  Thank you, Jeff.  I found on another thread to uninstall other Adobe products and then install them after you have installed the CS product.  I uninstalled elements and CS4 installs fine now.  It's kind of a pain, but at least I can use it again.  I hope that I can re - install items with no problem, I like to use the photo database in the program elements.  Thanks again.

  I am trying to install Dreamweaver CS3 on my new Windows 8 PC and when I run the installation program. EXE, it says "the Installer database is corrupt" on my original CD and the backup that I did.

  It would probably never work. CS3 is same not hold for Win 7. Delete the caps.db in the folder selections respective (info here) and then take the usual steps to run as administrator, disable UAC and security tools and possibly using compatibility modes, but as I said, be prepared that this may be useless and you spend a Sunday afternoon without achieving anything whatsoever...

  Did a little more digging.  I had to delete this file: program files Files\Adobe\backup\caps.db

  and then the setup.exe has started working.

  Please make sure you that if you have other applications of Adobe version installed as 3 CS, CS 5 or 6 CS.

  Make sure you have the serial numbers for the same thing.

  The best option would be to contact the technical support that can remote into your machine & troubleshoot it. Contact the customer service
