Pain of XY graph

I took this code in an example.  I hooked my two sources of data, and that's what I have.  What now?  The example uses dynamic data SOURCES.  What is the question?

Wow, should have taken that!

  • Precise timestamp on the graph of the band with scrolling

    I have a user interface with a set of synchronized graphics that operate in mode scrolling stripchart.  The elevator of the x-axis is visible on one of the cards, and the operator has the ability to take a break from the update of this table (essentially locking the entrance to the chart) and scrolling in a bit of history.  The width of the graph is about one minute of data, the number of points has been set to allow about an hour to scroll of history.  Other maps which are synchronized with the main chart have the x-axis property nodes attached, so that they follow the scrolling of the main graphic.

    Everything works fine with the current configuration, except for one small detail: the timestamps.  I put date and time stamping visible on the x-axis of the main graphic, so that operators know exactly when any aberration in the data actually took place.  I have seen a few entries in how add real timestamp, but none of them seemed to work properly.  They work very well on a standard sight, but fail miserably once the scrolling action is activated, so I have to do something wrong.

    Any suggestions on the best way to get this accomplished timestamp?  It's absolutely crazy to me how much pain is to put a timestamp to the real real world in a graphic...  As someone who constantly defends LabVIEW against colleagues who claim that it is "too difficult" to use it, it's kind of embarrassing when a thing so simple becomes so complicated in LabVIEW!

    The short answer is that this is impossible with a graphic if you add the requirement to be able to take a break. The reason is simple - a chart stores data on its own, but it saves all the values of X - you give only values Y and for the X values he simply uses the index of the value and the most you can do is set a t0 and delta t for the X scale. This works normally, but does not work when you stop feeding data to the chart, because the value of X is not stored. I heard someone say once a waveform graph does not allow this, but I've never looked into it and I'm not sure that's true.

    What you can do is use a graphic instead of a chart - in a graph, you provide values X and Y for each point, so you can have absolute time for the x-axis values. The key point is that, to a chart, you must provide all the data to draw, you must maintain a circular buffer of the data yourself. You can do this by using a queue with loss, when you preview the queue to get the data, but there are also some examples online, as well as in the finder of the example, if you search for 'XY Chart'.

  • How to dynamically add a plot to a graph of mixed signals

    I have a graph of mixed signals where I'm plotting a signal from a time axis. I'm trying to dynamically add a second plot to this graph against the same time axis (with a different scale of Y), but when I built a 2D array and try to connect in the graph (using a local variable) I get an error of size mismatch. I know for sure I did in the past (cable tables with different sizes for a same MSG) with no problems but, today, for some reason any I can't solve this problem.

    Am I missing something?

    Yes, you're probably writing a table 1 d somewhere that is causing to accept only 1 d. To address your problem above, just put a table node build in whenever you have a 1 d table and it will be just a 2D array with a single line of data.

    To add a field to your current locations, your screenshot above should work once the plot knows that he has to accept the 2D tables.

    Reading from a local variable, change something and then write about it once again can lead to a lot of issues down the line. Race conditions are a pain in the butt, so get rid of that sort of thing is good to do from the start. I didn't know the rest of your code, so I don't know how you treat it, but just keep in mind that you add to your software.

  • Waveform graph lose history

    Hello to you all, useful forum fans!  :-)

    I implements an array of tape showing the values of several parameters in real time, using a waveform graph, but during the race he keeps resetting of the history of the card at irregular intervals.  Unfortunately, because it is for my work, I can't post the code.  I'll do my best to describe the problem and the installation program, however.

    I have a data acquisition loop to read the values in real-time in a table of the floats and stores it in a global variable functional memory data buffer that contains a table 2D of floats, a 'page' of floats by time interval.  This forum works at 50 Hz through the expectation of millisecond Schedule VI.

