    20. click OK (step 4 or 4)
    21. your done. Don't forget DAD or any changes made to the DAD will not take effect until the server is restarted. Take the necessary steps to get this done.

We then get an image with the chapters of dads who shows a name or location of/pls/findadgen, the user name, connect the string and status (green arrow - maximum)

If you get SQLPLUS work SQLDeveloper (thickness jdbc/oci/instant customer) is definitely worth a try.

I don't know what the problem with your configuration of the proxy usecases that I am familiar are:
    Through the UI SQLDeveloper

There are two ways to make proxy connections:
where p1 is user proxy and c1 is a client of the proxy:

method 1/single session (if no 2nd password or unique name required)
    Main connection popup
    user: p1 [c1]
    password: p1

    2/two method session
    Main connection popup

Cloud Computing service for the Oracle database schema

I'm in the middle of do a proof of concept.  Basically, I need an application with security of the stored data, UI, user, data loading, and able to post data via an external web service said.  It seems that with the database schema Oracle cloud service, it is not possible to use web service references that are not in the field.

If I try to use a service via http reference, I get:

ORA-20987: APEX - the requested URL was forbidden. Contact your administrator. -Contact your administrator of the application.

If I try to use the same reference service via https, I get:

I read somewhere that cloud services only https can be used.  Is this true?

And then I read somewhere to use the protocol https, the portfolio must be configured to store certificates, etc.  However, I read somewhere else that the portfolio cannot be configured because there is no access to the instance database with the Oracle Cloud Computing database schema service.  Is this true?

If both are true, how can I make a call to post data to an external web service?  Or do I need to use a different Cloud Computing service?  Or do I need my own instance of Oracle DB?

Any help would be great.  Thank you!

It turns out there was a problem with the remote rest service.  After successfully calling a rest service that was created using SQL Workshop, I tried different remote rest services and they all work.  Sorry for the confusion.  I thought it was very strange that the schema of database service wouldn't be able to do it easily.
