OT: CSS Mixins (Bootstrap)

I was wondering if someone could tell me 1) how important mixins are, and 2) if there are ways to work with them outside of SASS.

I spent the last few hours trying to get this stuff in place. I'm on a Mac running OSX Yosemite. You cannot install SASS until you have installed Ruby, that you can not install without having to install "command line tools." But you can not work with Ruby without installing Rails.

I have installed two or three other software until I found myself at SASS - only to find out that it apparently does not work.

So I was just wondering if mixins are worth it, and if yes, is the only SASS vehicle to access? I don't understand even exactly how they work without being able to create a working model, but they look good.

the importance of mixins

Mixins allow document authors define value property pairs templates, which can then be reused in other rule sets. The name of the mixin is a class selector that identifies the mixin to be declared. Here is an example of a mixin:

@mixin border-radius ($radius) {}

-webkit-border-radius: $radius;

-moz-border-radius: $radius;

-ms-border-radius: $radius;

border-radius: $radius;

}

This can then be used in a LOWER / SASS document as

. Box {@include border-radius (10px) ;}

As you can see, it reduces the amount of work, in the example above, when I want to apply a RADIUS to several different classes. Best of all, the mixin can be used in all my projects without any tweak.

Mixins are used in many languages such as Coldfusion, Python, Curl and Ruby OBJECT oriented programming. But also object oriented CSS (OOCSS) such as Sass, or less, can make good use of mixins.

Bootstrap CSS is written Foundation CSS is written in Sass. If you want to get the most out of each frame, you do this by using the source code. The good side is that less / Sass understand good old fashioned CSS. This allows to get used to the precompiled versions of CSS without losing valuable time for learning. Little by little, you can start using the real features.

1. you can wrap autour html comment tags the parts you don't want not shown or add display: none to the css of #id parts {display: none ;} or .class {display: none;}.} To give you something more specific, we need see your code in our browsers and get a better explanation of what you want to hide exactly.

2. use Chrome or Firefox right-click > inspect element to see what selectors and where they are in your css files, control the styles for a given element. Then create overrides in a separate linked after the bootstrap css css file in yoursection.

3. search 'Modal Windows in bootstrap' for info on that. There should be a little info and tutorials out there on how to do it.

We have changed our parameters of carousel-legends CSS "bootstrap" to take account of the larger type, successfully darkest shadows, etc., but can't find how to add the "circular progress buttons" that show the relative to the slide number (or get rid of the buttons in total). Help, please.

Bootstrap responsive.css necessary or unnecessary?

According to GetBootstrap.com, (http://getbootstrap.com/2.3.2/scaffolding.html) to make a sensitive project, you must add another .css file, bootstrap - responsive.css. But I've seen many models that do not have this .css file associated with the project. Does anyone know what is true? I don't want the project to meet.
And if it is necessary, how do you get? Do not see it as a separate part of the Bootstrap download in bootstrap.css.

problems with the titles of sensitive bootstrap css pages

Hello
To get a little more familiar with the concept of reagent and "bootstrap", I downloaded a boot-gen-4 data model. This comes with a lot of explanation, that is not the issue. My problem is that it seems as if I should add the title (my company) on each page I do. I thought that would be a set time in css (custom.css or bootstrap.css or...)
No matter what I try I can't get my title is displayed on each site. Maybe I should strip the model of all the example pages, I know not (the only place to add your title (company name) seems to be in the index.html file.
I have to admit that I'm not a css and still less specialist "bootstrap" etc., so maybe someone can give me some info that helps me understand a little better.
And if this all sounds a little vague, let me know, I could send code or whatever is needed...

I create landing pages in Dreamweaver and now try to import in Eloqua. I encountered several issues which I want to share, and I hope that people can jump on the bandwagon of the error and help me with some of them.
First of all I do not know what option chosen:
Assets - Landing Pages - download one LP - download Landing page
Active - Landing Pages - download an LP - download model
Take into consideration that my (sensitive design) consists of the following files
- CSS
- fonts-awesome
- fonts
- IMG
- JS
-index.html
When I insert it in both options (download a landing page), my design gets ruined and I get lots of errors. I downloaded them as a zip in a retry file, I just slipped and dropped the file with all the files mentioned above in the drag-cloud.
Only a few images and files are imported, so the LP does not work properly.
Is it because the way I'm trying to import does not work or I should handle this approach differently?

What error do you get?

Please note that you cannot import a js file and bootstrap via a CDN (content delivery network) in eloqua to use access to download them the library after that you can access.

Font files are not supported by eloqua, so you cannot download the on eloqua library.

How to create landing page w / many files related (I have ~ 60 requests for CSS, JS, Images, video, etc.)

In any case, after downloading the HTML page, I have to go in the bin of the component library files and download each asset, then get the real URL (for example, http://domain.com/Web/landing/%7B7cb4efcc-8ff9-4b54-9add-5f07d783930b%7D_video-thumbnail-1.png)and paste it into the editor of Eloqua. I do it about 60 times for all files that requires this homepage and I was wondering if there is anyway to make a transfer to batch of these types of files?
I know that after the landing page HTML upload it is an option "Treat files" (see table), but never, I got 20 percent of the files even listed there so I skip this option and "Do nothing" every time because it is easier to track and get the URL of the component library file. There may be a way for me just to solve this problem? Let me know, thanks!

