Order of installations of Satellite P20

People have said on this forum that there may be a correct order to install drivers after a reconstruction, can someone tell me where I can find this list?

See you soon

Hello

Sorry, but for P20 is no installation instructions. I don't know, but this document, you can find to newer units. If you use Tools & Utilities CD on the right side there is always a small description of each tool and tips if another tool must be installed as soon as possible.

Good bye

    Hello world.

I want to perform a clean installation of Windows 7 on my laptop and to navigate on the driver page toshiba and forum for the correct order to install drivers & utilities, but without success. Could someone help me please?

    Hello

May I ask why you n t use disc recovery Toshiba which already contains all the drivers and tools?

In General, the order of installation is not so important. Just start with the chipset driver installation, then graphics card, LAN, etc.

Check some similar topics and you can find some useful information and advice. ;)

  • External monitor gives strange aspect ration with Satellite P20 XP

I have a P20-552 (PSP26E-025E9-S4), who is four years and works well with XP Home SP3. For more screen space while editing video I recently bought an external monitor - an Acer X193w. It shows everything what is shown crashed down a little bit, that is to say, but it should show., a circle has a distinctive oval to it.

It is plugged into my Toshiba with analog cable and the only resolutions that it will give me are 1280 x 1024, 1024 x 768 and 800 x 600 which none do actually correspond to the 1440 x 900 on my Toshiba.

I tried all the settings that I could find, made sure my BIOS and nVidia are up-to-date and I exchanged a few e-mails with Acer support on the subject. Their support staff is now leading me round in a circle ("it is plug and play," "oh yes, that's sounds wrong", "here is the pilot", "no, we don't give installation instructions" and so on) and still no joy. The screen plug and play perfectly with an another Vista laptop that I have, but I really like to use with my Toshiba faithful.

    Suggestions, please?

    Thank you, Brian.

    Hello Brian

Sorry, but I believe that there is not a lot, you can do it. It is 19 wide TFT screen and your laptop s video card does not offer good resolution for it. Display modes Satellite P20 cannot offer the resolution 1440 x 900 for external displays.

    * All you can do is try to change the driver display, but on your own risk.*

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

Drivers for laptops are designed separately. Usually if you want to use the driver for graphics card manufacturer's website there is often a Board use a driver designed by the producer of the laptop. It is very important because mobile cards have lower performance. One reason is the graphics card produces a lot of heat and should not damage other hardware components. I am sure that this driver is designed to protect the graphics card and does not allow that this card works above the limit.

If you are using another driver for the graphics card there is no limitation, and it can be very dangerous. I am sure that this error message is a kind of protection and don t allow the user to install it on the handheld device because of the protection of graphics card is damaged.

This isn't a problem of compatibility or something like that.

  • Satellite P20-102 - receiver remote not working do not after running recovery CD

    Hello

I am running Windows Media Center Edition and on my laptop Satellite P20-102.

I recently needed to run the recovery CD, the process went well except that my box of external remote control receiver provided with my laptop no longer works.

The box works with XP Media Center Edition and the remote control before I ran the recovery CD. The receiver is detected and installed on the computer when it is connected and recognized in device like a USB Serial Converter Manager. The inner light flashes about 4 seconds. When you press a button on the remote control light both in the housing of the remote control receiver if it receives the signal.

I guess it's a software problem, I can't find any information on the installation of the receiver or all the drivers for it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Kind regards

    Hi Paul

I also P20 but unfortunately without MCE. I can't give you any help, but in my opinion, you should try to contact Toshiba hotline in your country. Maybe it's possible that one phone call can help you manage this matter in the right direction.

  • Satellite P20-932 PSP26E - on the motherboard PCI resource conflict

    Hello

In a first step, that the USB port not working, I reinstalled Windows XP with the drivers from the Internet for Toshiba Satellite P20.

    1. Press Start button
    TOSHIBA screen
Press [F2] for INSTALLATION. Press [F12] to the boot device selection Menu
1.1 if I press F2 - replace the following screen:

    CPU = Intel (R) Pentium (R) 4 CPU 3.00 GHz
    ? M 047 system RAM passed
    ? 12K Cache SRAM passed
    System BIOS with a shadow
    Video BIOS with a shadow
    Fixed disk 0:...
    ATAPI CD-ROM:...
    Initialized the mouse
    ERROR

    Bus: 02, device: 00, function: 00

    Press [F2] for installation

    1.1.1. If I press F2 - nothing happens

    1.2. If I press F12: nothing happens

    2. If I press ESC and start the computer, it changes immediately on the screen 2nd with counting / checking of the system's RAM and Cache SRAM... with the same error. and nothing happens if I press F1 to resume or F2 for Setup.

Then my laptop is not booting and I do not get access to the BIOS! What can I do?

    Dieter cordially

    Hello

The error indicates that certain devices that are directly connected to the mobo are in conflict and try to share the same resources. This happens usually when the BIOS has been incorrectly installed or the motherboard is a failure.

In case you would recommend I affecting the default BIOS. But for that you need access to the BIOS, but it seems that it's not possible.

