OT - searching for words in an Internet shortcut
Anyone know of a Windows utility that can search for a word or a word string in a folder full of shortcuts with mult-Word names?
I don't have the URL target, just the name
I use a renaming utility, but it will not look for shortcuts.
What is the problem with Windows Explorer (File Manager)? It can search your office assuming all your shortcuts are on the desktop. See this picture:

How to search for words and phrases in multiple pdf documents
Dear Sirs.
I need to search for words AND phrases in a huge amount of PDF files (over 5000). The problem I found by using the "advanced search" is that I am able to search for single words sentences individual GOLD, but I need to combine a lot of words and multiple expressions in the same search. For example, if I need to look for instances of the word 'Florida' or 'Texas' or 'United States', I can't search for each PDF file that contains the word 'Florida' or 'Texas' or the phrase 'United States', since if I put 'word' in the search options, I will receive all the files that contain the word "Florida" or 'Texas' but also 'solidarity' or 'States' and simple words. I tried placing quotes in the words I need to research such as phrases, but it did not work. I would like to know if there is a way I can search the way I need.
Thanks in advance.

How to activate the search function. I get no match found when I search for words on the scanned PDF document
A scanned document is just an image; even if it contains text, it is not searchable.
Put text in a scanned image available, you will need to perform the recognition of text (OCR), which can be made with Acrobat, but not the free player.

When I go to the start page, after clicking on the icon for Mozilla Firefox, if I type in the box and press 'Search', it does nothing. I have to go to the top of the address bar to search for anything. This isn't like Google, where I can type a few words, for example, CBS (the station news and hit search and get results). Any ideas?
Hello mdchlanda, first of all, please see install research reset addon can solve the problem: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/searchreset/ (a restart of the browser is needed later).
If not, try the following steps to manually restore the search function on the default home page:
- Go to firefox > help > troubleshooting information and click file/show profile folder. a windows Explorer window should open - to delete the file named chromeappsstore.sqlite.
- then enter Subject: config in the bar firefox address (confirm the message information where it appears) & get preference named browser.startup.homepage_override.mstone - right click and restore the default value for that entry.
- Restart firefox

Hello
SR - IOV allows to create virtual functions on Ethernet or FC HBA card,
If new virtual ports can be created and assigned to logical domains with Oracle LMOS.
Documentation Oracle talk SR - IOV, IE:
http://docs.Oracle.com/CD/E38405_01/HTML/E38406/sriovoverview.html
but in may other scenarios (bugs, mos docs, patches) can be read SRIOV
So, there is a huge difference in MOS looking with the word "SR - IOV" (with hyphen) against the word "SRIOV" (without hyphen)
Q. is possible to set this specific word (SR - IOV / SRIOV) search engine MOS
so when you search for this word SR - IOV or SRIOV, he would do an effective search for SR - IOV and SRIOV?
Thanks in advance,
Miguel Angel
Hello Miguel.
Yes, it is possible. We will grant so that when your search query contains sr - iov or sriov, it will do an effective search on both.
Thank you

search for words in pdf in the iPad 2. No context.
When you search for a word in a pdf document, in android, I get a list of all instances of the word in its context. However, with the ipad2, I get only arrows to look through all instances in the text which is worse than getting the list with the context. Is there a way to solve this problem in the iPad 2. Thank you.
Apparently, there is no setting in the app that would show the context as well. You can post your comments here, so that our engineering team can look into it: feature request/Bug Report Form

Why is the search for words in my search rather bar if G for google image search?
In the upper right corner where I type for the elements, the word search is there instead of the symbol "G" for google. He used to have a blue "G" for google. Why is this and how can I change it?
34 Firefox got a new scheme of the search bar. Does not display the icon search engine.
You can return to the former regime of the search bar fairly easily, if that's what you prefer.
Open Subject: config (typed in the address bar)
Do a right click and toggle this false preferencebrowser.search.showOneOffButtons
Then restart Firefox.

To my school work, type the words into the empty spaces to practice typing and spelling correctly. When we submit every page, the system ranks for us. The words are there on the page. I did this on Firefox since March, but I got a new computer for a few days now. I don't know if it's a Firefox, Windows or computer problem. When I start typing a few words into the empty spaces, all of a sudden a small window appears, with a word in it, as if to show me what it should be. Are the words that I was seized in this school work, but they are not what I want and I don't want this feature. It is annoying and does help me to learn the words. (for example, I typed 'v' at the beginning of "viscous" and was offered "visceral".) I typed 't' of tachypnea, was offered 'superior', 'triamcinolone' and 'cones '. When I continued, 'your', I was offered 'parietal '! "These are all words, I typed in my curriculum in the last day or two). It started just happening tonight. Where it comes from and how can I make it disappear?

I could even find in the websites in this way, say by typing France wiki and need me the Wikipedia for the France page, even though I had never been there. (Or sometimes, if I did a search with the term wiki, it would take me to a wiki dedicated to this subject, even though I had never been to this site before.)
I really do not understand how this feature works, but can I turn it on for firefox 4?
The change between Firefox 3.6. * and Firefox 4 is how the location bar search. In Firefox 3.6, it uses Google search "search by name". With innovation by the name search, it performs a search on Google and if there is a clear match he will take you on the site, otherwise, it shows the Google search result. With Firefox 4 it performs just a search on Google, if you type in something that is not recognized as a URL.
To get the behavior of Firefox 3.6 on Firefox 4, you must change a hidden preference.
- Type of topic: config in the address bar and press on enter
- Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
- Locate the preference keyword. URL, double-click it and change its value on the link below
http://www.Google.com/search?ie=UTF-8 & oe = UTF - 8 & SourceId = navclient & gfns = 1 & q =
If you prefer, you can also do this by installing traverse it by extension - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/browse-by-name

Search for words in the resource files?
Hi all
I have about 5000 text files in my resources.
What is the best/best way to look for a specific job in these files?
The files are about 2K each.
Thank you.
In fact I still misread the question, then please ignore my previous posts...
I agree with your solution, and since you efficiently load these files from the memory, the charging process should be fast enough, only the research process which will take time. And this is true for any solution.
Another option is to put the files in a SQL database, and then use SQL facilities to perform the research. I tested the performance of this in comparison with a storage research and it's much slower, but much easier to change. Then just a thought.

Can I search for a word in the description of a bookmark?
When I add a bookmark, I often add a description.
Another reason why a lot of my favorites are the descriptions is that I am an old user of delicious and I imported these bookmarks in Firefox.
So I would like to search for words that I wrote in the description, because the description is often more significant than the label, the name or the URL.
But unfortunately Firefox does not resemble the description during the search in bookmarks.
Nor find any extension.A backup of bookmarks HTML includes descriptions, so you could open such a backup in a tab and use the search bar to search the page.
You can make Firefox create an automatic HTML (bookmarks.html) backup when you exit Firefox, if you set the pref to true on the subject browser.bookmarks.autoExportHTML: config page.
This backup is created by default in the profile as bookmarks.html folder whenever you close Firefox, but you can set the file name and the path through the pref browser.bookmarks.file on the topic: config page.
The pref browser.bookmarks.file does not exist by default and you must create a new pref to string with the name browser.bookmarks.file and set the value to the full path of the file backup bookmarks including the name of the file.

Search for combining diacritical characters in Unicode
Unicode allows to put accents different characters using diacritical signs. I'm learning Russian, and put accents on words makes a big difference. I use Alt-0769 (301 to hexacimal) to put in the combination acute accent marks, and I put these accents on any character. My problem is that I can't find any way to make Windows Search deal with these characters. In Unicode, a typical accented vowel will be represented by two Unicode characters. I need a way to get these characters in the search string. If I try to use Alt + 0769, the search box is a hollow box, but am not actually for her. Microsoft has a way to include Unicode characters less commonly used in search strings? Anyone found a way to search for words containing combining diacritics?