Bootstrap, existing and Dreamweaver templates

I'm new to the Bootstrap and I was wondering of several questions.
First of all, I bought a Web sites entirely sensitive Bootstrap templates / themes (one being a model built on frame 3 Bootstrap html5 versatile). From what I read, it is best to create a CSS custom for all modifications of the existing model. What a best practice in Dreamweaver, copy and paste the main CSS to Bootstrap into a custom CSS file and make changes via the CSS panel on the right?
Second, how I integrate Bootstraptor blocks to a model that I use (Starter Bootstrap model KIT: Twitter Bootstrap models free and Starter Bootstrap premium KIT Bootstrap v. 3.0), in Dreamweaver CS3. Do I have to use all the resources of support for a block of bootstrap?
There is no instructions on the actual use!

Attempt to modify files results lag while typing. This shift is sometimes greater than 10 seconds.
remove the bootstrap.min.css allows changes to work as would be expected.
We combine the PHP code, and simple works as...

Many of our files cannot be changed with CC (due to performance).
Changes to the same files with CS5, CS5.5 work very well.

We are aware of this discrepancy in DW with bootstrap & other CSS frameworks and are working actively on a fix.

I would say commenting on the bootstrap CSS for now, as jsem1101 has proposed up to that deploy us the patch.

I just started working with MAF and then wonder how MAF support devices screen mobile application?
I found that we can customize "icon of application" for the different screen resolution for Android and iOS applications. But how about if I want to have 2 different layout for different screen/devices (such as phone and Tablet).
Am I right to say MAF leave developer managing several screen via CSS and bootstrap as mobile web approach?

Hello.

There are several ways to handle this.

1. you can try to build a complex adaptive and responsive presentation in HTML and JavaScript yourself. You will need to test on a variety of devices for Oracle cannot, of course, that test for you.

2. you can create two separate AMX features: one for phones, the other for tablets. You can define constraints on functions to ensure that the correct path is selected when running. These constraints can check the following:
- Available height
- Available width
- Diagonal size
- DPI
- Height
- Scale factor
- Width
3. you can use taskflows in your AMX features and look for the values mentioned above in a router activity, for example. Then, you redirect to AMX pages designed for the appropriate form factor.

Personally, I would choose #2 or #3. The productivity of the AMX components compensates for more effort to build things twice.

The public WorkBetter of the MAF sample uses the #3 strategy; You can take a look in the organizations.xml workflow for an example.

Start Dreamweaver problem.

This is my first problem with Dreamweaver CC. And I'm having a weird time, trying to fix it I'm under 10 64-bit 8 Gig Ram Intel Windows computer 5th generation i7 CPU with Intel HD 5500 GPU. Now, I'm studying WebDesign ('novice') and I created a blank Bootstrap at my campus local TAFE. (This is the equivalent of the American Community College) And I does no problem but.
I did a quick pattern in Photoshop CC and I manually copied the CSS in Dreamweaver, but when I moved it through port USB of my laptop to continue working on it every time I try to add Bootstrap components this box appears.
And I'm confused because Dreamweaver and Photoshop are perfectly up-to-date on my laptop and computers of TAFE. So I don't know how to solve this problem. Any help will be great thank you.

CSS produced by Photoshop is very different from the CSS created by Bootstrap. If you want to use the Bootstrap framework for your development, then you must use the CSS of Bootstrap file. If you do not want to use the CSS of Bootstrap file, then forget to Bootstrap.

Put links to th ecode scripts automatically

I did on the website "bootstrap", with a standard boilerplate "bootstrap". But in the same site, I did a few pages made with the extension bootsrap DMXzone (I left because Dreamweaver became very slow).
But now I have a problem. I use a template with all the menus, links to bootstrap.css, jquery.js and bootstrap.css and some other external links. But when I open one of my pages, Dreamweaver inserts these links script again, and sometimes it's links to DMXZone scriptlibrary scripts. (lines are below inserted are in red)
Is - this Dreamwear updated pages with links to scripts, because it cannot be in the code because, the links are part og the model? Or is it the name extension from DMXzone who do it in the background?

TNX for your reply which I can use as a template... Well, the problem was that many additional lines was inserted in form of lines exstra whenever I saved the file. The other answer in this thread gave the solution to avoid this auto - insertion.

How do I change H2 police in flow layout

I use a layout fluid and in the design of the page (there is only one), I noticed that I have several CSS stylesheets in force already.
NOW - I want to change the font on the page that was placed there when I did the Bootstrap in H2 > add container.
H2 is mentioned in
boilerplate. CSS,
bootstrap. CSS (several locations),
Now, if I highlight the text covered by H2 on the page, go to properties > CSS > Edit Rule > indicates it is in the BOOTSTRAP. CSS.
I change the font and it applies, OK-, HOWEVER OK it comes up with the message:
An unexpected error occurred trying to read information from the style sheet.
When I close my DW and reopen it comes back.
Any advice would be welcome.

For several reasons, I have my advice is do not touch (change) the default files that come with Bootstrap or any other framework. What I would do is create and attach a file called myStyles.css or similar and make the changes there.

To ensure that the newly created style sheet is loaded after the default style sheets so that any entry in the new style sheet replace the previous style sheets.
