Overset text is not in story editor

Hi people,

I can't do the overset text display or reappear in any other reasonable way. The editor mode just displays «#» (This is what is displayed on all pages). But I don't know that there is overset text because I can load it, but simply cannot place anywhere it will show. Also, at the edge of the box there is no red zone which marks usually overset text, but just a simple box empty blue. Don't get no error message in the preflight Panel.

Because I structured the main part of the book with text in overflow, this means that the entire book is currently invisible.

Furthermore, the text has been postponed when inserting a table of contents.

I really hope that someone knows what could be causing...

See you soon

Lisa

I don't think that there is some overset text.

You can click in the empty outport of any image to say ID that you want to link this image to another, which would give you the loaded cursor that you describe, but that doesn't mean not there is additional text in the frame that did is not, only that if there is more text added that it will sink to the linked frame again if necessary. # Is the end of the indicator of the history, and you'll see even in a framework that contains no text at all.

    Hello

    I have a button leave on my application that I would leave the application entirely (that is to say, the command Quit LabView) during its operation as a stand-alone exe, but not when I run the VI in the Editor environment. Is it possible to determine if a VI runs as a standalone exe?

    Try the attached VI. It uses the application name property to determine whether to quit or stop

  • Go point overset text when it should not

    InDesign CS Version 3.0.1 (2003) for Windows - I've been using this software on a desktop HP 5 days a week for about 2 years now, and I never had this problem before. (I'm not an expert). I have an 8 1/2 x 11 1/2 "of the margins, a box from 1 1/4" to the bottom of the page running at the bottom margin. I am typing, typing, typing, so I start a new paragraph about 2/3 down the page (anywhere near my bottom margin), full justification. At the end of the first line, while I'm typing I notice the text disappears for overset text. If I delete the part of what I typed just to bring the back line, and then press return at the end of the line (the one with the rest of the alpha, not in the number pad keyboard), the text remains on this page. Of course I shouldn't have hit back at the end of each line of type this paragraph. I have read several posts similar to this problem and no, this isn't my keyboard, I'm not on a laptop. I tried to reset my preferences, but it still happens. I looked at every possible setting I can think of and can't find anything strange. I compared my other documents the settings and they are all good. I do not use paragraph styles. I looked to attack, paragraph keep options hidden characters (no cracks appear) and story editor. I deleted half of the text in the text box and retyped it, but it still happens. I really want to recreate this entire document unless it is my last option, I want to know what the problem with it!

    I zipped the document but I can't say how to attach to my post. I know nothing to put the document on a server so that people can see. If someone can tell me how to attach the file zip here (if you can) I will do. Or I'll send it to you. If not, does anyone have an idea how to solve this? What Miss me?

    Yes, it's No Break applied to the whole line.

  • text in hidden areas of text, but the text is in story editor

    Hello

    Big problem here and looking for any help at the moment.

    All of a sudden in my text boxes text is missing. The area where one is empty. When I check the story editor, the text is there.

    I noticed that where there should be some text, missing text.jpg the boxes are connected by red wires. When there is text, wire lines are blue. I've not seen mentioned that I searched.

    Some images have also disappeared.

    What's past and how to fix this?

    Thank you.

    It seems that some of the blocks of text are on a second layer. This layer is off? We have seen some reports of text having become white inexplicably, too.

  • Excess of autoflow text will not properly - please help

    I am currently working on a book. I did some changes to paragraph styles and what not when I realized a mistake - overset text before the flight. I expect that, as a result of font sizes different etc.. However, when I try "automatic formatting" the text of the page where the overset text begins (by clicking on the Red + sign and then shift + click to a new page) there is no text. three new pages appear with the blocks of text, no text, and another in excess of error before the flight of text at the end of these pages. I tried to add 100 pages (just to be safe) and try to automatic placement of the text after each overset text has been detected by preflight. However, I not had chance after 'autoflowing' text 7 times. I don't know what the deal is. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

    using ID CC

    Most likely there is something in the first line of text in excess that prevents the packaging line, either a keep option, dashes that exceed the width of column, a long string that is applied without breaking or a bouquet of nonbreaking spaces in a string where hyphenation has been disabled. The best way to diagnose this is to display the text in story editor, where you can see and choose the excess.

  • change the point size of overset text paragraph style

    Hi guys,.

    I can't work this at all.

    I want to gradually reduce the size of the text in a block of overset text.

    I want to reduce the relative size of each paragraph for example, body text style is 9pt and 10pt subheadings, so the body of the text should reduce 8.5pt and subheading 9.5 ft.

    myDoc var = app.activeDocument;

    myTextFrame = myDoc.textFrames;

    for (i = 0; i < myTextFrame.length; i ++) {}

    While (myTextFrame [i] .overflows)

    myTextFrame [i]. ParagraphStyles.everyItem (.pointSize) - is 0.5;.

