• Why use Lightroom?

  My question should have an obvious answer to the veterans of Lightroom, but here I'm never eating and ask yourself why I would need/want in addition to Photoshop Lightroom.  I keep up to date on Photoshop and have since PS 4.  So what the heck am I missing?

  Three of the huge things and a host of minor ones.

  1 speed. You can work on the huge groups of images simultaneously. Often, most of the photos you take all need about the same settings. You can select all and do the same thing to each, with a single pass of a slider.

  2. very good management of your images. With appropriate keywording, you can find subsets of hundreds of photographs spread on several hard drives and lots of files in a few seconds. You can always find what you need and do it quickly.

  3. Non-destructive editing. Lightroom has never actually changes your image files. It maintains a list of changes made to apply them in its database. When you need an image for a design, LR it will create for you with your master image as a base and the recipe for change. You do what you want with the output file and then delete, because you can always create a new one.

  Most Lightroom users say what to do almost all of their editing in Lightroom and go to a 'pixel Editor"as PS for less than 10% of their images. For some changes, the PS is more appropriate, and LR allows you to send an image to Photoshop and bring back the results in Lightroom.

  A week ago I just changed 800 photos from my last vacation in Lightroom 5.2. After have exported them, I noticed that I don't check the quality parameters for export, so I tried to import the files of origin again.

  You don't re - import photos into Lightroom. There is no need to do it and it would only cause problems.

  For those photos that you can not import, you can just find them in the library Module and continue to use (if you want to export again in different settings, then you export from the existing photo in the library module)

  You install programs exactly in the same way you did the 1st time... Put your disc in the drive, and enter your serial number when asked

• I use Lightroom 6.5 and PS CS3 (version 10).  Working in Lightroom, the option Edit in Photoshop is grayed out.  I think that this can be linked to the recent move to Windows 10.

  What is happening since I started using photoshop CS6 standalone and lightroom with camera raw 9.3 6.3.

  When I look at updates in Photoshop, it shows no. The version of CR is certainly older than bright rooms.

  How this update. I thought that it would use the version running on the mac.

  Hi Dan,.

  The message you get is due to an "ACR Mismatch" between the 2 applications that you use.

  So when you receive the warning lag in Lightroom, simply use the option "Rendered using Lightroom". It uses the engine cab of Lightroom to make the file and then passes the Photoshop file for editing.

  The only real consequence of this is that the rendered (Tiff or PSD) file is created by Lightroom (and appears in Lightroom) before being transmitted to the PS for editing. If you edit and save in the PS, no difference for a LR6.3 > CS6 workflow, but if you leave the editing in PS, you're now left with a Tiff/PSD in LR which you probably do not want and therefore have to remove. Other than that, the workflow works very well.

  I can't open a project PP without this error message that appears:

  "The preset used by one or more sequences in this project requires third-party components that could not find. These sequences will be changed to use a custom sequence implementation. To continue editing using the preset original, exit the application without saving the project, reinstall all third-party components that are needed, and reopen the project'.»

  What I had been doing before that to happen was a PP project using sequences ProRes for editing and editing multicamera. Several cameras didn't work very well and after a few attempts of difficulty that I gave up and finished the work of cutting 3 layers of video instead. SOUL refused to make the finished three lasting more than 1 hr sequences so rendered video sequences PP. finals

  I tried to remove the plists for SOUL, PP and QT repair disk permissions and restarted, but there was no improvement.

  Customer is satisfied for now, but will want to return on this work to a later date so decided to uninstall and reinstall SOUL and PP in the hope that the two would be willing to work properly when needed again. SOUL works very well in conjunction with another PP project, but now I can't open the PP project in question without the above error message appears.

  After searching on the net, it seems that the problem may be caused by ProRes but I could not find a definitive solution to the problem. Does anyone know either:

  1. How do I solve this problem?

  2. If I chose the "modified by using a custom sequence parameter", can I be sure that my footage will look the same, even if they do not use ProRes? The final format of the deliverable will be mp4 so as long as the overall appearance does not change so I can afford a change in the edit codec. It's just that with three sequences of more than an hour long, I don't want working days to be ruined.

  Set up a new project PP.

  Import Final Cut Pro XML file.

  This will take you to the top race.

  Since getting back to this publishing project, I found that some things will be lost or change using XML:

  You will lose the position key framing, black video clips, dissolve fx, audio levels, dynamic audio fx, the possibility to open a multi camera clip and change the display of the camera.

  You keep the cut points, crop fx.

  Not perfect but only took a few hours to save 3 working days.

  If you are certain that you have the correct number of series, there are really not much that we can help you here. You can try to download and install the latest version of Lightroom 2. This will be the trial version, but when the trial screen there is an option to indicate that you have a serial number. Either way, Lightroom serial numbers start with the four first digits being 1160.

  I have creative photography of cloud, I use Lightroom 4.5 most of the time. When you edit photos two days ago 4.5 Lightroom crashed leaving me with no photos in the Collection, folders or anything. He continues to say yhat I have no pictures. What can I do to recover my thousands of photos and started using Lightroom CC 2015?

  To work properly, Lightroom needs three things:

  1. the program - Lightroom (you v4.5 and CC - both installed)?

  2. a file catalog (.) LRCAT)

  3. your original images. (If these are missing, you must restore backups)

  I suggest you open the Lightroom-CC program from creative application of Cloud, (OPEN the button appears after INSTALLATION)

  If LR - CC opens with no photos, go to Menu > file > catalog open (or press Ctrl + O)

  Find your file of catalog LR - 4.5 (the...) LRCAT) to open it.

  LR - CC will make a copy of the catalog file and convert the copy to work in LR - CC (LR can add "-2" at the end of the name)

  If it opens with your images everything is good - you use LR - CC with an updated catalog.

