  If you simply need to restrict access to your site, or a part of your site, there is an easier way to do it, using Apache htpasswd, but this solution is very limited and not suitable for use with clients, there is no interesting features people expect, as the ability to reset a lost password.

  Otherwise, Yes, you will need to learn some PHP and SQL.

  You will start by setting up your development computer with an Apache web server, which comes with PHP and possibly also MySQL. There are free versions, such as XAMPP, but I prefer Zend Server, which costs $195.

  Dreamweaver includes data 'tools' to the CS 5.5 version and there are third-party plugins available that will handle the data functions, but to really make things right you need to learn how to write your own code and don't mess with the tools who write code for you that you can not understand and are difficult to change.

  I think that David Powers PHP Solutions book is a good introduction and also includes a tutorial on building a password access system that is fine.

  Thank you, Jeff.  I found on another thread to uninstall other Adobe products and then install them after you have installed the CS product.  I uninstalled elements and CS4 installs fine now.  It's kind of a pain, but at least I can use it again.  I hope that I can re - install items with no problem, I like to use the photo database in the program elements.  Thanks again.

  I had to replace my hard drive and so I had to reinstall Premiere Pro CS4. I tried to do with the files that I had downloaded before, but the installation failed and gave me the error message "the Installer database is corrupt. Please contact Adobe Customer Service.

  I assumed that the files I downloaded have become corrupted, so I opened a session and re-uploaded the files ADBEPPROCS4_LS7.7z and ADBEPPROCS4_LS7.exe. I ran ADBEPPROCS4_LS7.exe and it also failed and gave me the same error message. I tried another download on a different page and got the same error again.

  It would probably never work. CS3 is same not hold for Win 7. Delete the caps.db in the folder selections respective (info here) and then take the usual steps to run as administrator, disable UAC and security tools and possibly using compatibility modes, but as I said, be prepared that this may be useless and you spend a Sunday afternoon without achieving anything whatsoever...

  Help!  You wanted to install this on my new PC. I had no problem at the origin of the installation on my old PC.  I have discs... but cannot go beyond disk #1.  I don't want to turn it off from the old PC, if I can't get it back.

  Did a little more digging.  I had to delete this file: program files Files\Adobe\backup\caps.db

  and then the setup.exe has started working.

  I installed Oracle 11 g in the following location: ORACLE_HOME=/oracle/app/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1. Version installed is 11.2.0.2.
  
  I wanted to apply the PATCHES 11.2.0.3 group before installing the database. but I forgot...
  
  Two questions please:
  -Now, what should be the procedure to do this, and then I should have installed database in the 11.2.0.3 directory instead of 11.2.0 (see above).
  -I want db in the specified directory, and then I want to apply force patches to update to 11.2.0.3.

  Correct with 11g you do an upgrade out of place, which puts the new 11.2.0.3 in its own homepage (space is needed :))

  Once you have installed (software only) 11.2.0.3. You can use use dbua to upgrade your database to 11.2.0.3. Basically, it goes up in mode 'upgrade', runs the upgrade scripts and RECOMPILE invalid. Then you should be good to go. You are then free to uninstall 11.2.0.2.

  I have the Photoshop CS4 extended drive and try to install it on a new computer, windows 7. I disable it on the old computer. When I put the disc and you try to install, I get the message that it's corrupted. I can't find any downloads for this product only the new. There is no database of caps to remove, because I have not had the program on this computer again. I PSE11 on it and it has a caps.db file. Could this be the problem? Should not be a completely different installation? Anyway, if I can't get help online, I'll have to call Monday, but I was hoping to get this installed over the weekend.

  UPDATE. I uninstalled all adobe products on my computer and delete each caps I could find and then was finally able to install 4 CSP. I tried after each uninstall and it did not work until everything was off. I then reinstalled PSE11 (Yes, I have both) and am now reinstall adobe reader and flash.

  If ever I decide to move to 6 PSC I hope I don't have to go through all this again.

  What a pity that Adobe does not have this info on the support site. I found it by searching for the error here and watch I don't know how much of threads and finally found one where people uninstalled everything and it worked for several others in the thread.

  I have a huge problem with that.

  What I want to do is:

  I want to create a system (in LabWindows/CVI) this will (among others) allow users to send simple messages to each other. So I want to create a MySQL database , which will be based on a server. Other computers running the system then is able to remotely connect to this database and read a certain table to see if they have new messages. I want that the client computer to connect through the LAN to the database on the server.

  But how can I do this?

  1. How to create a database that can be connected through the LAN?
  
  
  2. How my connection string should look like not on the client computer?
  
  
  3. What configurations on the client and server computers can I do?

  Any help is appreciated, and if you could suggest how can I do to reach my goal. I'm a very competent programmer, but HATE those network things.