    }

    That's what I have, but I can't seem to access paragraph styles.

    Any suggestions?

    [Jongware] pretty much answered that question in your previous post: reduce the size of the text in a text overset frame

    [Jongware] wrote:

    1. for (i = 0; i
    2. {
    3. {while (App.activeDocument.Stories [i]. Overflows)}
    4. app.activeDocument.stories [i] .pointSize-= 0.5;
    5. app.activeDocument.stories [i] .recompose ();
    6. }
    7. }

    (Note that the text of the story gets the same size. "I hope that this is not a problem with your text.)

    Yes, it says that all of the text of the story will have the same size text applied... but it is a simple amendment to add a loop for () to run lines 4 and 5 through each paragraph in the story rather than the full story. Try this and see how it goes.

  • How can I move reference text do not match

    I have a document with 900 pages and 2700 notes (imported from the word). After a day of styling etc I noticed that there was a problem with some of the references. The text of a note has been added at the end of the old text of reference. The reference text does not at this stage, the reference number. It is off by one.

    How can I fix?

    This same problem has been discussed here: Re: How do I move the note-text up a reference for all the notes after a given number?

    But I'm not familiar with the scripts, so I did not understand how to apply this...

    cramik script works great, but he's copying notes backward. You want to copy the attackers, from the note "doubled upward.

    This is a full version and adjusted:

    //DESCRIPTION:Move footnotes FORWARDS into place// based on cramik 8-Apr-2014// https://forums.adobe.com/message/6280047var myStory =  app.selection[0].parent;var myName = myInput ();// rest of the scriptfunction myInput (){ var myWindow =new Window ("dialog", "Form"); var myInputGroup = myWindow.add ("group"); myInputGroup.add ("statictext", undefined, "First note to correct:"); var myText = myInputGroup.add ("edittext", undefined, ""); myText.characters = 5; myText.active =true; var myButtonGroup = myWindow.add ("group"); myButtonGroup.alignment ="right"; myButtonGroup.add ("button", undefined, "OK"); myButtonGroup.add ("button", undefined, "Cancel");if(myWindow.show ()== 1) {  var noteStart = myText.text;  var myNotes = myStory.footnotes;  for (i=myNotes.length-1; i>=noteStart; i--)  {   myNotes[i-1].texts[0].move (LocationOptions.BEFORE, myNotes[i].insertionPoints[0]);  } } else  exit ();}

    To Save this as a good script: copy, paste it into the editor of ExtendScript Toolkit (or any other ordinary code editor), save to your Scripts folder. See http://indesignsecrets.com/how-to-install-a-script-in-indesign-that-you-found-in-a-forum-o r-blog - post.php for the long version.

    To run this:

    1. click on the text cursor inside running story that contains your notes.

    2. double-click on the script to run.

    3. the dialog box that opens advertising the first note move "forward". Enter the reference number that contains your duplicate text. The script will also move one in its entirety, so make sure to copy the text correct return empty (now) one with which you started.

    Be sure to test on a copy, just in case something goes wrong!

  • Marking in story editor mess up the Structure

    I have an XML file that looks like this:

    <? XML version = "1.0" encoding = "utf-8"? >

    < MailItem attribut1 = "Value1" attribut2 = "and so on...» ">

    < Mail_ID > 12345 < / Mail_ID >

    < CustomerName > Mr. Bray < / CustomerName >

    < Sale_Date > 2015 - 02 - 24 < / Sale_Date >

    < AndOtherElementsToo >, which are not important right now < / AndOtherElementsToo >

    < / MailItem >

    It is important to note that this document may have a < MailItem > (se), that in fact a component root. I tried this wrapping in ANOTHER component root called < MailJob > but which caused too many problems. More on this in a minute.

    I have an InDesign template which is very simple. No tables, nothing. I import my XML file into my TAGS Panel and go to the city marking different placeholder text with things like Mail_ID and Sale_Date. I perform a test IMPORT XML and things look great. A minor annoyance is if the items are not in the right order in the STRUCTURE pane, they will not be imported correctly, but I can engineer around it ensuring that the elements are manufactured in a static order. So far so good.

    The problem comes when I go to the part of the 'letter' of my model. It begins, 'Dear so-and-so,' (literally). Since I want ' and if ' to be the real name of my data, I need this tag. I opened this place in the story editor (since I want only the PART of the replaced text) and I select ' and if ' and I select the CustomerName tag in my tag Board.

