  Whenever I try to open an image in the preview, it crashes immediately.  This happened for several weeks now.  When I look at the crash report it references 8.1 Preview as having the issue.  When I click straight on a picture on my desk and say open with preview 8.0, I don't have a problem.

  Is there a way to preview 8.0 my default for opening images?

• How to avoid the accidental use of the Trackpad with El Capitan

  I have a Macbook with El Capitan.

  I use it constantly to type documents, however I also regularly in the battle with the trackpad being accidentally struck by a part of my hand so move the cursor with the result that I end up also write!

  It's really frustrating and does not limit my abilities to strike as I constantly to make sure that I don't have, wrongly, hits the trackpad!

  I tried see if there are solutions but, other than the use of an external apple keyboard, I can't find any other solution to avoid hitting this erronously trackpad!

  Is there a setting that I can take advantage of to render the less sensitive trackpad and so avoid this disadvantage?

  I do not know if you do not want to do, but you could use an external mouse or trackpad and check the option "ignore the... integrated trackpad." "in the apple Menu > System Preferences > accessibility > mouse and Trackpad. See below:

  You can probably not - most likely, you will need to switch to Photos (what would happen sooner or later anyway)

  Have you looked under purchases in the app store?  Can't update iPhoto because it is not available in the App Store

  If it is not there you can try reinstalling iPhoto 11 of the original source and the upgrade to 9.6.1 but I doubt it will work

  I stupidly chose Adobe as my default player in El Capitan and now can't find how to go back to the overview as my default pdf viewer.

  If you have removed correctly preview player will now be the default value, did you remove Reader?

  Overview and El Capitan (10.11.3) I can use some tools/set size to change the size of the image.  BUT I CAN'T SAVE THE NEW IMAGE! I tried to 'Save', 'Duplicate' and ' save under ' and no matter what I do the picture returns to the size of the original.  Help please.

  I forgot to mention that I also tried 'Export' too.  That no longer works. The image comes back to the original size.

• Several accidents of Finder in El Capitan

  Since I installed El Capitan on my Mac mini (late 2012, i7), I've known several newspapers freezes Finder and accidents. Sometimes the Finder raise on its own, but most of the time, I have to take care of it manually. I'll paste the last report of crash below, but first some notes:

  ~ I have two internal HARD - a drive and a FW800, both of which are partitioned into two (for a total of four partitions).

  ~ I generally keep a Finder window open all the time, with four or five tabs showing the records I look in on a regular basis.

  ~ I am running 10.11.2. Under 10.11.1, I had experienced a strange bug in the Finder, where the contents of Finder tabs would be badly redesigned, often shortly before Finder would become unresponsive. I found finally put the viewfinder mode full screen would require a refresh; the fix worked even after the removal of full-screen.

  ~ I haven't tried to use another user account. It comes to my work machine, and it would be really disruptive to have to spend a day connected as someone else.

  As well as a work machine, I'm sure you appreciate the need for a backup.  So did a clone before installing El Capitan?   Installation of software not tested on a machine is never wise without a backup.

  It is possible that the graphics chip or RAM is bad, and El Capitan is located be more sensitive to this issue.   I would be the hardware test came with your Mac to see if a problem is detected, hold the D key at startup, and track in extended mode.  If none is found, it is more likely that the RAM is in question.

  You can use Etrecheck to see if there might be some software that you have installed it's not El Capitan compatible or contribute to the problem.   Copy/paste its results here for us to know what you find.   And protect your data if you do not already have: *

  Upgrades rarely difficulty of issues like these.   You need to isolate the problem in its current form until it happens is no longer.

• Safari on Mac El Capitan accidents

  Hi, recently updated to El Capitan and installed all updates including safari.  Safari then began to plant start up. Have followed the instructions found on the Internet (via the iPad) to remove all extensions, cache, plug-ins etc etc.  Can now open Safari on the home page (IE at least to get the toolbar to the top), but when trying to open a web page, it crashes again.  Really have access to the Internet as e-mail, iTunes work.  Looked in System Preferences, General and see that the browser Web Defautl is empty.  When click on it, I have no options, just a tick that will not do anything.   Any suggestions please?

  If you do not have another browser installed:

  Shut down the computer.

  Press the power button. As soon as you hear the startup tone, hold down the SHIFT key .

  Press the SHIFT key as soon as possible after the start, but not until the startup sound.

  Release the SHIFT key when you see the Apple logo on the screen. Start-up will take more time than usual.

  Flickering screen is normal when you enter Safe Mode.

  iMac 5K retina with El Capitan 10.11.1. Latest version after effects 13.6. No matter how the model is simple, it won't read or preview without stuttering, unless I hide the timeline. Hit the tilde key ~ key allows me to works for the main window and the preview. But the update designed to fix the recently introduced terribly efficient survey system has not fixed the problem.

  No second monitor not attached, no transit of mercury turned on. Lots of RAM and very simple comps. I read on these forums earlier where a technology adobe says that the problem is user interface taking too many resources at the opening. Makes sense. But you wish someone from adobe has been listening and working on a solution.

  Try adding the signal to the workspace, and then position it under the timeline and do it too thin horizontal as possible.  If I do that even my Mac Mini will run previews in real-time.

  After tinkering for a few hours, I am now able to open PDF with Adobe Acrobat documents.  I had to uninstall the CD player and do some archeology to download an older version.  The CD player continually crashed.  I'd appreciate an upgrade if it would work. Others have this problem?

• New Audio USB Interface lose sound on El Capitan

  Hi all!

  A few weeks ago that I upgraded my MacBook Pro retina 15 "end 2013 to El Capitan, after that my USB Audio Interfaces (Focusrite Scarlett 2i4) and Safire 6 USB stopped working properly. Both work correctly when they are connected to an iMac 5K running the same operating system.

  I can listen to Audio for some time (about 10-2 Minutes, it is always different), when the Audio starts to crush und get outs, after a certain time there is only silence "click on" come out of the speakers.

  I already tried to reinstall OS X (starting with CMD R and reinstall OS), reset PRAM and SMC. Nothing has changed the question. Any ideas where it comes from?

  It is most likely a software conflict. Note the time at which audio is running out. Open the Console and look for accidents or mistakes at this time.

  The reason why it crashes on a mac, but not the others most likely is related to differences in software installed. Run Etrecheck on touch mac and post the report here.

  Did you delete the Documents folder that is normally found in your folder/Home /? The entrance to the docking station is simply a form of alias created by dragging the real Documents folder icon in the Dock. Is that what you did? In addition, this has nothing to do with the downloads. Those who go into the downloads folder, also in the folder/home /.
