Oracle instance is running but sqlplus "virtue sysdba" says connected to idle.

Hello
Oracle RAC is running (started the CARS with "srvctl start database hacmp - d") but when I am trying to connect to the database using sqlplus 'virtue sysdba' he says 'connected to an idle instance.

No idea what could be the problem here?

I have exported ORACLE_SID.

    Hi all

    I have a 11.2.0.4 database installed on Linux 6.5 customer virtualbox.

    I access the database through the client linux itself.

    I was able to initially managed to connect as SYS, and I've updated the password using the alter command.

    However, I am now unable to connect externally as SYS using third-party applications such as developer of Toad or sql. (Yes I put it to SYSDBA) (I can connect applications, so external connections are accepted).

    And when I try to open a session with the command of "virtue sysdba" sqlplus, I get the error message ora-0107 name username/password invalid.

    I logged in as the SYSTEM user and changed the password once again, but still no luck. I made sure that we do not use a password file.

    Can anyone suggest anything else to try?

    See you soon,.

    Russ.

    Hello

    Yes, the host is Windows Server 2003.
    I created a new service for the new SID. Followed all the steps to make the change

    How did you create the Oracle database Service? Have you used ORADIM to remove and create the new Instance?

    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/B19306_01/win.102/b14304/create.htm#i1006533

    If you have created the new OracleServicePRTLservice, check who is started correctly.

    Then try a connection as follows from a DOS window:

    set ORACLE_SID=PRTL
    sqlplus / nolog
    connect / as sysdba

    Hope this helps.

  • Cannot install apps CC because "another instance is running" - but there is no?

    Hello

    I can not install all the apps CC, when it comes to 42/43% I get an error message saying that another instance is running and I have to wait until it is finished before that I can resume my installation.

    But there is no other instance running.

    I have already contacted Adobe support chat, but as my OS (Windows 10) and CC are in Dutch, they couldn't do much.

    I tried to close the process through the Task Manager.

    I hope that someone knows something or has had the same problem. Also a month ago, I was able to install Photoshop, InDesign, and Acrobat without any problem.

    Thanks in advance.

    If it is still giving the same error even after trying these steps.

  • A question about the Oracle SQL Developer Oracle instance connection

    Hi all

    I would be grateful if you could kindly give me a helping hand.

    Recently, I installed the Oracle 11 g on Linux (ubuntu 8.10) database. I not create startup scripts. So here's how I start the server: (my linux user name is "dariyoosh", but in order to start the server I have connection on the terminal shell as user 'oracle')
    dariyoosh@alborz:~$ su oracle
    Password:
    oracle@alborz:/home/dariyoosh$ cd
    oracle@alborz:~$ ORACLE_SID=database01
    oracle@alborz:~$ . oraenv
    ORACLE_SID = [database01] ?
    The Oracle base for ORACLE_HOME=/u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/db_1 is /u01/app/oracle
    oracle@alborz:~$ sqlplus '/as sysdba'
    ...
    SQL> STARTUP NOMOUNT
    ORACLE instance started.
    ...
    SQL> ALTER DATABASE MOUNT;
    ...
    SQL> ALTER DATABASE OPEN;

    Database altered.
    Then I can work without any problems with my database and everything works pretty well. Today, I decided to install Oracle SQL Developer IDE as it makes it easier to modify the SQL code. My problem is that after reading the tutorial Oracle online, that I am still able to connect to my database. Firstly according to the method that I wrote, I have set up the Oracle instance. But then when I run Oracle SQL Developer I don't know what to choose for the user name and password? because since SQL * Plus shell as you can see I always write: "sqlplus 'virtue sysdba' and it does not prompt me for any password, I can access the database directly." Any idea? What password? What user name? for Oracle SQL Developer?

    Thanks in advance.

