    Hello

can you write here, how large are the files of Outlook Express data? (specifically Sent Items.dbx )

These files has the limit of 2 GB and are stored:

    C:\Documents and Settings\#USERNAME#Settings\Application Data\Identities\ {unique hexadecimal string} \Microsoft\Outlook Express

where #USERNAME # is your username.

Here is some information on the DBX files:

    http://www.ABF-soft.com/dbx-file.shtml

If the file 'Envoyes.dbx' has size 2 GB, that Outlook Express can not move e-mail sent in this file and, therefore, the email are always send over and over again...

When I send an e-mail message, the message is sent, however, it remains in my "Outbox" and does not go to the contrary to my Inbox "sent items".  Downstairs, to the left of the Outbox, a message says '0 1 message sent' but the e-mail message is sent.  I "fixed" internet explore and "restored" to a policy earlier, but this has not solved the problem.  What is the solution?  Please notify.  Thank you.

I have moved all my messages on my "Sent items" folder and the "trash" to other folders, closed Outlook Express and delete the file Sent Items.dbx and Outbox.dbx file.  I reopened Outlook Express, and it does not create new sent items folders and the Outbox.

  • Outlook express send e-mail, get the error message, but no error send copies but listed 6.

Home-Internet Outlook Express 6 XP Windows. Have a Norton Security System. When an e-mail is sent, an error message appears "Please consult the list of errors below for more details", none are listed. The e-mail is sent and appears also in the output area to be send. The e-mail message is received to the person, it is sent, but there are 6 copies of them. Sometimes, a box on the bottom appears Norton, checking emails. It appears, at this point, all 6 are treated through Norton. The file send list however one as being sent.

You have apparent dbx file corruption.

To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

    General precautions for Outlook Express:

Do not archive mail in the receipt or sent items box. Create your own user-defined folders and move messages you want to put in them. Empty the deleted items folder daily. Although the dbx files have a theoretical capacity of 2 GB, I recommend all a 300 MB max for less risk of corruption.

Outlook and Outlook Express are completely different products and are not related except for the names.

The problem you describe product generally when you have not defined thte option to authenticate your outgoing SMTP server.  If you click on tools > accounts, select your account, then click Properties, you should see a Servers tab.  This tab is a check box labeled "my server requires authentication".  Check it out.  Then check the settings button to the right.  You'll see two radio buttons.  From the top, labeled 'Use same settings as my mail server outgoing' is generally the right to choose.

  • Outlook Express sending multiple e-mails to friends.

    Original title: Outlook Express

My Outlook Express has stopped working about a week ago a few days and without apparent reason.  It seems now to be sending multiple emails to friends for example every 6 minutes or so and up to 53 times and counting.  Help!

What is a pop3 account? Create a new Outbox and sent items folder.

Follow these steps for the Outbox and sent items after you move the messages you want to save to a local folder that you create.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

  • messages lost in Outlook Express in the month of September 2011.

messages lost in outlook express in the month of September 2011 and they reappeared last week, then again disappeared. How to restore the mEssages'.

    1. View | Current view. Is checked all show messages?
    2. What is a pop3 account?

If the answer is Yes, then the two main reasons for what you describe is disruption of the compacting process, (never touch anything until it's finished), or bloated folders. More about that below.

Why OE insists on compacting folders when I close it? :
    http://www.insideoe.com/FAQs/why.htm#compact

    Why mail disappears:
    http://www.insideoe.com/problems/bugs.htm#mailgone

    Recovery methods:

If you use XP/SP2 or SP3, and are fully patched, then you should have a backup of your dbx files in the Recycle Bin (or possibly the message store), copied as bak files.

To restore a folder bak on the message store folder, first find the location of the message store.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, the .dbx files are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in the Solution Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder options | View.

Close OE and in Windows Explorer, click on the dbx to the file missing or empty file, then drag it to the desktop. It can be deleted later once you have successfully restored the bak file. Minimize the message store.

Open OE and, if the folder is missing, create a folder with the * exact * same name as the bak file you want to restore but without the .bak. For example: If the file is Saved.bak, the new folder should be named saved. Open the new folder, and then close OE. If the folder is there, but just empty, continue to the next step.

First of all, check if there is a bak file already in the message. If there is, and you have removed the dbx file, go ahead and rename it in dbx.

If it is not already in the message, open the trash and do a right-click on the file bak for the folder in question and click on restore. Open the message store up and replace the .bak by .dbx file extension. Close the message store and open OE. Messages must be in the folder.

If messages are restored successfully, you can go ahead and delete the old dbx file that you moved to the desktop.

If you have not then bak copies of your dbx files in the Recycle Bin:

DBXpress run in extract disc Mode is the best chance to recover messages:
    http://www.oehelp.com/DBXpress/default.aspx

    And see:
    http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#4

A general warning to help avoid this in the future:

Do not archive mail in default OE folders. They finally are damaged. Create your own folders defined by the user for mail storage and move your mail to them. Empty the deleted items folder regularly. Keep user created folders under 300 MB, and also empty as is possible to default folders.

Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the CPUs, slows down sending and receiving and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs, account setting changes and has even been responsible for the loss of messages. Your up-to-date A / V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more information, see:
