  I am currently updating an old Oracle database. The last phase is to apply foreign keys (their absence on the PB at the moment). It is fine - the keys are easily identified - but it will cause a problem with some of the application that uses these tables. It is written in Oracle Forms (version 10g, although a large part of the code is from an earlier version). In some forms, the block order is such that the detail is committed to the master! Of course, this now gives a constraint error. This was done largely for the purposes of validation, for example. to check some detail item exists before committing the master.
  
  What is the best way to solve this problem now? Is the trigger of the POST-FORMS-COMMIT the best to use for validation?

  The only idea I have for this would be to "rewrite" the userexit-standard pl/SQL code and proceed in the same way (POST-FORMS-COMMIT)

• use of the SYS database user

  Not a question, I can me asking, but I'm looking for a complete as a possible answer to this question:

  Where maintenance of eBS, upgrade,... is clogging, the SYS password?

  Reason for asking is: database administrator - who is not a Director of the eBS - asks if it is possible that the SYS password is maintained by DBA only, not by Apps DBA.

  For clarity; It is database SYS user, no SYSTEM.

  An Apps DBA, I want access to the SYS account for various reasons:

  -Grant/revoke privileges on schema objects (esp for the customer drawings)

  -Maintain the database (change data files, storage spaces,... etc)

  Start/stop of the database

  .. etc.

  If you have two different groups on your team (Apps DBA and Core DBA) who maintain the database/application so he can take care of the above. However, if your Apps DBA are the only ones who take care of all the components of EBS, then having access to SYS is required.

  When some users changed the default password that had been attributed to them, they entered their password to something like 123tmp. Oracle Apex, I created a form with the "run immediately modify user...". "process. I had to add the quotation marks "" ' | " password <>| "" "before their password. Otherwise, once they have changed their password, they would never be able to log - on once again. What has always happened with the first digital characters password and the rest are alphanumeric. However, it was fine when the entire password is a number. May I know why this happened? Why I had to use double quotes in the alter? This has happened to all Oracle database versions.   Usually the Oracle password should begin with an alphabetic character.

  I did exactly what documents said, and it will not be through any error but atlast when I try to access access database tables it gives me the error below

  I guess that your listener.ora always has a section of SID and you did not copy paste... Then please post the entire file

  Please open a command line window and do:
  C:\oracle\ora9I\bin\hsodbc
  After all output including the call.

  Once you change the listener, please stop and start the listener called odbc1: odbc1 stop lsnrctl and lsnrctl start odbc1

  You can just pass null in each of these when programming workstation.
