  • all the songs are accidentally left organized files

    Hi all

I moved accidentally all my songs out their records organized iTunes.

The songs are all still in the music folder, but are now loose in there, and all of their files are empty.

I find that all my songs are still playing very well, but just do not know if maybe I should get iTunes somehow to put them all back (?)

Since then, I rebooted my Mac and reinstalled an .itl for her, so not looking is not a cancellation, but rather an organizing method that would not risk ruining his perfect current functionality.

    Any ideas on that?

    Thank you!

I think probably the best thing to do would have to drag the iTunes folder automatically added to.

iTunes 9: understanding the "Automatically add to iTunes" folder - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3832 - files placed in this folder are actually moved from this folder to the correct location in the iTunes Media folder.

  • CD importing and organizing files

    Let me try this again...

I've been going back through all my CD and re - import with better quality. I really hate the iTunes decided to organize my files. I don't I have a complaint about the iTunes Media > subfolders. I have a problem with iTunes is decide how organize the CD data itself.

    For example:

I import the CD 'Something to remember' Madonna. ITunes has decided that some of the sounds "Feature" another artist that this is a CD of Various Artists and decides to locate files in iTunes Media > music > compilation > something to remember.

This then forces me to go find the Album in iTunes and select "Get Info" and him saying that the "Album Artist" is Madonna. ITunes then decides with this selection that the best way to organize the data must move all except tracks 1, 2, 8 and 14 in iTunes Media > music > Madonna > something to remember.

Now I have 2 sites with data from a CD (iTunes Media > music > compilation > something to be aware (for titles 1, 2, 8, 14) and iTunes Media > music > Madonna > something to remember (for the rest).)

It is quite frustrating if you like to keep things organized!

It wouldn't be that large agree if we could just manually move files and iTunes recognize where they are.

I understand that I can change the XML file and change places, but it's a lot of work. It would be nice if Apple would just make things simpler for us in us giving the possibility to organize the files by hand, and give us a way to make the iTunes to update the library of files (or give us a way to specify things like artist or some way to force the system to keep a whole album rather divide.)

Obviously I would prefer simply to allow to place the files where we want to and just tell iTunes to update itself with the locations.

    Am I missing something obvious?

    12.4 iTunes

    MBP MacOS 10.11 (El Capitan)

iTunes is set up so that the user would not normally focus on the press kit at all.  Unless you have a reason to need to work with the media folder and then don't know how it's implemented. It is optimized for the use of iTunes.

You can organize the media by hand. Go to iTunes > Preferences > advanced and remove the check mark next to 'organize' and ' copy to '.  Add in the future all media to iTunes will use the original file everywhere where it is and, within limits, will follow a file if you drag it somewhere else (never to another drive).  Note This can have other disadvantages such as iTunes, refusing in the future automatically fix broken links.  Also if you download the iCloud elements or on the iTunes Store they still always automatically placed in the standard folder structure but you can remove them.  You will have to ensure that the music is organized and the files have names that make sense for you.  If accidentally, you drag a file into a directory of obscure and name 45hg%4p.mp3 iTunes uses there.  Moving from the library to another drive can also be more complicated in the future, especially if you end up with files outside the iTunes folder.

Editing the .xml has absolutely no effect on iTunes.  iTunes creates for other applications. iTunes uses the .itl file and only he can read.

I would recommend if you go to start to manage the media yourself, you need to learn how iTunes works really.  You are at the point where if you don't know the .xml and .itl but you start managing your media you are entering the scene of the advanced user.

On the iTunes library files - https://support.apple.com/HT201610 - does not mention that a complete library of work also includes other files and also files in the iTunes folder.

  • I need a free software for organizing files!

I just got my Fuze and I transferred some songs (drag and droped in Explorer) but when I tried to access it in the player he often told me that an artist was 'unknown' for a file, although many other files on the same album have been recognized. I know it is a problem of marking, but windows cannot change the tags. I tried windows media player, that will let me change that I can tell. I NEVER had this problem with my Creative Zen, he told me that these same files have been recognised and it came with the media programme could manage them easily. Unfortunately that only works for creative products, is no use to me here.

Also, I tried to use the system folder instead of the tags and I had another REALLY stupid problem. He let me to name the folders in Explorer, but when I access them on the "rocket" I get the names of corrupt files. Often they would retain the "new folder" name instead of what I named them, but also, I'm going to get a bunch of BINARY numbers in the name! Why?

I had this player for 2 hours and I'm already really frustrated.

Oh and yes I have updated the firmware already.

