Other Plugins of Oracle Designer

Good day to all,

I am new to the designer and have in fact opted to use this tool for application development. My major concern is that I also became so used to other java EE IDE like eclipse and Netbeans (Netbeans in particular). So my question is that how I can use designer with these other IDE since all the tutorials I have talked only about JDeveloper.

This same issue also applies to Oracle BI beans. I don't want to post the same question on the other thread, so if anyone knows about both cases, you could enlighten me please on this issue.

Kind regards.

I'm sorry to tell you that with the designer, what you see is what you get. You can inform your favorite for text and HTML editors, designer and you could probably say to use Netbeans as editor, but might not be able to give you a lot of benefits. I especially do not use an external editor with the Designer - the built-in editors are pretty good for what little editing I do with the designer. Designer also generates an environment Java or JEE, unless you want to write the generator yourself.

In regards to JDeveloper, Designer really don't speak for JDeveloper either. However, there was once a JDeveloper extension that could read the repository Designer and use it to generate business components ADF for modules you designed with Designer - they could be the modules of Oracle Forms, Oracle reports, Visual Basic or Web PL/SQL. I know that this has worked with JDeveloper 10.1.2, but I don't know if the extension has been updated to work with JDeveloper 10.1.3. I don't know if it is planned to update it for JDeveloper 11 either. I hope - I still have a lot of things in my deposit.

If you are ready to move to JDeveloper, you might want to watch JHeadstart, I can get more out of the repository Designer as a JDeveloper extension can. Anyone confirm?

At this point, you can ask yourself, "Gee, then why would I use Oracle Designer?" You might want to consider using the designer for the design of database logic (E/R diagrams) and the physical level (server model diagrams) and place you in your IDE preferred after you build and run your DDL. If you model only databases on a physical level, you can watch in JDeveloper diagramming tools - they are very good. Oracle also adds tools for modeling and diagramming in SQL Developer, then you want to keep that in the back of your mind for any future reference.

  • Operating systems certified for use with Oracle Designer repository

    Hi all

We have Oracle Designer repository version 10g (9.0.4.3.14) installed on Microsoft Windows 2000. As our team OS and network will migrate the Windows 2000 operating system to Windows 2003, I want to know if Windows 2003 is certified for our designer version or not.

    Thanks in advance.

  • How to prevent Flash blocks instantly (occurs even if I'm in Mode safe and you have disabled other plugins)?

I tried to reinstall Firefox, install Flash again (firefox confirms that it is to this day), opening in safe mode, disabled all other plugins.

I'm out of ideas. A few Flash crashes (sometimes firefox seems not even to recognize the accident and it is almost never to send a report) when I spent about 5 seconds in a flash object. Literally a click will make it crash.

Is this a new problem? The reason why I ask this is that Adobe maintains a version of extended support to the Flash Player, which is 13.something. If you can not get Flash 18 working properly in Firefox, you can uninstall Flash and get this older version.

The support of Flash article has a link to the uninstaller program.

This page has the version of extended support (about 60% of the track and find the one for browsers based on plugin in English): https://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html

    Jenny

    Hi Jenny,

If I can import successfully with the old version, shouldn't I be able with the newest one?

As David said, you have a problem with the key foreign and probably views involved in the definition of the FK. DM 4.0.3 is not supported for FKs views. 4.1 DM has this support and try to import definitions from the repository of the designer.

So, if you can import with DM 4.0.3 and you are satisfied with the result then import with 4.0.3 and start using DM 4.1.

Is there a regression? Or can I change something in the designer to avoid this error?

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi Cedric,

Thanks for reporting this.  I connected a bug on this issue.

It seems that this problem occurs whenever a view references another view.

If the 4.0.3 version works for you, you probably better to stick with that until this problem is resolved.

  • need model of Oracle Designer data, for database roles

I use Oracle Designer 10.1.2.6 and must know where to find Descriptions of role for a module.

Here's my starting point of Designer-repository object Navigator,

    bus units.PNG

These point here, so in the end, I want to get role responsibilities-> "ACADEMIC_DEPARTMENT" on the right.

    Role description.PNG

I have looked at these tables, but can't find where to find these data.

    SELECT * FROM sdd_folders app - applications

SELECT * from sdd_folder_members afm - cross between applications and files

    SELECT * from sdd_folders fol - records

SELECT * from sdd_folder_members fms - cross between modules and files

SELECT * from sdd_mod gmd WHERE - modules

    SELECT * from tab sdd_tab - tables

    SELECT * DBI sdd_ite - data-bound items

    SELECT * from sdd_col col - columns

FYI - the list I found in ci_business_units (role_responsibilities column) was just a list of roles, what I was trying to get the list of roles assigned to a module.

I found the roles assigned to a module here:

    SELECT bnu.role_responsibilities

    The BNU .ci_business_units [owner]

    INNER JOIN [owner] .ci_module_business_units mbu ON mbu.business_unit_reference = bnu.irid

Actually, the default procedure is NOT to install oracle to X11R6, but in/opt/oracle. or maybe/usr/local/oracle.

This is what you're going to be recommended in the installation documentation, and in doing so, don't forget to run rootpre.sh and root.sh, I never had security problems and could run Oracle from any account.

Simply edit the oraparam.ini file to add your version of the OS to the list, it's somewhere near the top of the file. What they call 'Windows 7' is actually 6.1.something.

Of course, you can have compatibility issues far down the line.

  • Difference between Oracle Designer and developer of forms

    Hello

Could someone explain to me the subject

    Rgds

    sexy

Oracle Designer is a complete computer-aided design tool and software development. It gives you a set of tools for logical design as an entity-relationship diagrammer, a Process Modeler and a stream Diagrammer. It has a set of design tools from database to physical database design. It can also help to design modules of Oracle Forms application, reports Oracle, PL/SQL Web Toolkit or Visual Basic (VB6, I think, but versions not later as VB.Net). It will then generate these modules. It stores your designs in a metadata repository in an Oracle database, and you can make some nice reports your design data.

Oracle Forms Developer does one thing and does it very well - it allows you to design and develop modules of Oracle Forms. Note that Designer can do this too, but because the designer generates your forms, you don't have quite as much control over the way they look and work like you would with the Oracle Forms Developer.

One last thing, these tools are considered to be "mature". For Designer, this means that not much has changed or improved for a while. Forms, however, is still a few changes and improvements with each new version. Nothing really important, but more designer. See the statement of management tools for more information.

The version of the repository is very closely related to the version of the client. First, back up your repository - you want to be able to restore if something goes wrong. Upgrade your client to Designer by installing 10.1.2.5 according to the instructions in the installation guide. Do not forget that the designer belongs to Developer Suite, and you must install the entire Suite. All the workstations that will use this repository will need to be upgraded. Then start the repository Administration Utility (RAU), recording as the repository owner. Run the utility to check the requirements, to ensure that the owner has all the necessary privileges. If you have a valid 9.0.4, you probably don't need any privilege that you have not already, but it never hurts to check. Since the repository String corresponds to that client, the button 'Upgrade' in RAU will not be gray. Press "Upgrade" to upgrade the repository. There are choices to make here, especially what storage spaces to use for various components of the repository. Usually, you want to make the same selections you made when you first installed the repository, but if you have any questions about this, ask your DBA. Or you can ask a more specific question here. The upgrade will take a little time, and you want to have no user use it until the upgrade is complete. Once the repository has been upgraded, you will not be able to use the former client against her.