It seems to be a motherboard problem. You said that the USB ports do not work. Perhaps this is the reason for the error message and question PCI Serial Bus Controller.
You have USB devices connected to the laptop?
If so, just unplug the laptop and check again.

But what to say; If this does not help, I see a lot of options here. In my opinion the mobo must be replaced if it s really a motherboard problem

  • Satellite P20-771: Error Message blue screen after the reinstallation of the OS

    I have a portable Satellite P20-771 / Pentium 4 3.40 GHz (800/HTT) / XP Home / 17' with nVidia Geo5700 driver.

As I had a few problems with the software, and I reinstalled everything using the supplied CD. Unfortunately the canned computer malfunction sent me blue screen errors, which are due (it comes when I sumbit error to Microsoft) to device drivers. I've updated everything (I hope) of the Toshiba page, but I'm not an expert and I'm worried that I missed something or that something has not been loaded in the right order or that the parameter is incorrect.

I thank in advance for your help

    Roberto

    Hello

I read in this forum that the Blues screen error message appears due to hardware malfunction or malfunction serious software.
Usually after installing the new OS since the portable Toshiba Recovery CD should work properly.
It is not easy to say why the blue screen appears on you laptop.
Maybe you can post the content of the error message in this forum, and maybe we will find a solution.

  • New card 3D Satellite P20 and new application of keyboard

    Hey there,
    I had two questions today.

I wanted to get a new card for my Toshiba Satellite P20 3D
I don't want a new laptop since it is my baby.
My current 3d card is a nVidia Go 5200 32 MB.
I'm hoping to get 128 MB, although I'll just 64.

I am also looking for a new keyboard.

    Any links would be appreciated.

    Hi kei.

You can sometimes increase the amount of allocated RAM tom your graphics card by changing the UMA setting in your BIOS (at least you can with a Phoenix BIOS). If you access your configuration of the BIOS check to see if you can see (usually on the first page of the installation options). My BIOS A30 gives options of 16 MB, 32 MB, 64 Mb (default) and 128 MB.

For a replacement keyboard, see the following URL: -.

  • Can't install NVIDIA GO5200 on Satellite P20 graphics driver

I uninstalled my NVIDIA driver original because I checked the www.nnidia.com they have the latest version of the driver, so I thought it would be nice.

But the new driver does not work on my Satellite P20 and now I can't install my old driver because Windows XP keeps coming out with the message "cannot INSTALL THIS NVIDIA GEFORCE GO5200 YEAR DEVICE ERROR OCCURRED DURING THE INSTALLATION OF THE DEVICE ACCESS IS DENIED."

I need help. I check Microsoft Help and support site, follow through a few examples, but none seems not to work.
My last option is to reformat and reinstall Windows XP.
    Someone has a gantry solution?

    Hello

It's no surprise! It of not possible to install the original graphic drivers of the graphics card manufacturing!
Toshiba use own graphics driver and it are a bit changed due to overheating problems.
The graphics driver Toshiba control the graphics card temperature level. If the temperature rises to the critical level driver decrease the performance of the card to avoid overheating. Drivers graphic originals don't feature such support!

That is why it s always advisable to use the graphics drivers Toshiba!

  • Satellite P20-304 stops unexpectedly

I have a laptop satellite P20 304 coming sometimes turns off without warning.
The screen goes black and the power is off.

This sometimes happens during a search, but alos is writing a letter. If not necessary a high workload for the laptop.

Opening vents are free etc. I guess maybe an overheating problem, but wonder if this causes this kind of stop procedere.
Also - there no poping blue screen or report failure upwards by re-start such as "the system will be re-stored after a major system crash ect.

No idea what it could be.

I installed Sandra Sisoft to monitor the temperature, but it only shows me no module to control the temperature,
respectively, that it does not work.

My warranty runs out in June, so I want to make sure that I can claim any defect prior to that.

    Thnaks for any input,
    concerning
    Birgit

    Hello

It's not very easy to say why this laptop stops. It could be an overheating problem or a malfunction of the software. But I tend to overheat.
Well, the problem of overheating occurs due to her malfunctioning fans or malfunction of the equipment.
I assume that your warranty is valid, so I recommend you to check your laptop in service partner. Maybe, it can give you a good answer, why this problem occurs.

  • Satellite P20 S203: update BIOS after version 1.70

Hello! I have a Satellite P20 - S203 BIOS is Ver1.70, published on 20/11/2003. I think there pretty outdated now, but there has been no new versions for years and I think that this great computer, despite the old, should be more supported. What I don't understand is why they made an exit for the PSP23E and not for the PSP20E, that make the differences that they should deserve to be updated bios different?

Does anyone of you know about BIOS versions after 1.70 which allow the laptop to boot from SD cards or removable media? And that the problems of the management of multiple USB devices?
    Thank you

    Hello

I use P20 over two years, without any update of the BIOS. If your device works well I recommend you to leave. Boot from the SD card is not possible and update the BIOS will not allow this.

What problem do you have with the USB devices?