    [edit] Try to install rockbox, of course boredom. * beep * program does not even detect my player. Also, it looks like I can't return this thing; _ ;

    1.), you meet the 'names' problems and cannot install Rockbox because you're in MTP mode. I don't know exactly why, but this mode is a problem of renaming of files. Rockbox only works in MSC mode. I would recommend formatting the player (in settings > system settings)< format)="" which="" will="" erase="" everything="" on="" it="" (not="" firmware="" or="" operating="" files)="" so="" you="" can="" start="" over.="" switch="" the="" player="" to="" msc="" mode="" (don't="" use="" the="" auto="" defect="" setting),="" plug="" back="" into="" your="" computer="" and="" drag="" &="" drop="" away.="" your="" files="" will="" retain="" the="" same="" names,="" and="" you="" can="" install="" rockbox="" if="" you="" wish.="" although="" i="" would="" advise="" against="" this="" until="" you="" get="" a="" little="" more="" used="" to="" the="" player="" as="" it="" is.="" now="" you="" can="" also="" use="" the="" folder="" navigation="" in="" the="" music="" menu="" to="" find="" &="" play="" your="" files="" if="" you="" wish,="" or="" you="" can="" .="" .="">

2.) download & use MP3Tag to edit and correct your tags. It's simple and it's free. The default writing ID3v2.3 ISO-8859-1 and re - save files. Then transfer to your player. Now they don't appear under "Unknown" and you can browse through the lists of the player (populated by ID3 tag info) to find and play your music; no necessary Rockbox.

I would like to apply a more efficient to organize the display of files, a similar to the options available via EXCEL.  I want to sort the files of desktop Windows 7 by type AND update... looks like it would be a logical way to view the files.  Currently, I can do one or the other.  Sort by modified date provides a hodgepodge of file types, sort by type will not most recently changed... organize a hodgepodge of dates.  You wonder why I felt it necessary to ask this... seems to be a simple and logical option which would already be available.  Is it?  If so, how can we do this?

I don't know where you see all sort in excel. The file > open in excel procedure uses this same kind as provided by the Explorer (its Explorer discovers Documents)

The view in excel is obviously filtered to Excel docs.

  • Organizing files on the SSD and HDD

    Hello

According to me, there are answers to this, but I found them a bit too technical and advanced for my level of knowledge.

I have a 250 GB SSD and a 1 TB HARD drive and am looking for the best way to structure my work FCPX (the SSD is too small to store everything). The application is installed on the SSD, which I suppose is the best for performance. I recently discovered the properties of the library menu and set it to store media and backups on my HARD drive, but the Cache on my SSD. I don't really know if it's the best - any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

    Dave

The SSD is the system drive? In general, I put everything on the media player, external, fast drive. Minimum USB3.

  • iTunes says files in iCloud when the library is stored locally

I am a subscriber of Apple's music. Just upgraded to the latest iTune 12.4.1.6 on my PC Windows 10. This PC stores all my music files taken from the original CD. Just noticed that all my music now has icon cloud beside him and I get the option to download. Before clicking play a music file information would show the way to the file on my PC. He said now iCloud status: Apple music and location: iCloud.

That's happened? Why iTunes is no longer using the local files and try to play my music to iCloud?

Is this the 'normal' behavior now?

What happens if I unsubscribe from Apple's music in the future?

The original files are still in the directory Musique\iTunes\iTunes Media\Music.

show preferences iTunes library is in the same place, maintaining organized files and the files are copied to the media folder when adding to library.

Why are there not an easy way to sugest an idea to improve windows? I mean that the windows team could easily make a sorting software that sorts through thousands of ideas that would come by? Also is there an easy way to organize all the files on my computer without having to do each one by hand in windows Explorer?

    Hi Edie52,

1 you get an error message when tried to access the files?
    2. where did you move the files?

We recommend that you move the file from its current location to its original location and check if you can access the files. Also, check if you have the permissions to access the files at the current location.

Please provide us with more details on the issue, so that we can better help you.

  • Order of Images JPEG, in user defined command in a file in Windows - without re - name each image

I tried to use various application to create slideshows and burn DVDs, including Windows DVD Maker, Movie Maker, and more recently Cyberlink Power Director 13.  Each of them has its limitations and frustrations.  Windows DVD Maker for example you can promote or demote an image or a group of images to change the order of import but that one post at a time, you can't not do drag or cut and paste!  If you add a picture or pictures in the group it is always added at the bottom.

I want to create a slideshow with more than 200 JPEG images.

