Oracle UCM 10 gr 3 and webcenter 11g, WCM Portlets

Hello
I installed Oracle UCM 10 gR 3, Site Studio 10 gR 4 and Webcenter 11 g. Now my problem is how to get WYSIWIG (WCM Portlet), created at the University Complutense of MADRID to be found in webcenter spaces.

I understand after reading a few articles, it's the only way I can communicate is through WSRP (CIS and CPS), if it's the case u can suggest what is the difference between them and the one that is best for an Intranet Application. Please also provide an example for the portlet and steps to install locally.

I don't want to give all the answers at once. Fair share little by little, even if you have some knowledge.

Thank you
Pradeep.

I'm a Newbie!

Hey Pradeep.

You have many options to extract the contents of UCM in addition to CIS and by extension CPS WebCenter. The best article on the subject can be found here (if you have not already read): http://blogs.oracle.com/fusionecm/2010/04/oracle_ucm_integration_with_we.html

To more directly answer your questions, the difference between CIS and CPS is that CIS is the lower level APIs making communication with the Complutense University of MADRID. It serializes your request across the and manages response data that comes packing back up as an easy-to-use objects. CPS relies on the CIS as its backend to allow portlets to communicate with the Complutense University of MADRID.

For an intranet application, you have many options. Records management, I would recommend a combination of the taskflow of document library with a couple of CPS portlets (my workflow tasks, etc.). To retrieve content to display as part of an intranet "site" I would exploit the content Presenter taskflow.

If the content to retrieve active 10gr 4 Site Studio I would recommend instead that you roll your own simple content portlets. This is what we ended up doing to Fishbowl and reused them to great effect implementation of several intranet portals for different customers in a very short time. • Oracle UCM CIS - user authentication and connection to the virtual computer

    Hello

I have a few questions. I'm trying to integrate the University Complutense of MADRID with my custom web application.

    (1) is it possible to authenticate users (password validation) if we use CIS to integrate. If this isn't the case, then if the server of the University Complutense of MADRID uses its own database backend and not no matter what LDAP for user management, must make us a call to the database table directly? Any idea on the table?

    (2) if I am trying to connect to a server of the University Complutense of MADRID that runs on a virtual machine, but in the local network, I always get an error like this.
Failed to retrieve the configuration information for the content Terminal item. Permission denied. Address < < ip address > > ' is not an authorized remote socket address.
However, if I connect to an instance of the AAU runs on a server instance, the same code is running.
The server within the virtual machine console is accessible from my m/c through browser. So should I give access to this port to the socket connection 4444. Couldn't find anything on it. Any help will be appreciated.

  • Oracle Portal and Webcenter

    Hi all

We have Oracle Portal 10.1.4 put in place for our intranet and it works fine. We use for the past 2 years. Now, we'd like web2.0 applications

forums, wiki, voip to improve our interaction used. The below shot suggestion s to webcenters blog allows to choose the technique if it for a new implementation.

    http://blogs.Oracle.com/WebCenter/.

How ever may all explain please is a good choice to move to portal oracle webcenter for new requirements like forums, wiki, voip.etc...

If we we have an enough time to develop the application for forums and blogs (this could be done through Portal) is it interesting to get a webcenter?

We have only less content on the portal, most of them are content static managed by portal admins.

Please suggest me on this migration/choice of technology...

    Thank you
    -Prem

    Hello
We use the Webcenter Framework for a customer who is already on the Oracle Portal.
It's really a good product built by Oracle. Surely, you can migrate to webcenter taking into account the following points:

Easy integration and strengthening of Wiki, Blogs, Chat, Forum
Very easy to build, rapid development
WebCenter is provided with his own example for Forums of Discussion, Wiki (we have tried and tested that it works very well)
Support for Oracle Portal will be removed in the near future and Oracle itself supports the migration to Webcenter or BEA Weblogic portal (since now they bought BEA)
Can migrate to webcenter if you do not have to create new pages frequently (unlike the portal where you can create new pages / subpages on the fly, creating pages in the Webcenter application will you deploy the application again after construction it.)

However, there are some things that you should keep in mind:

WebCenter is relatively new, and as a result, there are a few bugs in version 10g
11g was released in beta version and if all goes well, there are many many improvements and I saw some features more (would be wise to migrate to 11g)
We are facing a few memory problems with webcenter applications, but mainly due to use of ADF Portlets in large numbers. (Hopefully resolve this soon)

    Hope these points are helpful.

  • Operation of indexing in Oracle UCM 11g

    Hi all

I'm using Oracle UCM 11 g on Windows platform.

I wanted to know also how indexing in Oracle UCM Funtions? Here are some questions more related to this.

    1. If characters from multiple languages are added in the document and the document is indexed, then
How data (tokens) will be stored in the database?
    2. How will the research work

    Hello

    1. If characters from multiple languages are added in the document and the document is indexed, then

    a. how data (tokens) will be stored in the database?

It is stored in the DB IdcColl1 or IdcColl2 tables (if engine DB FullText Search indexer) and the table would be IdcText1 or IdcText2 (if an indexer OracleTextSearch is used). It is these tables that store the data of all content and are referred to as / interrogated when a FT research is called of the Complutense University of MADRID.

    b. how the indexing will be done?

Indexer would have extracted the content in the case of mechanism of indexer FT all data and store them in the above mentioned tables in DB. It is stored in columns of type BLOB in the extraction process would make an insert for each piece of content that is being processed when Collection rebuild Cycle / program of automatic update is turned on.

    2. What are the settings to make in Oracle and search engine for this?

For DB relevant AAU scripts must be run while the correct role are created and packages.

    3. what will be the additional settings must be made in the case if the operating system changes, for example, Linux.

Relevant libraries must be checked to ensure that the indexer can access because there are a lot of dependent libraries for the process of indexer that is invoked by the TextExport process and these libraries vary for different OS. As part of the indexer process work very well everything what needs to be done is to install/activate specific versions of the OS to the ContentAccess on UCM component.

Hope this gives an understanding on the part of the indexing of the Complutense University of MADRID.

    Thank you

  • Enabling setting Unicode for Oracle UCM 11g

    Hi all

I want to activate the setting for Unicode in Oracle UCM true, so that it can identify (international language characters) unicode characters.

    I guess that the adjustment can be made in < WLS_Home > / user_projects/domains/< DomainName > / ucm/cs/config.cfg.

But what is the entry to add to the config.cfg to enable Unicode for Oracle UCM for this.

Currently "Use Unicode" attribute is set to false in the database connection details in Confiduration.

    Thanks in advance.
    Dipesh

    Hello

I don't know if DB encoding can be changed after it has been installed. But what you have now is not the right one for the AAU support international use. It should be AL32UTF8. Maybe just check with your DBA to confirm if it can be changed at all.

    Thank you

  • How to create the custom filter "addFiles" in Oracle UCM?

    Hello

I need help on creating a filter custom in Oracle UCM in which I want to integrate a code custom until the file is checked in fact means of the Complutense University of MADRID, this custom piece of code should be called when the user clicks on the Check-In on a profile button to check-in a document and before the document is moved to the vault directory.

UCM Check-In forms-> Check-In button-> [custom]-> Document moved to the vault dorectory as a native file-> after release document copied Weblayout directory.

I came across a filter named 'addFiles' that can be used to achieve this goal, as stated in the link below:

    https://jonathanhult.com/blog/2012/09/favorite-WebCenter-content-filters/

I'm kind of new at the Complutense University of MADRID and don't know how to implement it as a custom component or a custom filter...

Could someone please help on how to start or steps that must be followed?

    Thank you and best regards,

    Sanket.

The file must first be uploaded to the server. Your Java code will not work unless the file exists on the server. You can then edit this file before the rest of the consignment does not happen.

This component, you should get pointed in the right direction: https://bitbucket.org/jhult/pdfpagenumbers/src

  • All available UNIQUE authentication mechanism between WebCenter portal and WebCenter Sites - 11.1.1.8.0?

Can someone let me know if there is any solution SSO already existing (as OID/OAM?) to integrate WebCenter portal and WebCenter Sites.

  • Oracle UCM - metadata custom

    Hello

Thank you for taking the time to read this, I'm pretty new with the Oracle Content Management System. I use 11G.

I have a metadata field custom from which users select two options in a drop - down 'Yes' or 'No' - which is used by an archiver to determine whether this content is ready to be promoted to another server.

Currently, I have this default value for the field of metadata to the option 'No' and when the user is done with the editing of their content, they change to 'Yes' and return to the question in the content server. This step causes an issue - from here out, the custom metadata field is always on 'Yes' by default whenever the content item is retrieved for editing, instead of 'No' which is how I like it. I understand that the default setting can relate only to the initial creation of the content, but I'm looking for a way to replace it.

I tried to implement a Java component custom to solve this problem. In doing so, I have seen some progress using my custom Java code and the filter hook 'loadMetaDefaults' but this filter hook applies only when the metadata information are seen and not when contributors are only edit and resave (consignment) content.

In essence, I am looking for information on the following:

    1. is it possible to do a metadata field custom specific back to its default value for a content item whenever the point is checked on the content server?

2 If 1 is accomplished by the use of a custom component, which filter hooks (as appropriate) are executed whenever a content item is checked (not verified and archived).

If the steps above are not possible, I think there is a way for the archiver process pass the field of metadata once it has run, however, I don't think not that this is an ideal solution.

    Thanks again for your time,

    Josh

    Hi Josh,.

It is certainly possible meet your requirement. However, implementation may vary according to the few details. In fact, a similar request was recently described in another thread, see limiting access to metadata field for some people.

    In a Word,.

-You can by default all metadata of any value on CheckIn (not on the Fund). IMHO you won't need a filter here, a global rule should be sufficient

-as stated in the thread, you should consider the user experience. If the meaning is "ready to be promoted to another server", I assume that the right time to change the value would be the time when the promotion will run, wouldn't it? In fact, need you better a three-States-logic here: not ready - ready - promoted

  • What is the "Oracle UCM Desktop Integration Suite Helper" module in IE for?

I installed TELL 11.1.6.111 recently and happened to notice that in my Internet Explorer, there is as an add-on called Oracle UCM Desktop Integration Suite of assistancenow.
    What is it exactly?

I'm being too confident perhaps, but if this add-on can interact with SAY installed locally, we can have a chance to open the folder SAY from the web interface (if any)!

    Hi David,

The plug-in is the same as the object browser helper from O-Drive (legacy CMS). It is only used by SAY with servers of the CBD (content DB) in order to avoid guests to logon when you call the context menus of the advanced properties and sharing on a record or file in a server BDC connection in Windows Explorer integration.

From the point of view of WCC it is not used.

  • How to be sure if webdav is enabled in Oracle UCM?

    Hi all.

I know it's a silly question, but I need to know: How can I be sure if webdav is enabled and functioning OK?

    These are my specs:
    Windows 7 64 bit
    Desktop Integration Suite 11.1.1.6.0 64-bit
Oracle UCM 11 g in a Linux Machine

Thanks to the integration of Office I can create folders and add content with metadata. Everything is OK. But I need to create 5 files at the University Complutense of MADRID using the webdav protocol because they will receive the content of Desktop Integration, using Windows Explorer. Create them and they will be in the webdav protocol?
The folders_g and corewebdav components are enabled.

    I'm very confused about this.
When I tried to access the University Complutense of MADRID via this link:
    http://server:16200 / _dav/cs/idcplg/webdav /.

Nothing happens. But when I use this:
    http://server:16200 / cs/idcplg/webdav /.

I was 'impossible authentication to the content server. It is not possible to open the folder.

Thank you for all. And sorry again.

    Fernando

First of all, by http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/doc.1111/e10978/c08_folders.htm#CSMRC722 and ensure that everything is OK. However, if you can create folders to SAY, it should be (records a WebDAV are prereq for SAY). To SAY, you should also see the address - I guess that he'll show http://server:16200 / cs/idcplg/webdav /.

  • Oracle UCM with Site Studio - friendly URLs

    Hello

Sorry if this has been answered before...

    Scenario:

The 'real' URL to access a particular section...

    http://www.Server.com/sitename/ThingsToDo/LibraryServices/index.htm

To reach desired URL in the same place...

    http://www.Server.com/library/index.htm

Basically, I want to get rid of/SiteName/ThingsToDo/LibrararyServices and replace by only / library

I think I'd be able to do if the site was hosted behind IIS or was an Oracle HTTP Server infront. In its current form the site AAU runs in Weblogic 11 g. Is there a way to reach the actual URL rewritten using Weblogic or UCM?

Please let me know. Thank you!

    JDM

    It would be:

    library/index.htm => ? IdcService = SS_GET_PAGE & nodeId = 12345

1235 designating the real nodeId of your node/section http://www.server.com/SiteName/ThingsToDo/LibraryServices/index.htm