    I then a chart update the loop running at 10 Hz via forward schedule VI.  This loop reads the data of all samples buffer VI he has accumulated (usually 5, but sometimes 4 or 6) and converts it to an array of waveforms through the VI of waveform build by taking each column of data and by assigning to it, definition dt to 0.02 (50 Hz), and parameter t0 to time less dt current multiplied by the number of samples in the table.  The terminal waveform graph is then set to this table of waveforms.

    Most of the time that it works well, with the new values added the previous values to create a smooth graph of multiple plots with the correct values are displayed.  However, sporadically the chart Flash empty and begin to fill again from scratch.  I can tell is just jump in time (the axis of abscissa) because I can move the axis scroll bar and there is no other data to scroll.

    I in addition to these two loop loops a GUI-structure of the event and a task of State machine loop.  However, I have excluded these two loops ownership history of the graph through inspection and breakpoints.  This is why I can only think that there are conditions or the type of data which, once introduced in terminal results of the graph by adding DO NOT present data as usual.  Empty array is not the answer; I tested with a separate simple test VI, and therefore in the chart, keeping the currently displayed data but do not update new data.

    I would appreciate any idea what any of you have as to the possible causes of this behavior.  I apologize again for not being able to view the actual code, although I can work to establish a similar setup with the data buffer, etc. in a separate VI and after that.  Also, I would like to know if you want me to describe the other logic, settings, or the circumstances for you.

    Thank you very much for your help!

    -Joe

    Whenever I've seen this problem when you use a waveform he chart endded up being a problem with;

    (1) the number of parcels has changed.

    (2) the names of the plot has changed (WF attribute).

    (3) time info Goffy where t0 and dt were inconsistent with what was already posted (new data point a t0 that is earlier than what is already plotted this plot)

    It's a pain to figure out the first time.

Now, I have so I assigned to whom, but have not had my wrist hurt like this over the years. I went to my other wrist and had the same problem.  I decided to store the watch for a few weeks and my wrist has been hurt, and when I tried the same new problem of watch.  Needless to say, I'm really disappointed as I really like the watch.  Any suggestions as to why this is happening or how to stop it?

    Hello

    If you feel irritation or an unpleasant feeling on the skin around or under your watch, Apple recommends that you remove your watch and see a doctor / physician before wearing again.

    Discomfort or skin reactions may be the result of various causes, including:

    • Allergies (such as nickel);
    • Prolonged exposure to irritants (e.g., SOAP or the sweat);
    • Environmental factors;
    • Wear the tape too tight or too loose.

  • Of a complete log of Information can I find myself with several graphs of selected information

    I received a great response here before, here's something that I'm not sure is possible... but maybe you know.

    Current version of numbers (3.6.1)

    So, I create a log of the different courses.  Here is a simplified version of what I do:

    The idea is so that I will have separate sheets for each of the classes, where I will have the analysis of numbers.  For example:

    What I would like to have on this page is a graph being each class, day by day, showing the presence so that I can follow increases or decreases trends, from the newspaper on the first sheet.

    I thought I'd try to find a way to have a referenced version (Alias) of the main newspaper on this sheet, which I can then do a filter before you apply a graphic, or perhaps a function which will only list info in a new table which matches certain information (such as the title of "Workshop").

    I can be looking for a function that does not exist, but if there is anywhere I could get a clear answer on this subject, I figure that it would be here.  Thanks for any advice you can give.

    Kevin Cunningham wrote:

    Numbers (and other spreadsheets) are good to extract summaries of data and plot summary.  Here's a way, using SUMIFS.

    The formula in B2, filled to the bottom of the column:

    = SUMIFS(log::E,log::$B,$a2,log::$C,$A$1)

    The formula in C2, filled to the bottom of the column:

    = IFERROR (SUMIFS(log::F,log::$B,$a2,log::$C,$A$1) "/ B2," "")

    The SIERREUR function tells number of leave the empty cell if there is an error because attendance is 0.

    The graph is 2D 2 axes in the case where you want to do something similar.