    When you connect "/ as sysdba", you actually connect as the user named SYS from the privileges of your operating system. SYS is the owner of the database and a privileged user. You really want to use this username for the day to day operations, but only for what can do only SYS. If you need a different user name. Several Oracle databases have a user named SCOTT who has a number of tables for use tutorial. By default, the password for SCOTT's "Tiger." You may also have other demo users, such as "HR". I admit that I forgot what is the password of the HR, but it doesn't really matter because SYS can change with this command:

    ALTER USER hr IDENTIFIED BY whateveryouwant;

    This command:

    SELECT USERNAME FROM ALL_USERS;

    lists all the users in your database. Understand that many of these users are there as owners of objects such as stored procedures and tables for Application Express, or TYPEs for Oracle Locator, not for general use. When you are ready to create your own objects, ask SYS create a username for them with

    CREATE USER myusername IDENTIFIED BY mypassword;

    and grant that user the privileges as necessary. You'll want to read before you get too far - I think that the developer of the Application Guide is a good starting point.

    I have a database rebounded after taking permission from the team of apps, now it works perfectly... no problem whatsoever...

    But I want to know why... I don't want to deal more...

    Whenever oracle installs [YES], it knows what to assign permissions and what is needed.
    You should not disturb them, who are the users, groups, executables, read, write permissions before and after any change and now?
    And I wanted it is interesting to know why you wanted to test these things on the production. Its like playing with fire, so be careful, otherwise it costs a lot :)

  • Test the Oracle Instance on the smaller box (RAM problems)

    I got the task of taking an existing database of production and creation of a database of test on a much smaller box. The production box has 48 GB of RAM and eight CPUS (Itanium running HP - UX 11.23). The test box has four gigabytes of RAM and a processor. We had a process in place in the past to do this for Oracle 9i. All the data files, redo logs and Oracle 10g binaries are hosted on an HP EVA SAN, so we use snapshot or mirror of the cloning technology during the production on the test server instance.

    On Oracle 9i, we used to copy the data, delete the control files, then run a script to create new files of control for the test instance. I don't know if the old 9i writing work and have not yet tested this part. Mainly because I have problems to get the test instance to start reliably in the first place. When I copied all the data on, I changed the tnsnames.ora to reflect the host name of the new machine. I made a few adjustments in the file init.ora for production DB as well. At the beginning, I was able to start the database and everything seemed fine. But when I tried to stop him, he gave me the following error message:

    [07:32] [oracle@OracleC:~]$sqlplus "/ as sysdba"]

    This error is broad enough that I am certain that what he means is a bad server configuration of database for me probably a problem in the init.ora or SPFILE with a parameter that is calibrated for 48 GB box, not the box of 4 GB.

    There is also a little info. When I try to start the DB and it's just sitting there, my only way out is to kill the process only oracle executes:

    Oracle 4370 4365 247 09:27:18? 09:59 oracleprod (DESCRIPTION =(LOCAL=YES) (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = DOB)))

    Then I run "ipcrm". But if I run "swapinfo", it always indicates that most of the system's RAM is eaten up:

    I can't to free up RAM (which is usually about 20% used) after the start of Oracle attempt. The kernel parameters are defined for Oracle9i recommendations, so that they should not be too far from what is recommended for Oracle 10 g.

    I worked on it for about two or three weeks and I am almost of ideas. So any suggestions are welcome.

  • Sqldeveloper virtue sysdba connection

    I'm a total newbie in Oracle.

    I installed Oracle 11 g R2 XE.

    Also, I installed 3.2.20.09 SqlDeveloper version.

    I have Java Version 7 update 25

    I generated the auto connections, and I have 2 connections. One is: sysdba of virtue and the other: System-XE

    I connect to the XE system successfully, but when I try to connect as sysdba in SQLdeveloper (at the same time I can connect the hollow SQL command line) I get this error:

    java.lang.Error: Incompatible version of libocijdbc [Jdbc:112030, Jdbc - OCI:112020]

    any help would be really appreciated since now I was looking for the solution almost 3 hours.

    I solved it on my own. I replaced the jdbc jar files in the jdbc/lib folder and now it works. just downgraded jdbc drivers to version 11.2.0.2
