  I often import InDesign files into other InDesign files and find it very useful for my workflow. Often it is a file that acts like a piece of the library that is used in the other files and I love being able to just change it and automatically update the other files.

  However I just came up with a work that is CMYK + spot and spot colors are not preserved import - they seem to import as CMYK. Can I export a PDF file and do it this way, but I prefer to skip the intermediate step.

  Any advice?

  Have you checked? It really looks like that process tasks is enabled in the file of reception, but I expect that to affect the PDF as well.

  I tested on CS6 and it works correctly, but I have on thei smachine CC, and no time this morning to start it, then maybe someone else will test for you to see if they get the same results.

  I would like to appeal/manipulate an element that is not in the same file as signal qml.  So for example if I have:

  I will have questions that can drag one file to the other to combine a. Adobe Reader XI is not allowing me to do and I need to know how to solve this problem. It will create only a single document so much easier on us, against having 10 different files for a single item that must be filled. In the image below, I need the file on the right to be included in the file on the left, so that means it will be Page 2 of the document on the left. I'm supposed to be able to just drag it to the left, but it's not allowing me.

  

  You can combine PDFs with Adobe Acrobat, not Adobe Reader.

  You can open the two files of Muse at the same time, copy the contents of a page on a site, then paste it into a new page on the other site. You will have to redo some of the page style.

  However, you can move pages of one InDesign file to another.

  You don't mention what version of InDesign, you're using.

  CS4, open your source and your documents of desitination.

  With your open source document, go to the side of the page, select move Pages in the Panel menu and set ranging from the page to move, whiich document, and what place in the order of the pages.

  You can do this with master pages as well. If your documents use the Master pages of the same name, but have different content, it would be in your best interest to rename them before moving the pages. Otherwise, be prepared to make changes after you add pages.

  I know that you can drag an indesign file from the finder into an indesign document (or place one indesign file into another indesign file). In this way, when you update the original file the placed image will update in your new document.

  My problem is that if I go through this process, I can't just place the first page of a document - it won't allow not place me a spread. I have no choice to ask me what pages I would like to place. It falls just on page 1 every time.

  Is there a way around this problem? It seems strage to me that they understand this function, but only to allow you to place the first page of a document - I must be missing something surely?

  Drag-and-drop is not the best way to add images (those of plains, or a document, PDF or INDD docs)...

  Better is to use the place command - it comes with a handy "show Import Options' button. Alternatively, you can hold the SHIFT key and select 'OK '. This enables / disables the 'Options of Import Show', so you can leave it off (you who want generally).

  The Options of Import Show opens a dialog box where you can select not only what page (or pages!) to import, but also allows to change the frame by default - bounding box, bleeding, etc.

• How to maintain spreads after the moving pages from one file to the other?

  I'm bringing together several chapters of books into one Indesign file, by clicking on the thumbnails in the Pages panel and selecting 'move Pages... "in the context menu.

  The problem I have is that I can't keep the flow of the page between the chapters on the destination file, resulting in a spread broken between chapters when exporting to PDF format. Here is a screenshot to illustrate the problem, seen here between 18 and 19 pages:

  

  I tried to turn on and turn off the following options on the source and destination documents but nothing changes:

  -To spread selected to Shuffle

  -Allow to the Pages of the Document for Shuffle

  I also deleted all sections of the destination document (as you can see on the screenshot, page 19 doesn't have the little black arrow that indicates a new section), with no chance either.

  I also tried dragging the thumbnails manually but nothing helped. I just can't understand how to keep the spreads between chapters together page.

  Can someone help me with this?

  In your turned scewwn, pages 14-18 are configured to not mix (you can tell by the [] aroound the numbers). Set the Shuffle and all should be well.

  It is not possible to open InDesign files on an iPad with any application.

  All the Cloud Creative app allows you to view thumbnails of files. You cannot change them.

  The Adobe Comp CC application allow you to create a preliminary page for an InDesign file that you can open in InDesign. It is not a publisher of InDesign files.

  Hi Mike,.

  While the implementation of the links, if you choose to open the file in a new window then you will not experience this issue, then you can simply switch to the file view and previous bookmark will remain as it is.

  You can create cross-references to anchor points and paragraphs. If you need create an anchor text in new.indd, then use as the target of the cross reference:

  Hi, I have an InDesign file with about 14 pages, and I often need to export different PDF files, being selective with the pages that I don't understand. For example, I can make a PDF of pages 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10. It of pretty easy, but when I open the PDF file in Acrobat or Reader, this program continues to consider these pages to be numbers 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10.

  Let me note that there is no page number visible on the pages themselves, and I don't want there to be. It's just at the top of the screen, in Adobe Reader, he said '8' in the box beside where it says 4/5. And also under thumbnails I scroll the document.

  Of course, there are only 5 pages and they are the ones I want, but I want Acrobat Reader to consider what are essentially pages 1-5, so that the person that reads the file does not know I jumped a bunch of pages of the original file. I think it looks unprofessional to be reading a file and see that you went from page 6 to page 8. It is obvious that the designer has forgotten something.

  Once again, because I know it's a bit confusing: this isn't a problem of automatic page number. I don't want the display of page numbers on the pages themselves.

  You can also access this feature of Acrobat by using the advanced > Document Processing > number of pages.

  You can drag individual; or just select and drag as a group by holding down the Option key for you key keep on #1 Drive until you are sure that they all copied over correctly to Drive #2...  Or you can select all/copy/paste.    Do not erase the files from the first drive until you are certain that they all copied properly.
