Outlook Express error (corrupt Inbox file) 0x800c0133

I use Outlook Express. I can send, but not receive. I have deleted many emails that were never deleted, but still cannot receive. I was told that I have a damaged the Inbox file. Something about the Inbox.dbx box, but I don't know or how to fix this error.

Error number: 0x800C0133 = a corrupt Inbox.

Move any message you want to save to a local folder that you create. Then, remove the problem of Inbox as follows.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, the files of user OE (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder options | View.

With OE closed, find the box of Inbox.dbx and delete it. Another will be created automatically when you open OE.

General precautions for Outlook Express:

Do not archive mail in the receipt or sent items box. Create your own user-defined folders and move messages you want to put in them. Empty the deleted items folder daily. Although the dbx files have a theoretical capacity of 2 GB, I recommend all a 300 MB max for less risk of corruption.

After you're done, followed by compacting your folders manually while working * off * and do it often. Space messages take up is not recovered until you compact.

Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.

Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the processors and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs and account setting changes. Your up-to-date A / V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more information, see:

    Hi WilliamMGreen,

    1. Did you the latest changes on the computer?
    2. When was the last time you were able to open Outlook express on the computer?
    3. You have security software installed on the computer?

    Method 1

It is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.

I suggest that you configure the computer in a clean boot state and check if you can open outlook express.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows XP by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

See section to learn more about how to clean boot.

  • Office Express Error Msg: SENT file is currently being used by Outlook or by another application AND don't GET COMPACT. Help!

    Hello!

I have both Outlook 2003 and Outlook Express 2003 loaded on my computer
Only, I use Outlook Express and have not used regularly Outlook in 5 years.
I have no problems using Express, (both in the sending or receiving of emails).
There is no "snap-emails" sent or received in Outlook regular and none in the Outbox.  The same with the Express.

About every month, compresses files Outlook Express and in doing so, the folder sent items do not get compressed, it does not create a new file SentItems.bak and it gives me the error: has SENT the file is currently being used by Outlook or by another application.

All the time this problem started, I received a number of updates to Office 2003 from Microsoft (probably updates 20-25).  They have installed without incident and that's the only problem resulting, I had with one of the components of Office.

Thanks again for your help.  I'm looking forward to this problem so that it works correctly.

    John Murphy

The sent items folder may have a corruption.  Create a new folder and copy the text in the folder into the new folder.  Then close OE and delete the file sent items.dbx.  OE will create a new.  DBX files should not receive more than a few hundred megabytes or they get corrupted.

A more effective solution: since you seem to have corruption, it may mean that there are more, if you can set up a new message store by clicking file | Identities.  Then you can add your accounts, use the file | Import | Messages to bring them from the old identity.  Which will remove all corruption.

Whatever it is, it's a good time to save your messages in OE, because it tends to remove them in unexpected ways.  See www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#6 also, if resumes default Outlook, he likes to do when he starts to date, just see www.oehelp.com/oedef.aspx

    See if that helps.

  • Outlook Express error unknown.

I use Outlook Express and have been forever.  I've upgraded to a new computer last year, at this time of the year and the thing have been working fine, until this morning.  All of a sudden, I get the following message appears when you try to send from Outlook Express: "an unknown error was returned from the Server SMTP." "Protocol: SMTP, server response: ' 521 this system is configured to reject messages from 67.238.113.98 (detected Spam attack) ', Port 25, secure (SSL): no, Server error: error 521 number: 0x800CCC61.

What happens physically, it's that the email send immediately, as she normally does.  It takes about 2 hours for it to be sent.  I tried my local server for their help.  They went through the computer remotely and found nothing other than the error message, which indicates to them that there may be something wrong with the registry.  They suggested that I go online and see if there is a hotfix or an update for Outlook Express.

Y at - it a patch or a remedy to this problem?  What could have happened to this product to make it go bad in one year?

Thanks to all who responded.  Late yesterday afternoon, I received a call from my ISP that a card had been installed on our system which seemed to corrupt that some email accounts.  Very rare, but nevertheless I am back in business today.  Mike

  • full memory of Outlook express error 0x800c013b

When I go to OE I receive this message memory or the disk is full. Then get an error (0x800Co13B). Then another one that says file MSOE. DLL could not be initialized. What I can do. Thanks for your help.

Close OE and delete the message store Folders.dbx.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

If you can not open OE at all, the path to the message will be very similar to this:

    C:\Documents and Settings\Your User of utilisateur\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\ {long string of letters & numbers} \Microsoft\Outlook Express

In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

Remove Folders.dbx. A new Folders.dbx file will be created when you open OE.

    Note these possible side effects:

When you re - start OE, it will build a new index of all *.dbx files it can read and create a new Folders.dbx. Please understand that you will lose the mail directory structure, all the discussion lists and all synchronization options and message rules will probably have to be edited.

  • Outlook Express wants to compact files several times per day

I deleted most of my Deleted messages and sent folders and I greeted the OE to go through the process of compaction, but happens several times a day and it's driving me crazy!   I went into the Maintenance tab under Tools, but it doesn't seem to be a solution.  I have to save at least 3 months of messages in these files for commercial purposes.  What can I do to prevent it from appearing?

Compacting does not delete messages, only the space wasted. If you don't lose messages, it's either because of damaged files or disrupt the process of compaction.

If you compacted it completed successfully, and you see the prompt earlier that 100 closures of OE, then see if you have Windows search installed. If you do, you need to tell Windows Search to stop indexing OE.

In the control panel. Indexing Options. Change. Clear the check box for Outlook Express.

If you have lost messages during compaction, see this.

Two reasons the most common for what you describe is disruption of the compacting process, (never touch anything until it's finished), or bloated folders. More about that below.

Why OE insists on compacting folders when I close it? :
    http://www.insideoe.com/FAQs/why.htm#compact

    Why mail disappears:
    http://www.insideoe.com/problems/bugs.htm#mailgone

    Recovery methods:

If you use XP/SP2 or SP3, and are fully patched, then you should have a backup of your dbx files in the Recycle Bin (or possibly the message store), copied as bak files.

To restore a folder bak on the message store folder, first find the location of the message store.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, the .dbx files are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in the Solution Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder options | View.

Close OE and in Windows Explorer, click on the dbx to the file missing or empty file, then drag it to the desktop. It can be deleted later once you have successfully restored the bak file. Minimize the message store.

Open OE and, if the folder is missing, create a folder with the * exact * same name as the bak file you want to restore but without the .bak. For example: If the file is Saved.bak, the new folder should be named saved. Open the new folder, and then close OE. If the folder is there, but just empty, continue to the next step.

First of all, check if there is a bak file already in the message. If there is, and you have removed the dbx file, go ahead and rename it in dbx.

If it is not already in the message, open the trash and do a right-click on the file bak for the folder in question and click on restore. Open the message store up and replace the .bak by .dbx file extension. Close the message store and open OE. Messages must be in the folder.

If messages are restored successfully, you can go ahead and delete the old dbx file that you moved to the desktop.

If you have not then bak copies of your dbx files in the Recycle Bin:

DBXpress run in extract disc Mode is the best chance to recover messages:
    http://www.oehelp.com/DBXpress/default.aspx

    And see:
    http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#4

A general warning to help avoid this in the future:

Do not archive mail in default OE folders. They finally are damaged. Create your own folders defined by the user for mail storage and move your mail to them. Empty the deleted items folder regularly. Keep user created folders under 300 MB, and also empty as is possible to default folders.

Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the CPUs, slows down sending and receiving and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs, account setting changes and has even been responsible for the loss of messages. Your up-to-date A / V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more information, see:
    http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3