    What's going to happen, it's when the wheels are loose the wagon and I desperately need help. As soon as I have the label, three things happen:

    1. The tag appears in the story editor. Very pretty. No problem here
    2. A new tag appear in my TAG pane called "history".
    3. My shutter Structure creates a new element called history and built a new element, CustomerName below

    When I perform a test import now, greeting on the letter is not replaced (the data does not matter) because, well, the structure does not match incoming data. It is the search for < MailJob > < history > < CustomerName > Mr. Bray < / CustomerName > < / history > < / MailJob > I don't have in my XML file.

    I learn that defining the predefined Options tag allows me to change the default 'Story' to any pre-existing tag value. Great! This solves the #2 problem above ('history' tag will be created in my TAGS Panel). But #3 problem still happens; Now, my structure looks like this:

    • MailItem
      • Mail_ID
      • CustomerName
      • Sale_date
      • MailItem "Dear so-and-so."
        • CustomerName

    ARG! All ways try to drag and drop the element of CustomerName nested on the rise in the results of the Structure of the text being UNIDENTIFIED in the placeholder and the process starts again when I try to fix it.

    I thought for a moment that maybe tags embedded in need of story editor live within a second level element instead of right under the root element, so I wrapped the entire XML file in < MailJob > < / MailJob > elements. This only make it impossible to have placeholders for text individual normal import/replace correctly (even though I reloaded the tags in the TAGS of the newly wrapped file panel). I did not worth analysis tags to the breast-story-editor, given that it's a deal breaker right from the start.

    I can't just reformat the XML to match what InDesign expected because we have AN xml format (and exporting) for hundreds of document layouts. I * really * don't want to apply the XSLT for every weird change design group wants to do (for example 'we want to suddenly start using the name of the State in the text of the letter, you can update the XSLT file?") and besides, we run jobs GIANT (from thousands of individual documents) and file XML EACH XSLT processing will slow things more I want (I already have a slow process upstream, I deal with I don't want it to be slower)

    I'm going crazy, the pressure is on and I'm desperate for help. Why can't get existing XML elements to import within a placeholder (with static text or other elements) in the same way that when I tag an entire placeholder? What I am doing wrong?

    No worries. I think I see what you are wanting.

    XML is a sequence of single stream. Once you create several images, ID considers that these frames separate stories. For an example, click in the top frame and the search for the word prove. Unless ID is to be found in the document, ID will not find the Word as it appears only in the second frame. ID applies to XML, which, like importing a Word document, needs to be told where to go when there are several images.

    A few choices.

    Thread management. This will then work without fuss - if it works for your design.

    Change the XML in order to take account not threaded frames. In the screenshot, I did a quick XML and imported. Now, I would not recommend root several elements, but it's quick and dirty.

    And the XML that goes with it is:

    TWO STORIES

    CHANGE THE XML
    TO MATCH STRUCTURE

  • URL creates the overset text

    I'm pulling on my hair. I use since before InDesign InDesign, and I've never seen this problem before.

    I imported a Word 2007 document in InDesign 5.0. The text flowed includes URLs, and this isn't a problem... until I get to the one who creates the overset text. A block of text with full page, I have two lines of text at the top, and I can't even at the end of the document. The text is in excess to infinity.

    I looked in editor mode. I'm still working with characters hidden power. I deleted all styles of Word. I copied all the text in Notepad and pasted into a new doc DLI. I made sure 'No. Breaks' is disabled. In short, I did everything what I can do.

    An interesting thing is that if I turn the hyphenation in the paragraph, the rest of the URL is displayed, but the rest of the text in excess (additional paragraphs) does not work. I can't have a hyphen in a URL, however. And where is the rest of the overset text?

    Any ideas what's happening? Furthermore, I create a reference page for a thesis, and I have done this very thing much, much time (I'm an editor).

    Save me before I'm completely bald... Thanks for any help!

    Oversets like this can be caused by several things. More common is the text which is unbreakble and too wide for the column, which may be due No Break applied to a long string, no break allowed words and a long Word (or URL) or the use of the breaking between words, or left/right paragraph spaces indented this leave inusfficient space (these can be in styles or integrated in the frame). Some keep Options Association which is impossible to honor is also possible.

    You can insert a discretionary line break or a Space of width zero in your URL for you it break at the time of your choice, but ID typically will break a long URL with a slash or dot.

  • It is Possible to prevent the overset text?

    Thanks in advance and hell

    With CS 5.5 on a Mac, I am formatting of a manuscript. I did 300 pages; all pages have a Master frame.

    So far, the text fills to page 212 - after that the remaining pages are blank.

    (I know that the book will fill up a little less than 300 pages when I'm done add things.)

    When I add text - or create a page break - for example, at page 100, my preflight Panel indicates that there is now an error: overset text.