  Problems that may still occur.

  Your catalog LR4.5 is 'locked' due to a 'crash '. You must delete all files with the. LOCK the extension of the suffix, then try to open the catalog.

  Your LR4.5 catalog is corrupted. You will need to find and restore a previous backup of the catalog.

  Yes, but you will need to keep the catalog and the original image on the external hard drive.

  Catalog Lightroom stores information about what the pictures that you have imported into Lightroom and what changes did you on the images, tags, keywords etc.

  By default, the catalog is saved in the pictures folder of the computer inside the Lightroom folder.

  Today, I discovered that I have a serious problem when I tried to use Lightroom 5 to transfer my RAW images and their associates. WAV files on my memory card from Nikon D4s. I did a search online and found that a Canon user has this same problem:

  The part passing through the transfer of a message box appears on the screen saying: "some functions of import was performed. These files are not photos or videos,"followed by a list of all the. WAV files.

  I rely on these audio files to remind me of things I need to know for my column regarding the associated photos. Sometimes I even use these short audio files to record the sound effects.

  I use a Mac with the new OS of Yosemite.

  I like the fact that Lightroom does not destructive with regard to editing the addition of description and other metadata, as opposed to Nikon transfer which apparently make "destructive editing", but I use Nikon transfer 2 and, before that, the previous versions of this program for years. I've never had a problem with corrupted due to the process of transferring pictures. There is a drawback to me Lightroom 5.

  Certainly, many, if not most, people at Adobe using Canon and Nikon DSLR cameras, so why they would allow such a serious flaw in Lightroom 5?

  Am I missing a step which will eliminate this problem or there at - it a solution for this?

  The problem is that my workflow, I have to see that there is an audio file that I quickly browse the photos at the bottom of the screen 5 Lightroom.

  Unfortunately, it is not integrated into LR sort that allows you to do - the metadata Panel is the only place where you will see if there is an associated WAV file.  However, you can use the Data Explorer plugins or no matter what filter quickly filter photos do or don't have WAV files.

• Where are the options "Edit Original" or "edit a copy"?

  I use the latest version of Lightroom (5.7.1) and if I select "Edit In" and choose Photoshop, I no longer seem to be able to select "Edit a copy" or "Edit Original", which I use to have.

  Now, if I select "Edit In" and then "Edit in Photoshop CC 2014", the image is automatically updated in Photoshop Lightroom by applying adjustments. Was this a new feature in recent versions of LR or I still have the ability to change a copy in Photoshop? If the option is still available, how to reset change option that I can manually choose one of three options?

  When Lightroom and Photoshop are synchronized as long as the versions are concerned, and you work with raw images, these choices don't appear. However, I think you will find if you choose a non - raw image as JPEG or TIF you have made adjustments to then the choice will be presented.

• How to use LightRoom with elements of Prime Minister?

  I learned recently from LightRoom 5 and quite comfortable with it. I'm now working on the film editing, starting with Prime Minister 11 elements. I'm just starting to go through it and I see that it fits in an organizer that looks German to the Group of items. Problem is that I am already using LR for the organization. Am a little confused.

  Can anyone suggest how to collaborate with LR and elements of Prime Minister?

  A secondary issue has to do with the management of audio files. I see that the elements Organizer includes also audio files. But LR does not work. So far I've managed audio with Windows Media Player. Can anyone offer suggestions for moving forward with audio management?

  I use Lightroom 5.2 and Prime Minister 11 elements on a laptop to the PC i7 optimized video fast with a lot of memory.  There's even a Blu - Ray burner!

  My files photo and video are first copied and stored by the camera and the date.  Then, I use LR to organize and preview, review and select photos and clips.  IMO, the ability of a snippet clip of LR is very good.  LR will allow you to make a few simple changes to clips but I use for video, only of the photos.  My photos will be a mixture of JPG and RAW and I will tune them with LR.  Some of the pictures can get some additional masking or HDR work elsewhere and then brought back in LR.

  As I saw the clips as well as photos, I want to use I put them in a collection of LR.  Then I prepare a specific folder of the project on my SSD named something like "holiday".   If it's a big project, I'll do a few subfolders such as city names.

  The big step is to 'Export' of copies of all of the goods that I have chosen for the collection.  I open the collection and select everything in it.  Right-click, choose Export, set the destination, rename them if you want, select "include the video", select "Original" video format, select PSD for images and press the export button.

  

  The reason for the 'Original' video is because I don't want any additional compression or conversion of video clips.  I want elements of Prime Minister to do so.  The reason for "PSD", is I want my photos always LR settings appear before putting them in the project.

  Then I opened a new project of pre.  Before adding any of the assets, make sure that the "scratch disks" is assigned to the project folder.

  

  With the game of "scratch disks", I then load assets.  One of the primary video clips making sure is the first to be placed on the timeline, as that adjusts the "project settings" if necessary.  Then I begin to build the video with the security of knowing that I work only on a set of copies of image and clip.

  My audio file management is made entirely in the way old-fashioned in Windows Explorer.  I have a folder of audio and a system of folders and descriptive file names.  I can preview them in Windows Explorer before you import a copy into a project folder.  Clip length and volume settings are made to copy it in pre.  I often buy an audio clip of $2 Vimeo specific for the project because I like having a license to use the music!

  When I finished, I move the folder of the project somewhere for long term storage.

  I am a photographer and graphic designer. I need lightroom and other adobe products, so I don't have a problem paying the monthly subscription price. However, my girlfriend didn't NEED to have all of the adobe products and the monthly price that goes with. She just wants a little more power in editing his photos, which is just a hobby for her, with software that is a notch above the user type level free software out there that allows only click on a filter to change the appearance of the photos. Non-professional have an in-expensive option (not monthly) to use lightroom or a lighter version of it?