One things that would minimize the frustrations would be to be able to sort the images in a folder in Windows before importing them into one of the applications above... but without having to lose the format JPEG of each or image rename each image file individually.  Name change that many images individually will be very laborious.

Ideally, I just want to drag and drop images in the order you want, and then save the result - is perhaps auto renaming to ensure order.

Please tell me if possible, it is not an unusual thing to want to do!

    Andy

    Easy!

Select all your images that you rename otherwise. Decide on a global name (Say "Image" or something) and click Rename or right-click and click Rename. When you are prompted to name the files, type the name that you decided (in this case, 'Image') and the first JPEG 'Image' (be sure then that happens, you have all the files that you want to sort selected). When you rename a file, it renames the other like this:

    Image (1)

    Image (2)

    Image (3)

    ...

This will store the files in the order which makes them easier to access, without having to rename them all individually. The other options are to place the images in a folder (keep these organized files!), or on another drive (for example, a USB key)

    I hope this helps!

  • Thousands of PES files in the root folder of drive D?

I'm under PSE 13 on a Windows 7 system. I was shocked and horrified to discover, after use of PSE 13 days that the root folder of my D: drive where I have installed PSE13 has nearly SEVEN THOUSAND files! These are for the most part of the xml, bmp, jpg, psd, mp4 and .gif files. It is an absolute no no prospects of a good Windows file system management. Applications should NEVER store hundreds or thousands of files in the folder root of the drive, one. That is why the sous-sous-sous-dossiers/sous-sous-sous-repertoires.  Can you imagine the chaos if every application developer did it?

More surely there be a way to specify where these organizing files can be stored and place them in the folder of my hard disk where they are absolutely not?

    mxgordon wrote:

... Unless it started in PES 11 I had installed before the upgrade to 13, however, when 11 was installed, it's all on the C: drive. I pass the process of conversion of the catalogue of 11 to 13.

    The files usually have names like 'B0000000.pref', 'B0000002', 'B0000005.dat', B0000006.xml, 'B0003495.xml', 'B0003496.bmp', ' "B0006834."» "JPG", "B0006816.psd" and a huge 2 GB of files "Photoshop Temp2287141416368".

What you show, it is the content of a backup folder. It's a pretty common problem to find all the files in a folder root of a drive when the destination of the backup folder was not specified, the drive letter.

A backup folder contains files renamed image as "". B000000 ". "JPG", where the suffix is maintained. All the other files and subfolders are renamed in the original catalog file. More important still, the backup folder contains the two most important files, "catalog.buc"(a copy renamed your database "catalog.pse11db" and a "backup.tly" file that contains all the information to rename the files and store them in their structure of tree of file origin of the command of the "restoration" of the Organizer. Catalog backup file is usually created on an external EHD. The restoration process normally allows you to set the location of the main folder on the backup drive. Users don't often specify a folder to create for this purpose; I always recommend to create the backup folder before the restore process.

Your case is a little more complicated due to several factors:

-you have converted from version 11 to 13

    -you have installed an SSD

-you have installed software elements on D: which is something not 1% of typical users will do.

This and your answer shows that you and only you can find what you've done to get the contents of a backup in the root folder. The answer requires you to remember all of the previous steps, you have done to convert the backup and migrate to the D: drive.

What is not clear to me of your two different messages, is if the problem is to find files cumbersome and unnecessary in the root or folder if you have also problems with your catalogs and library of image files. If you have no problem to remove unwanted files from the root folder, you simply use Explorer to delete all files starting with "B00" over the catalog.buc and backup.tly file. Instead of delete, you can even move them to a newly created folder: this will create a valid backup folder.

Thanks in advance for your comments, they can be very useful for other users.

  • A few problems with the Satellite U920T-100

    Hi guys,.

my girlfriend ordered a Toshiba Satellite U920T-100 about three months ago and she had problems with it since. We're not quite sure what causes because they seem to happen randomly.

    The questions are:
-It starts, but it freezes at the Win8 connection with a blue screen (a rather hot blue, no blue screen of death)
-It starts not at all, only after a few attempts
    -It will not stop
-It freezes all by organizing files (for example copy of files from A to B, but not yet large amounts of files)

New: these questions seem to be completely appearing randomly, I wasn't able to reproduce them in any way.

Also: WLAN connectivity is really bad.
The laptop is not able to find networks, while my laptop has no problem with it.
And when he finds them and connect, the connection be lost - once again: no idea why.

That surprises me the most, because in tests and comments that I've read that connectivity has been praised everywhere.

    I have reset factory?
    Run through some specific tests?
Or is is hopeless, because there are so many problems with it?

    I'd appreciate your help!

