Oracle Goldent Gate and replication/integration

Hi gurus,
There are a lot of articles around to detail the benefits of the door of gold as the strategic replication with limited functionality of transformation.
I can't find much information about the limitations of the Golden Gate.

Please help me with some details

Thank you
Charles

Limits are explained in the documentation of installation:

  • Combine dissemination and replication integration

    Hello

    I'm new to the Golden Gate.

    I would like to know if a combination of replication of the integration strategy and distribution is best way to achieve the two-way replication so that we can avoid conflicts?

    I mean, if I have 2 data source A and B, I will raise a built-in source 'C' such as A and B will merge and C. I have implement a replication of dissemination of the merged data from 'C' return to A and b. Such a facility is still possible, and does make sense? It will help prevent conflict?

    Thanks in advance for your advice and suggestions.

    -SS

    You can do it, but...:

    Where does she live data merged on A and B? Another scheme? If you don't mind using resources and additional storage to duplicate/repeat your data, go ahead. However, you should always take account of conflicts in C when the new flow of A and B happen, so everything that you do use another instance (you have the license for this?) and move the matter from one place to the other. Just deal with the resolution of conflicts at A and B and be done with it.

  • TimesTen database and replication

    Hello gurus,

    I want to know how robust is the transactional replication in real time of TimeTen.

    We currently have RDBMS Oracle and using streams and we are planing to use TimesTen in memory DB.

    In the current configuration we have challenges with replication using streams and knowing that Oracle is more interested in the development of Golden Gate as replication solution, I wonder how good or robust TimesTen real-time transactional replication is and Oracle is committed to provide the upgrades and updates to the solution of replication of the ot.

    You will appreciate your opinion on this.

    Thank you
    Solene

    Hi Eric,.

    I'm not biased, because I do not work for Oracle :).

    First of all, what type of replication that we are talking about? Oracle DB-> TimesTen to TimesTen-> Timesten?

    For TimesTen-> Timesten replication, there is only one way - to use the predefined settings. This replication is working very well, unfortunately I did not performance testing, but I trust Chris in this issue. I tested the replication of Active-Standby pair (works with Oracle Clusterware) and it works fine as well.

    For Oracle DB-> TimesTen replication, you have a few options. Will what type of cache group you use? How many operations per second of your DB Oracle is the treatment?
    You can use the predefined TimesTen mechanism or Golden Gate (recommended for high load).

    Hope this helps.

    Best regards

  • Oracle Golden Gate

    Hello

    I maintain a database for a very small app using oracle. But now I want to maintain a different database that is the exact replicated data from my original database and this replication can't happen in real time (two databases oracle). I had a few questions in this regard,

    1 - golden gate/oracle oracle workflow will be used and why one over the other.
    2 - is the minimum bandwidth required to ensure this replication
    3 - If the Golden Gate is the answer, how should account required to my situation I go about setting up golden gate?

    I do not understand oracle, but I'm not an expert. However all entries in this respect even if it should be at the level of experts is truly appreciated.

    Concerning

    AJ

    Hello

    1 - golden gate/oracle oracle workflow will be used and why one over the other.

    Yes, both of which can serve your purpose. River is the part of Oracle database itself and it also serves other than replication. Golden gate was not a product Oracle that it was recently acquired by Oracle and it works on heterogeneous platforms, so both can serve you, but both have a lot of different things and have different purposes as well.

    2 - is the minimum bandwidth required to ensure this replication

    Depends on the amount of data you are replicating. Since your application is quite small, so I think that the normal Ethernet network should be good for you.

    3 - If the Golden Gate is the answer, how should account required to my situation I go about setting up golden gate?

    It's a very long history and can be summed up in this forum. You should take a look at the documentation to this effect.

    I assume you mean unique vs unique index constraints?

    The sole (or Primary Key) constraints provide additional metadata that can be used by the optimizer.

  • Establishment of multimaster environment on 11g and replication

    Hey guys

    I think I'm getting my guide install completely fake. We implement 4 multimaitres servers. Allows to call the A B C D. Also, each have say 4 created suffixes. Say S1 S2 S3 S4. Here are my questions.