    Text from the top of the page 212 (last page) has moved down fill page 212, and the box in excess will appear at the bottom of page 212.

    My question is: why not just text flow on page 213?

    (instead of creation of overset text).

    I have "Intelligent Redistribution" checked and also

    Add pages at the end of the story is checked and also

    Limit to master text frames.

    Is it possible to establish that whenever I add text, the text flows on the next blank page at the end - instead of in excess of text?

    Thanks again!

    OK, on the master page is a text frame where will your main text? You would have got an automatically if you checked the box Document Naster text block. It is the main setting to which I was referring. If there is not (which I think would be a good thing), then your intelligent redistribution cannot function if limited to Master frame.

  • EasyTab labels & contextual text appearing not

    I just filed an application developed with CVI 6.0 on to CVI 9.0 and I'm under problems with labels not showing upward when ran on the system target (XP Embedded). I've learned since I need to select the 'Western Character Set' for each control in order for the label appears correctly. I solved the problems for all controls in the GUI editor. I always have problems with the text does not arise for the control labels Easytab and pop-up windows. I searched the CVI API and passed the Easytab FP but I can't find anything that would allow me to set the character set for these controls.

    Does anyone have a solution for this problem?

    Thank you.

    I solved the problem simply by going in regional & Language Options Advanced and passed to the English (United Kingdom), then back to English (United States) and that some how solve my problems.

  • No text no not in Premiere Pro

    I created a slide show in the first Clip and added a few slides of text. The project settings are all verified - that is to say fade in, out, crossfade, movement. The text is visible as expected when I saved the film.

    Then, I used Edit in Premiere Pro and opens the project in Premiere Pro. However, even if his script displays text clips where planned, there is no text in them and previews of movies with background color during these periods. Double click on the text element takes me into a text editor, but the text is not present (for example it is not black text on a black background).

    Any ideas?

    John

    Hi John,.

    Your message led us to the discovery of a bug in the Exchange with Premiere Pro. Namely, if the title text contains a 'special character' (e.g., ampersand), then the first fails to import the entire title. To determine if this is the problem, please post the exact text of a title that is displayed without text in Premiere Pro.

    In addition, exactly which versions of the Clip and body are you running?

  • I can auto adjust all the blocks of text with overset text?

    Due to several factors (change computers, versions of different fonts, etc.), I had to change most of the fonts in my text-heavy document.

    There are a lot of charts and tables in this 125-page document, and now most of all text frames have overset text.

    The new font is in fact identical to the previous one, however, there are a few differences that are causing it take more text frames. I tried to adjust the line spacing in my character and paragraph styles, but these do not seem to effect.

    Is there a way to automatically adjust all frames in excess to account for the new font?

    Thanks in advance.

    Not sure that the result will be 100% desirable, but there is a way to define all frames to auto-size...

    Run find/replace and choose the tab object.

    Down, choose the Document research: menu. Choose the blocks of text such as: menu.

    Click the icon of glass/frame next to the search Object Format field:

    In the Options of Format object search dialog box, choose Auto setting 'Off' on the text size Options > menu automatic sizing:

    Click OK, and then click the icon / window next to the subject of change Format field:

    In the change object Format Options dialog box, choose 'Height' only on the text size Options framework Auto > auto-size menu, and then click the up button in the Center in the framework - pinning proxy:

    Note: Another option for pinning would be better according to your presentations, but this setting will make executives grow at the bottom, which seems the most logical... in most cases.

    Click OK, and then change all.

  • overset text when creating background using the rectangle tool

    I met a strange problem that I can't solve alone, and I can't describe it well enough for a search engine to see if anyone else has experienced. I have a document with text and graphics on the page. I've created a header in the master document, but as soon as I tried to create a background color by dragging a rectangle on any page, it says that my header text is overset. I tried to send the bottom at the back of the document in the rearrange menu, always in excess. Tried to create the background on another layer below the text of the header... always in excess. Curiously however, when I clicked on the Red '+' symbol in the text box and click outside of it (as if I had to create a new text box to continue the overset text) will be the text magically adjusted comfortably inside its original text box (and no new text box is created). So I thought that solved the problem, but all the lines of text in the body of the document are always in excess. I have the piece longer than 100 boxes so I don't want to do it manually... and even when I try to adjust the text box to solve the problem "in excess", I have to drag the right text box at the edge of the page so that it is some text can reside outside the area covered by the master page background.

    It is clear that indesign is to see the bottom not as background at all and instead a foreground that covers the text, but what is weird is that this isn't matter if I send it to the back, and it affects all the graphic elements, text. Is it a kind of void master page that I'm missing/don't understand? Thanks for the help!

    It can be a text wrapping, try to select text block, then go to the object menu > text block Options > General > ignore the dressing.
