OS boot manager

Hi all

I got this HP Pavilion Notebook 15 - p091sa screen touch but provided with windows 8.1 unfortunately. I felt forced to format the hard drive and do a clean install of stable reliable Windows 7 64 bit.  After the removal of their main partition, I created 2 separate primary parititions for my own reasons and went on installing windows 7 on the smallest below to 196 gb primary partition.

However now when I restart my PC an OS boot menu will apear where I choose to start with Windows 7 or 8.1 Win - even after I formatted and installed clean Windows 7.  I want to get rid of this start menu, so it just automatically start with Windows 7 - my logic tells me maybe it is HP factory recovery shot of one of the other OEM or the partitions of WinRE boot menu that evokes this OS. Should I delete one of these partitions to get rid of the operating system boot menu?

If anyone knows?

Walter thank you

Hello

Unfortunately, I can't see the image you downloaded.

However, a possibility for the problem you describe is that the boot for Windows 8.1 entry is present in the efi partition - you can check this as follows.

Hold down the Windows key and press R

In executing windows type msconfig, hit enter, and then select the Startup tab - if you see a redundant entry for Windows 8.1 click here, to highlight, then select Remove.  Click apply and then click Ok to save the change.

Kind regards

DP - K

When you use a wireless keyboard, you have to wait until after hearing of the Mac startup sound, then press on and hold the option key.

If you hold down option from the start key, the Mac will not see depression key because the function Bluetooth does not become active until after the initialization of the Mac hardware.

    Hello

It would be interesting now what model phone you have and what OS you are using.

Normally, if you get Toshiba Recovery disk, you must start on the first disc and the installation, you need to insert the second disk.
Alternative try a disc of Microsoft. Maybe you recovery disk is noisy and so it can t be read correctly.

  • Qosmio G35-AV650: how remove Vista Boot Manager and install XP

OK, I got the g35-av650 - US. I don't see any good American forum Toshiba, so I post here.
First of all, I must say I'm getting very frustrated.

1: I upgraded my BIOS to try to install windows vista. Vista installed, however, it works well. It must be driver problems. I deleted the partition that I allocated for Vista. Now, how the hell do I remove the screen/start menu in vista.
I want to get back my XP operating system selection screen.
I think it has to do with the boot record.

2: my bluetooth isn't all work more (don't ask me why...) After that I updated the BIOS to version 1.40 to the newest 3.30.

The recovery CD said I use the CD in the computer wrong? Is it possible to downgrade the BIOS/solve this problem, or bypass it.

Thanks for the responses, because they will be very appreciated.

    Hello

(1.) you want to reinstall XP on the HARD drive or you want to cancel only the vista Boot Manager.
Usually after reinstalling XP, the boot manager should disappear.

But I found these tips step by step in the internet:

-Start your computer in Windows XP.
-Make sure you have the image of Vista DVD emulated or in the DVD drive.
-Go to start and run. Type in e:\boot\bootsect.exe/nt52 ALL/force (without the quotation marks and replace e: with the letter of your Vista DVD).
-Restart the computer, and you notice that the selection of start menu disappeared.
-Format the partition/drive where you installed Vista.
-Remove the two (Boot.BAK and Bootsect.BAK) files on your file of root of drives XP (c), it was backup of your previous boot loader files, now is more useful.
-Optional: Restart to make sure it still works.
-Use your partition software to merge your partitions.

2.), I hope that you have used the BIOS from the page we Toshiba. However, the BIOS update should not has a bad influence on the functionality of BT. Try to download the latest driver for BT and install again.

There is no problem at all except that initially to laptop, I get this [http://tinypic.com/r/se7uja/6].

3 Win 7 entries in the Boot Manager

I always choose the first and all is well.
It's like the old copy of win does not delete but one that I formatted disks...

Y at - it an option to get rid of him?
I don't mind reinstalling again if I know it will help.

    Hello

I seems that Boot Manager Windows 7 contains three entries and the other two entries are useless.

I think you can remove the last two entries in the Boot Manager.
    How to do this?
Well, I m using the EasyBCD software.
It is a free tool and you can easily manage this settings.

    After installation, start the tool.
In EasyBCD toolbar, you can check the option called Add/Remove entries.
Well, I think that here you should be able to remove the last two entries.

When I try to recover from the DVD the recovery process got stuck on the first dvd so I had to reboot and try again, but the same thing happened to it.

If so, what are the steps to qualify for this promotion?

I said that I am a Romanian citizen and I have already implemented for promotion in the specified time interval.

It seems that the first recovery disk is not created properly because you got an error message.
As I understand your message, you have tried to boot from the first recovery disc (which was not correctly created in the past) and so the installation could not be completed successfully.

Now, you cannot start the operating system, because the Boot Manager is missing and possibly the system is deleted also
I see just one solution: order the new disk recovery from here and use it for the installation of the OS: http://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

  • Pavilion 500 - 206t: Boot Manager does not appear in the sources of boot UEFI

I had a working system, until I installed Fedora on it...

