The previous computer's internal drive does not appear on the current computer

I have an old hard drive of my days of windows XP.  I plugged on my current computer about a year ago and I was able to access the drive.  Recently, I reformatted my C drive, and I am more able to access the external drive now from a previous computer.  Nothing happens at all.  It does not appear in the computer file.

The first step you should take is to enter the BIOS Setup program and check if the disk is visible there.

    Hello

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue

  • Satellite A100: CD/DVD drive does not appear in the Manager of peripherals and BIOS

The CD/DVD drive does not appear in the window manager and I can't incert CD
The BIOS displays "none" instead of "optical device".

This means that the CD device is dead?

    Hey Micky,

Unfortunately it's probably :-(. You can try to remove the optical drive and then reinsert it into Notepad, and then marketing and see if it is recognized as a new device.

Check also that it is not displayed in Device Manager and if it is remove before trying the above.

  • Toshiba Stor.E Canvio HARD drive does not appear

    Hello

I got a Toshiba Stor.E Canvio for about 2 years without problems

By using the external drive recently and the USB cable is removed accidentally. After attempting to connect the USB on my Mac again once the external HARD drive does not appear in the Finder.

Passing through the disk utility, the hard drive is visible, but I am unable to check or repair the disk.

    The message I get is

"Peut-t disk utility repair this disk. "Save as many files as possible, reformat the drive and restore your backed up files.

The HARD drive itself is turned on, the light is on... but I'm stuck now

  • DVD drive does not appear on the screen of the reader 'computer '.

I lost access to the DVD drive. It does not appear on the screen of the reader 'computer '.
It starts with a disc inserted, but stops after about 20 seconds without opening all files.
The DVD comes on when it starts first and then turns off after a few seconds.
I have re-installed the driver of Toshiba and still no access.

I think it all started when I installed a new WD 1 TB external hard drive which its virtual CD drive on the E: drive, which was used by the installation DVD player. I moved the external hard drive G: and drive E: letter has left vacant, but still does not work.

Any ideas how I can fix this problem? It would be greatly appreciated.

Optical disc drive is listed correctly in the Device Manager?

  • computer accepts the flash drive, but the drive does not appear anywhere.

I can insert a flash drive and the computer accepts it, but the reader does not anywhere - I see the drive C, drive D, but not E, F or anything would be the flash player. Him 'delete... '. Safely"icon acknowledges the drive is there, but I can't copy a file to it, because it does not appear on the list of drives.

I had a similar problem and it was hardware related.  There was too many USB devices on my drawing power USB bus, even if I had 6 USB ports on the motherboard.  I bought a 7 port Belkin powered hub to solve the problem.  A device such as a flash drive would connection beep and come in the widget of material safely remove, but the drive letter would never appear.

Unplug all usb devices, turn off the system and pull on the power cord.  Remove the battery if a laptop.  Wait a minute or two to make sure that all power had evacuated and then turn it on and see if the flash player works just in itself.

I assume that you checked the fash drive and it's OK.

  • My external hard drive will appear in my Computer. But when I try to send files (right click) in the "send to", the drive does not appear.

I can access the drive and it's files already on it. But I am unable to send files, more. There are a lot of remaining space on the external hard drive. And I use Windows Vista if it gives more clues to the problem. I can't seem to find the answer to this. Large number of people to open disk management and change the assigned letter. But that's only if (if it appears) if the player initially does not appear under my Computer.Again, i have no problem to access this drive and its contents once it is plugged into my laptop. It just does not recognize under the column "send to." It allows. That's how I was able to get what is on there now on it first.

Hope you understand. I'm not called a techie.

Help, please. Much appreciate any one can give me.

    Hello

You can try the following steps and check if it helps:

    Method 1:

    a. open a Windows Explorer window.

    > Browse to your folder system hidden below.

    C:\Users\(user-name)\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\SendToB)

    OR

    b. open the Start Menu, and then type shell: sendto in the search box and press ENTER.

    c. Add or remove any drive, folder, or shortcut app like you who uses the option open with to send it to the window below.

NOTE: for example: Notepad, paint, Photo Gallery, dvd player, any folder, etc. For a reader, right-click on the drive in the computer, then click on create a shortcut placed on the desktop before you move the shortcut here.

    Hello

I have a HDTB110AK3BA - Toshiba 1 TB Canvio Plus Portable Hard Drive for storage 3.0 Basics and the computer will allow it to connect, but it does not appear in my computer / pc is in Device Manager thought but not my pc

Please help and Windows 7 or windows 8.1 PC do the same thing.

    Hello

I found the description of the product of this external HARD disk:

    Product features:
    • USB 3.0 - powered portable add-on storage.
    • Voltage of bus capable USB, no need for AC adapter.
    • Easy to use with no software to install.
    • Adapts to large digital files with spacious storage capacity.
    • Protect your drive (internal shock sensor and ramp loading technology).

    Specifications
    • Capacity: 1.0 TB
    • Interface: USB 3.0
    • Transfer rate: up to 5 Gb/s
    • Speed: 5 400 rpm
    • Average access time: 12ms
    • Cache buffer: 8 MB

It is a HARD USB 3.0 drive. No doubt the HARD drive is not recognized correctly in windows exploerer due to the low power.
The USB 2.0 port common feeds only 500mA. The USB 3.0 device must be able to 900mA.
Therefore, it would be advisable to connect this 2 ports USB 2.0 HARD drive with a USB Y cable
