P70-A-11N satellite: cannot boot Linux from USB flash memory

Hello

so far, I found no way to start an on-line system to a bootable USB key with a linux operating system installed.
It is for sure a bios issue and the choice of preferences. Maybe someone has a solution for this problem!

It's a P70 - A - 11N Notebook Toshiba

Thank you very much in advance

Hello

I never tested the P70 - A myself, but I'm sure it will be able to boot Linux Live glue.
Please consider what applies in your case:

-your computer running Win 8.X (or upgraded from Win8.X to Win10) at the present time? If so, you probably use UEFI and secure boot.
-you use an able to start with active secure boot Linux dist? End tracks major distributions such as Ubuntu and Fedora (and probably many others!) can start with active secure boot.
S ' Please keep in mind that victory 8.X can be a bit tricky. Cold boot (power off boot), it normally (it's adjustable in power management, so that it is not written in stone!) the unit will not worry if there are other bootable media from the unit (such as a USB key). Or he'll care for your F12-pressings reach the start menu.
To get the start menu, you should let Windows start on a connection or a desk. Then select restart.
The operating system stops and the device will restart. When this happens, you have to be quick and press F12 repeatedly to interrupt the boot process.
Look at the screen. As soon as TOSHIBA logo appears, press F12 repeatedly.
You should get the boot menu.

I hope this helps!

bzunic, have you updated the firmware your model?

With my own game, (32RL900A), the notice said that some of the buttons of the remote control are "unused", however, after the first update of the firmware, the "unused" buttons have been used, (in our case, record, Time Shift and so on).

Is the reason why I talk about this, these features became available after an update of the firmware and not included in the manual of the user, in our case, and a subsequent download of the instruction manual for our model actually gave instructions for the use of these features, which have been presented as 'not available '. in the manual original instructions supplied with the TV, but became available after the update of the firmware.

    Hello!

Well, to me it sounds like it's the Linux boot disk isn't working properly if you can start the Toshiba Recovery disk successfully.
Have you tested the same disk of Linux to another computer or laptop?

In your case, I would try to burn the Linux disk again and use high quality as Verbatim DVD - R or TDK media.
Never had any problems with the two manufacturers.

    Good luck!

  • Cannot boot windows from usb after installing linux

    Hello.
I bought a laptop (lenovo g500s) provided with windows 8. At the beginning, I decided to try linux and I installed Linux Mint for a few months.
But now I want to install Windows 7 and I already have the. ISO burned on my USB key.

When I start the USB is not recognized. And who does not come with linux distributions, I've been able to start without problems.

I think it has something to do with UEFI, but I'm not sure.
If I choose Legacy support, will not read USB. If I choose the UEFI, it says something about IPv4 and IPv6 on the trunk, and then an error occurs.

Someone has an idea of what it could be?

    Thanks to all who responded.

So, I just had to burn the. ISO with the compatibility of the UEFI.
Secure boot was already off for me, so it was fairly easy to start.
    Now, my windows is running!

    Hello

I recommend you check the BIOS settings.
If you want to install another system or want to boot from an external device, you will need to make some changes to the BIOS setting.
In most cases secure boot must be disabled and you must pass the UEFI MSC mode.

    Your comments would be appreciated.

By the way: this seems to be a Toshiba laptop series we. In this case I recommend you check out the Toshiba forum we: http://forums.toshiba.com/

If the USB device is present when you turn it on and is bootable, it is possible to change the boot priority order.  The device must be bootable however.  I use Sandisk Cruiser readers to ADAPT because they don't stick as to be broken and are easily hidden if hooked up to the rear of the machine.

  • How do I boot ESXi from a Flash drive

Hello, I have a LENOVO G570 and want to boot ESXi from a flash drive.

Question-if I boot from a flash drive, ESXi install on my hard drive?  I don't want that it installed on my drive hard because I have Windows 7 installed on LENOVO G570.

Without taking into account the fact that your hardware is not supported to run ESXi in native mode, you might be able to install ESXi on a USB key. However, the VMFS data store (where is stored the VM) must be on the hard drive (no USB device is taken in charge).

If you want to try ESXi, you can be better egg to run as a virtual machine using VMware Workstation. That's how many of us do this to test and practice.

  • x 61 does not start from usb flash drive

I don't know that I did several times before, but for some reason any my x 61 does not allow me to boot to a usb flash drive, I use normally to install the operating system.

Any suggestions what might be wrong and what I could do about it?

I should mention that USB is enabled in the BIOS and usb flash drive install works on other computers.

Update seems to be an incompatibility with wintoflash, I used the Microsoft DVD/USB tool and it starts the flash player and finished the installation. Strangely the wintoflash installation worked fine in a HP dv3000.

    Consider this resolved.

Wow I never saw your post until that earlier.

Situation is resolved in the first post

  • CL10-B-100 satellite - cannot boot from USB Live of Linux

I just bought a Satellite CL10-B-100 (PSKVEE - 00300CG 6) with only 8.1 Windows preinstalled. I need to boot from a linux live usb - without success now. No MSC instead of UEFI option available in BIOS. Secure boot disabled, USB set as first boot priority option. The latest version of the BIOS, I found online is the same as on the computer - 1.00

Any suggestions on how to start from USB Linux?

    Good day

    C.

    Hello

Most modern distributions should be able to start using the UEFI.
However, you forgot to mention what distro you are using.

I assume that your pressing F12 at startup to get the start menu, verify that your key is recognized and select to start him?
Which means that it fails? No not at all, start it begins to start but fall into problems... ?

    Please clarify the situation.

    Hello

I am a first user of this forum
It is a problem with my computer and don't know how to fix it.

My computer is a L50 A 1FK Satellite with Windows pre installed 8.1.

I'm not impressed with new Windows10 and I'm back on Windows 8.1.

What to do when I start to install a version of Linux Mint meadow look.
It is impractical to restart the computer to. Al dough BIOS is changed by marketing, that to look for start-ups to the USB. It does not work. If I try the same thing is happening with a live CD or DVD.
How can I make sure that there re-boot on the USB.

    As in advance,
    Rob (Wildspoor.nl)

    Hello

In order to boot from external sources (CD or USB port - flash memory stick), you need to disable startup secure in the BIOS.

There is also a startup mode option (UEFI).
In case the new (Linux) system would not support UEFI mode, you must change this mode of CSM.

Are you trying to use USB bootable recovery media that you created?
Try to set the BIOS to the default settings, restart the machine and press F12 at startup.
Peripheral USB appears here as boot device?

When I do this on my computer (USB SanDisK) I can see entry SanDisk under USB option.
What it looks like on your machine?

  • Satellite A300 - Boot from USB Flash Drive

Is it possible to make my laptop boot USB flash drive?
I checked the BIOS settings, but could not find anything that allows the boot from USB.

    > So after 40 hours there is no one who can answer this question 'complex'... strange forum.
Hay buddy, you have good sense of humor ;)
Do you really believe that someone to sit here and wait for your non-complex question? ;)
Anyway, this issue is so simple and you don't need to ask someone here. If you do not find option bootable BIOS to set USB peripheral device for me is logical that this will not work.
    Please check the BIOS settings.