    Hello

    > I should factory reset it?

I think you should do that because the issue described can be related to system problems, but also hardware problem (HARD drive for example). The resumption of the factory allows you to check if its software or hardware related problem.

Usually, all the problems of software (System) could be solved by the recovery process. Hardware problems would continue.

From my point of view, the recovery of the system is the first step, you should try to solve the problem.
In case this is not enough, a hardware problem (RAM or HARD disk) is possible, and given that the laptop is still under warranty, I recommend you contact the service to check the unit.

Hope my advice might help you a bit

  • problem of time machine Airport: finder does not

    Hello

I use a time capsule from the airport. The connection works fine.

However, I was doing a few files "organized" in the records of the airport and all of a sudden the finder would not respond. I tried to 'Force quit' the finder and start again or turn off 30 seconds time capsule, but the result is the same for a few days now. When I return to my main folder in capsule, automatically the finder is unresponsive and I have to restart the finder.

One of the reasons could be that when I was doing 'organized' files (like move one folder to another, etc.) he too complicated (large files) and then the thing all jammed.

Anyway, if you guys might have a solution for me, this would not lose all my files I appreciate.

Thank you very much for your time.

    All the best,

    Florent

PS: I'm using an Imac, Yosemite, version 10.10.03

Nothing will fix itself without some spoil your files... Something has stuck at halfway between the two and is now corrupted. Unfortunately, Finder can not work around the problem... If you did this correctly, you can use disk utility to solve the problem... but you cannot run disk on TC utility because it is a network drive.

You have three choices I see...

One that suits that I listed last.

1 make the cleaning of the Terminal file. It's hard I think because you do not know which files you were moving around in time. And work of the terminal is for real experts or you can do more damage than you started with.

    2. use a windows computer connected to the CT... that sounds crazy, I know, but you will not crash explore like you do finder. Fix up (remove all the files that are half way moved). If you have been for example copy of records. (travel is not a method Apple uses... so what do you mean by moving?)

Delete the moved folder... Make sure you have all the files elsewhere of course.

    3. There is a way around that could save...

In airport utility go to the disk tab and select archive.

You need to connect a Mac to format USB stick capacity equal or superior to all the files on the TC, including backup (tell me, you need not backup)... you can't be selective. And start archiving. Once you have it on a hard drive which you can then plug your computer... you can run the utility disk on it and fix the problems before opening finder... Once you have done this... Erase the zone folder on TC and copy it to the back of the USB drive repaired. This method may work best... it will cost you a USB... BTW, which is how you should have done this...

Now the rap on the fingers. You can stop reading now...

NEVER USE A NETWORK DRIVE TO YOUR HAND WITHOUT A BACKUP FOLDERS.

When you handle files... do you not understand that each file must be copied TC - computer - TC. If you do more wireless... corruption is inevitable.

All the key files should be on the local drive... A USB plugged into the computer is fine... but active faster the better... libraries and files will end by corrupted if you use files on a network resource and access more wireless... even on ethernet, it can not not... but more wireless, it's inevitable. Apple didn't build protection in the TC to work as a file server. You use software designed for local use.

Always save... If this happened and you had the worst backups that could happen is that you need to clear the TC and copy the files back.

Keep this and you will eliminate not only a few files but loads of them... maybe all.

A time Capsule is not designed for running your files of overload... Plug in a USB key or faster in particular the iMac is great hassle since you can use in powered car and hide behind the computer... The TC is for your TM backups. Dragging files to it... you have now no way back up since the TC cannot save itself and Time Machine backup network drives impossible.

    End rap.

  • iTunes library help

Hello everyone, I am looking for help with iTunes. I had a collection very messy library/music for a while and decided to launch a new library, hoping that this would solve my problems. First I organized files, albums, and artists in their respective places, then I created the new library (start iTunes with down option). I choose freshly organized music from the previous iTunes media folder and let the program work but much of my music had not been transferred. I trudged through the differences and tried to add these separately and it did not work, even if some of the missing artists/albums have not added that have everything. I'm doing something wrong? is there a better way? I tried the course letter-to-letter (beginning artists by) does not.
I use the latest version of iTunes with el capitan on a mac book pro end 2013. any help much appreciated.

Also, I found that I had create the library, wait adding / the transformation that will take place and then go back to my hard drive and open all files before they showed up in my list of artist. now, I'll have to drag the files on the app for them to add iTunes. I have the old files of the previous library in the file multimedia iTunes and now the folder iTunes1 with duplicates of some but not all. I know what you mean has he copies and I can remove the original library/itunes media files?