I have since removed Fedora, but cannot get the windows partition to start for the life of me.

In the bios, I don't see "Microsoft boot manager" in the list of Sources of boot UEFI in the boot order.

I have the original, untouched windows 7 x 64 partition, the HP recovery partition and 10 windows partition, I recently did a clean install, but still no start.

I've deleted and recreated a 100 MB EFI partiton and a partion of 128 MB msr by using diskpart.

formatted fat32 EFI, left the msr as-is.

C:\Windows\Boot\EFI\ files on the EFI partition in \EFI\Windows\Boot

Creates the via bcdedit boot manager entries.

    I tried:

    1. Bootrec /fixboot
    2. Bootrec /fixmbr
    3. Bootrec /rebuildbcd

I also used boot bcd with uefi function to copy the files on

I used an installation disc USB win10 to the foregoing as a win7 disc does not have the USB drivers for the keyboard and the mouse.

Am I missing something for the HP Pavilion?

    Thanks in advance

    Repair of windows did nothing.

I created a ultimatebootcd USB drive (http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/) and used parted Magic/clonezilla in order to image the old windows and partitions of hp recovery (not the entire disk) to a USB external HDD (plugged into USB 2.0 port)

Then I deleted all partitions with parted magc.

Install win 7 on the system with no partitions, it's easier to reduce windows on partition of 100 MB, but you can adjust it later, also don't you bother with the product key, ignore her.

Restart the ultimate boot CD, choose parted Magic then Partition editor and create an important partition for windows = or superior to what it was when he was photographed. If your new installation of win 7 took the entire disk, simply to reduce the size of the partition and create the large partition to restore to, don't forget the restoration of 15 GB HP as well. If you don't see all the partitions or get an error in the score editor, see this link: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1619381

don't worry about formatting new partitions.

To restore, you will need to rename the image files on the external hard disk created in the second paragraph above. The partition names will be changed, see this link: http://drbl.org/faq/fine-print.php?path=./2_System/102_restore_image_to_different_partition.faq#102_restore_image_to_different_partition.faq

After the restoration, start windows installation disk and repair, it will be your old windows partition, restored. Save and reboot the old partition. If everything is successful, you can delete the newly installed partition win 7 and use msconfig in windows to delete startup entries. You can use parted magic to cultivate the restored partition, if you wish.

Then, install windows 10 to get a true EFI boot.

  • HP ENVY AE101NX: How to default BIOS Options of OS to SSD Boot Manager

    Hi all

I added new SSD in my laptop and also migrated OS from the HARD drive to the SSD.

I have checked and tested F9 I'm able to start properly in this new SSD with incredible speed and no problem.

Now, I wanted to put this SSD as a default value in the boot options where currently it is showing the HDD and SSd. But this submenu of the OS boot manager does not allow me to change the sequence.

It shows both and by default it is starting HARD operating system disk, unless I manually interrupt using the Esc and F9.

From now the HDD and SSD are available in my laptop with OS.

Could someone please suggest How can I do this SSD as boot by default?

    Thank you

    Vandenplas

Thank you all for your comments.

I have fixed this issue of cleanup/formatting my drive HARD SSD is ready with full operating system installation.

Here are the steps that I followed before posting this question here and after this announcement.

    (1) the SSD inserted in one of the port SATA m2 available in my laptop.

    (2) using the EaseUS backup and recovery tool, I've migrated my windows 10 BONES of the HDD to the SSD.

    (3) using the BIOS options (Esc + F9) I did so that I am able to start my SSD system without HARD drive. This is where I posted here, the question on how to remove the HARD drive in the list and the default at startup SSD.

    (4) removed the laptop HARD drive and ensured that I am able to start properly the SSD HARD drive function.

    (5) fixing the HARD drive using an adapter (USB 3.0) external HARD disk for laptop and same formatted. Also deleted all partitions.

    (6) then inserted the HDD clean even in my laptop with existing SSD.

    (7) now I'm able to boot directly into the SSD as there is no bootable/EFI OS available on the HARD disk.

Now, it's showing only 1 option even if I go to BIOS Esc + F9.

    My problem is solved.

    Thank you

Several times using a Windows 7 installation dvd solves these problems. Until a couple of months, you can download an ISO to make a Windows 7 disc and I often recommemded that as a solution. Unfortunately deleted Microsoft Access to those files unless you have a retail license key. I don't know of any other place to download an iso without danger, so the only solution is to buy Windows 7 If you do not have a friend with a disk to use for the installation which you would activate using license key OEM on the label attached to the bottom of your laptop.

    Hello!

Have you tried with the disk recovery Toshiba or a disk of Microsoft?
If you want to reinstall Vista with Microsoft disc, you need SATA drivers.

I m do not know what is the problem, but in your case, I would like to format the HARD drive. You can do this with the Microsoft disk or with special tools like the Drive Fitness Test (http://www.hitachigst.com/hdd/support/download.htm#DFT).

Delete all partitions and then do a low level format. Then try again to install Windows.

Give me a reason why this has happened.
