Oracle startup guidence reqd

I am running Oracle 11 g on Windows 64 platform.

1. I have stop the database with an immediate halt. And I had not stopped the Oracle services.
2 then is stopped server.
3. when I restarted the server, databases have increased is tht because without stopping the Oracle service. I want to be consistent there.

3. when I restarted the server, databases have increased is tht because without stopping the Oracle service. I want to be consistent there.

N ° when you installed Oracle, services (some of them) were created with the Automatic Startup Type. Which means they will start automatically whenever you restart the server.

Even if you stopped the services manually, they start always until the next time that you restart the system.

If you want to prevent this, you must change the Startup Type to manual.

    Please specify what contains the size of size fixed and Variable?

    I mean what components are fixed and Variable size?

    Thank you!!

    Kind regards
    Sabrina

    Fixed size is somewhat like a "bootstrap". It's not exactly a bootstrap. Think of it as a part of memory where all associated CMS pointers are initialized for the first time. The variable size is the sum of the Shared Pool, the pool of Java and the large pool. I suggest you read AskTom thread below, which explains a lot better that I did.

  • Oracle on Debian 7 12: 'oracle' is not created.

    Hi - I know, of course, that debian is not supported, but I've worked with Oracle for many years, and it is usually impossible. And others have claimed success, so I should be able to as well.

    I had a few failures when linking, which I thought I solved, but a number of files done with size 0. run to reissue that all fixed some of them, but not 'oracle' itself. How to re-edit this one? In fact, all the following have this problem:

    expdp extproc impdp oracle rman tnnfg trcldr dg4pwd

    It doesn't seem to be a target in the makefiles.

    If you all know so well and are so experienced, why must you ask? I see you got a professional response and reasonable suggestion. I see no valid reason to attack someone who was tyring to help and suggesting to use a supported operating system. Please keep in mind that here, nobody has to respond to your request.

    The Oracle database installation requires an updated development environment the and some software packages that are obviously different under Debian and Red Hat based Linux distributions, this is why the program linking fails.

    If I remember correctly, I've posted a guide for Debian 6 around January of last year, but I can't find any more. Maybe he got lost during the forum was last updated. I also wrote various other guides to install Oracle 11 g and XE on Ubuntu, that could be useful. Unfortuantely, many people have literally copied the information and used it to shine on their own blogs without giving any credit to the source of information. Lesson learned.

    Google search will be your best option. For example:

    Installation of Oracle11 and Oracle12 on Debian Wheezy, Squeeze

    There are a few problems however, probably because some info has simply been copied from someone else. For example, the oracle startup script should use su to oracle and not su - oracle, which replaces the local variables, etc.

    Hi guys! Please I need help.
    Recentlly I installed Oracle 10 g on Linux Enterprise 5.4, the finished good, instalation I loged in isqlplusselect a few example of table, but then when I reboot to start computer oracle can't, I changed/var/opt/oracle/oratab the opsion 'Y' in oracle sid: oracle home.
    When I manually start isqlplus and try to connect, I get this error "ERROR ORA 12541: TNS: no listner, I tried to start id form/oracle/bin, but I gess, it's not working."
    Can someone help me with this, I mean how can I start to oracle, and what I need to chang for automatic start
    Thank you

    OK, here's what you need to do to 10.2.0.1 (I guess that's what you mean by 10 gr 2):

    1. open the dbstart script located in /home/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/bin

    2. search for all occurrences of the string "/ ade/vikrkuma_new/oracle" and replace it with "$ORACLE_HOME". This is a known bug fix.

    3. edit/etc/oratab and set option to Y for the database that you want to start automatically.

    4. create a file /etc/init.d/dbora as root with the following content (defining the correct values for ORA_HOME and ORA_OWNER):

    #!/bin/sh
    # chkconfig: 345 99 10
    # description: Oracle auto start-stop script.
    #
    # Set ORA_HOME to be equivalent to the $ORACLE_HOME
    # from which you wish to execute dbstart and dbshut;
    #
    # Set ORA_OWNER to the user id of the owner of the
    # Oracle database in ORA_HOME.

    ORA_HOME=+path_to_your_oracle_installation+
    ORA_OWNER=+your_database_sid+

    if [ ! -f $ORA_HOME/bin/dbstart ]
    then
    echo "Oracle startup: cannot start"
    exit
    fi

    case "$1" in
    'start')
    # Start the Oracle databases:
    # The following command assumes that the oracle login
    # will not prompt the user for any values
    su - $ORA_OWNER -c $ORA_HOME/bin/dbstart
    ;;
    'stop')
    # Stop the Oracle databases:
    # The following command assumes that the oracle login
    # will not prompt the user for any values
    su - $ORA_OWNER -c $ORA_HOME/bin/dbshut
    ;;

    5 set permissions for the new file (replace "dba" with defined during the installation of Oracle dba OS group):

    # chgrp s/n /etc/init.d/dbora
    # chmod 750 /etc/init.d/dbora

    6. run:

    # chkconfig--level 345 released on

    Restart and test if the DB starts correctly.

    I hope this helps.

    A: one of the approaches is to use dbstart and dbshut by init.d scripts

    Another way is to create your own script. To do this, create your own 'freed' in the directory /etc/init.d/ script

  • How to set up the database restarts automatically when the server starts?

    Hello

    What is involved if I configure Oracle database starts automatically when the server is started/restarted?

    I guess that change the following entry in/etc/oratab
    DEVDB:/u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1:N
    TO
    DEVDB:/u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1:Y

    The platform is Redhat Linux 64 bit (version 4.7 & v5.9).

  • Shell script to catch DB

    Hi all

    I have oracle DB in Amazon EC2. This DB will go down and I have to make every day.

    I want to write a shell script that checks the State of the DB and do.

    The things I do is

    Log in as root
    Su - oracle

    sqlplus
    user name:
    PWD:

    If DB is down, it shows error.

    So I'll do it again
    Log in as root
    . / stopPageview
    Su - oracle
    sqlplus
    user name: sys as sysdba
    PWD:

    the judgment
    startup

    output
    output
    . / startPageview

    How automatically using shell script?

    Concerning

    Step 1 of the oracle user

    startup mount;
    alter database recover managed standby database disconnect from session;
    What do you guys to deal with this scenario?

    Hello;

    You have two numbers (three Admins counting system)

    1. you should cancel the recovery and stop the day before before they restart.
    2. you want to start to go up and start the recovery.

    I would probably change this to call a custom start and stop

    if [ ! -f $ORA_HOME/bin/dbstart ]
    then
        echo "Oracle startup: cannot start"
        exit
    fi

            # will not prompt the user for any values

    Do you you use different script names to avoid conflicts.

  • Oracle instance startup when starting (Oracle 10 g on Suse Linux 10.2)

    Dear Oracle expoerts,

    I have a problem with a server, Oracle 10g R2 to start on Suse Linux 10.2 at boot time.

    I created a startup script (see below) and this startup script works perfectly if I call it with
    /etc/init.d/Oracle start as user root.

    But during system startup it doen't work.

    I've placed links to
    /etc/rc3.d/S99oracle
    and
    /etc/rc3.d/K01oracle

    As you can see in my script I also wrote that all calls to my boot option to be independent of
    Variable environment since during my desperate attempts to start the database, I thought that I had a problem with my
    environment variables.

    Now I can not find any reason why the belkow script should not working at boot time.

    I'm happy for any help.

    Best regards

    Daniel