    The steps that I take are

    (1) installation A and B
    (2) created the suffix S1 S2 S3 S4 (empty on both servers)
    (3) allowing the Master Replica (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E19424-01/820-4809/bcaqf/index.html)

    Now run us the server command has to B
    the host $ dsconf enable-repl - port d ReplicaID Pei h master DN suffix

    If the command is on a server? Also is the correct syntax?
    $ dsconf enable-repl - h HOSTA Pei 1 389 master S1 S2 S3 S4
    Then on server B
    $ dsconf enable-repl - h HOSTB Pei 389 2 master S1 S2 S3 S4

    (4) create replication agreement (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E19424-01/820-4809/bcaqj/index.html)

    The command is: $ dsconf create-repl-agmt - h consumer of suffix-ND - p port of the host-host: consumption-port [consumer-host: consumption-port]

    So now the server has (will be this replication of configuration on both directions? IE A-> B and B <-A? or need additional commands?)
    $ dsconf create-repl-agmt - h HOSTA Pei 389 S1 HOSTB:389
    $ dsconf create-repl-agmt - h HOSTA Pei 389 S2 HOSTB:389
    $ dsconf create-repl-agmt - h HOSTA Pei 389 S3 HOSTB:389
    $ dsconf create-repl-agmt - h HOSTA Pei 389 S4 HOSTB:389

    (5) to import data into the suffix (S1 S2 S3 S4) ONLY on the server a (Correct?) This will launch the replication on the server B.

    ========================================================

    (6) install C and D
    (2) created the suffix S1 S2 S3 S4 (empty on both servers)
    (3) allowing the Master Replica (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E19424-01/820-4809/bcaqf/index.html)

    Command is on Server C
    $ dsconf enable-repl - h HOSTC Pei 389 3 master S1 S2 S3 S4
    Then on the server!
    $ enable-repl - h dsconf PASS Pei 389 4 master S1 S2 S3 S4

    (4) create replication agreement (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E19424-01/820-4809/bcaqj/index.html)

    If the C Server (or on a server?)
    $ dsconf create-repl-agmt - h HOSTC Pei 389 S1 HOSTA: 389
    $ dsconf create-repl-agmt - h HOSTC Pei 389 S2 HOSTA: 389
    $ dsconf create-repl-agmt - h HOSTC Pei 389 S3 HOSTA: 389
    $ dsconf create-repl-agmt - h HOSTC Pei 389 S4 HOSTA: 389

    $ dsconf create-repl-agmt - h HOSTC Pei 389 S1 HOSTB:389
    $ dsconf create-repl-agmt - h HOSTC Pei 389 S2 HOSTB:389
    $ dsconf create-repl-agmt - h HOSTC Pei 389 S3 HOSTB:389
    $ dsconf create-repl-agmt - h HOSTC Pei 389 S4 HOSTB:389

    $ dsconf create-repl-agmt - h HOSTC Pei 389 S1 HOSTD:389
    $ dsconf create-repl-agmt - h HOSTC Pei 389 S2 HOSTD:389
    $ dsconf create-repl-agmt - h HOSTC Pei 389 S3 HOSTD:389
    $ dsconf create-repl-agmt - h HOSTC Pei 389 S4 HOSTD:389

    Then on the server!
    $ dsconf create-repl-agmt - h SPEND Pei 389 S1 HOSTA: 389
    $ dsconf create-repl-agmt - h SPEND Pei 389 S2 HOSTA: 389
    $ dsconf create-repl-agmt - h SPEND Pei 389 S3 HOSTA: 389
    $ dsconf create-repl-agmt - h SPEND Pei 389 S4 HOSTA: 389

    $ dsconf create-repl-agmt - h SPEND Pei 389 S1 HOSTB:389
    $ dsconf create-repl-agmt - h SPEND Pei 389 S2 HOSTB:389
    $ dsconf create-repl-agmt - h SPEND Pei 389 S3 HOSTB:389
    $ dsconf create-repl-agmt - h SPEND Pei 389 S4 HOSTB:389

    (5) replication should kickoff importing data in C and D of A and B

    =========================================================

    Please guide me where it is an error and the correct procedure to install 4 servers multimater and replication configuration between them

    The command is: $ dsconf create-repl-agmt - h consumer of suffix-ND - p port of the host-host: consumption-port [consumer-host: consumption-port]
    So now the server has (will be this replication of configuration on both directions? IE A-> B & B)<-A? or="" need="" additional="">

    "create-repl-agmt dsconf" creates only a unidirectional replication agreement. In ODSEE there is no such thing as a two-way replication agreement. You must define how changes should circulate and create a new agreement for each link. So in your case, if you would like the changes made on B to A, then create another series of agreements from B to A.

    (5) to import data into the suffix (S1 S2 S3 S4) ONLY on the server a (Correct?) This will launch the replication on the server B.

    N ° import does not disable replication, only the updates. If the suffix S1 on B is empty, then you init it before it can receive updates a. Your choices are

    1 Init has. Then online at init from A to B (dsconf init-repl-dest)
    2 Init A. A export (dsconf Pei 389 S1 to export), copy the LDIF to B and init (dsadm import)

    It might be easier to see option 2. So:
    -Initialize all suffixes on A
    -Export all suffixes of four. This will ensure that all instances will get the same copy of entries (including all replication metadata)
    -Copy the files LDIF for B, C and D
    -' Import dsadm' run in parallel.
    -create the repl agmt as you want (a one-way ticket)
    -make a change on one and watch it appear on the other three.

    I use HANDLECOLLISIONS to resolve this error, but in doing so, the updates are run as duplicates.
    In the source table, there is no unique key constraint and therefore the target.

    Is there a way I get a solution to this problem.

    I use HANDLECOLLISIONS to resolve this error, but in doing so, the updates are run as duplicates.

    More difficult to understand what that means, I do not see update errors, which would be general ora - 1403 any data available.

    In the source table, there is no unique key constraint and therefore the target.

    But more specifically, you get a unique constraint violation:

    Your information seems to conflict itself. You will not have a full understanding of the concepts then I suggest you dive a little deeper into the docs and please pay special attention to the use of atCSN/afterCSN. • JavaScript JSON and ApEx integration

    In the community of ApEx, I see a lot of developers to extend their applications with JavaScript and JSON libraries. I would do the same thing to enjoy all the beautiful widgets, gadgets and gizmos that have been developed in the world of script.

    What is advice to better introduce the use of a script library?

    Team ApEx Oracle has an official thought on the extension of the ApEx in a script library?

    Y at - it a library which is recommended?

    Team ApEx does intend to extend their own library users don't need to use 3 parties?

    Have others using these issues experienced the 3rd-party libraries related to upgrades of the ApEx?

    I need a solution that is solid as a rock (no bugs) and bearable. The apps I support now have over a thousand users. Applications run on our company intranet. It would be undesirable to make calls outside our network http.

    Kind regards
    Todd

    Todd,

    We have certainly will continue work on the library, with the main objective on the realization of full namespace (to reduce the risk of collisions with different libraries functions) and the integration of jquery (making use of the features of the great library of basic such as chaining DOM selectors, improved, etc., but not of jquery UI).

    While it is currently possible to integrate with other libraries and many people have had great results with it, there are other plans for the future which should make life easier. To know custom item types, which allows developers to more easily code and reuse 3rd widgets to party in their applications.

    Another plan is what we call "Dynamic action", which will allow developers to set declaratively in the APEX for example activation, deactivation, display client side logic and hiding items. It is about making life easier for developers who do not want to dirty their hands with JavaScript, but still want to achieve such functionality in their applications.

    But I do not think that we could reach a point where "users have no need to use 3 parties. We are not all things to all people, different people have different requirements and tastes. For this reason, providing the best scalability (through custom item types) is the goal.

    We will also improve the documentation on the library, since 3.1, we had a few docs in chapter API user guide, but we will look to improve it with more detailed in future examples.

    Hope this helps,
    Anthony.