    Once you have the summary table and table of work, then you can 'clone' them by copy - paste other sheets and put another name of the workshop in cell A1.

  • First HP: Lack of Sections of first graph with steep slopes on HP

    I saw somewhere an old post on the Internet where a user was having difficulty to see the graph of y = x ^ 4 (x-2)(x-6) using a "Decimal point" display window and the "Evolutionary" method in the application of the function. The chart has not demonstrated the branch of the chart with the x origin of (6, 0). The response at the time was to use a different window or switch to advanced graphics application. I don't like either of these options, because much cheaper calculators have not this problem.

    With a little experimenting, I found that the calculator will be graphic curves where the absolute value of the slope (derivative) is less than about 375 * (Ymaximum - Yminimum) / (Xmaximim - Xminimum) where the minimum and maximum levels refer to the values specified in the configuration of the land. When the curve is steeper than this amount, the curve has holes and gaps until this value exceeds of approximately 1500 *(Ymaximum-Yminimum) / (Xmaximim - Xminimum). At this higher value, the curve is usually not in graphic form at all. These expressions are based on the study of graphs of the polynomial given above, y = 1 / x and y = e ^ x for different values of configuration of land.

    I realize with the option of touch screen on the first HP for the graphics window resizing, calculator, developers should be a little more sophisticated in how to get the calculator determine the graph. The current 'Adaptive' method is too risky for me to use unless I know a little on the chart. And the graphic progress is too slow. HP working on another option or is there maybe a setting on the computer I do not use its full potential?

    I've only used the calculator for a few days, but others who have used the calculator for many more are also puzzled. Thanks for any info. You can send our way.

    It is currently being considered. I can't say when / if there will be changes, however on the political basis of HP on 'future-looking '.

    However, graphical representation is one of those things that is "deceptively simple" because it seems to be pretty easy but is actually infinitely difficult. It has in fact been mathematically proven that you * don't * create an algorithm to be quite accurate for the same simple algebra. All graphics engines turn example is a very simple method that collapses quickly for something else then the case of some, it's well, a series of different behaviors for different types of problems in an attempt to account for different types of situations.

    The average general graphic has been done in the past was "moving pixel, evaluate and connect the dots." This works for simple things, but falls apart pretty quickly. Most of the calculators except the first on the market at the present time use some techniques of "smoothing" kind of hide the types of problems, this method can generate and generally work well for simple cases. While that hides things, the problem is he hiding things. :-) In more complicated cases, it actually makes things quite worse.

    In this simple case, most of the systems actually get the "right" result because they always assume that a big jump in values one line drawn to connect them. Result directly in other cases where it draws a vertical line to an asymtote that shouldn't be there. That's why things like Tan (x) go very often vertical asymtotes where there shouldn't be any. To try to avoid this, you need the code to make a special analysis in the case of start trying to filter false positives. It seems that in this case, it is bad filter and eliminate the line here.

    For another thing of pleasure, try the example simple "sin(e^x)" on all your systems. You will get some pretty crazy things and strange patterns here where there should not be any. The "speculative", the first will be closer, but only the grapher advanced with its graphics of interval it gets correct.

    So in short, yes - you put this to our attention. In long, graphic representation is in fact much more complicated then one might expect. :-)

  • First Graphing Calculator Identification of old Version of main material has

    Hello

    I tried to update the firmware to the latest version (2014-07-02 (6031)) on my graphing calculator of premium without success, the release_info.txt file which indicates (for 2014 03 31 (6030) firmware version):

    There is limited between that backward compatibility and earlier releases.

    First older hardware (revision A) supports this version, but the stream without thread-to-unit and data functionality is not supported on previous models. In the first screen HP help > revision of material appears with the software version information.

    How will I know if my calculator hardware number is A revision material?

    Is the version of CASE the number of material?

    Thank you very much

    H.

    Hello

    All primes of HP are upgraded to the version 6030 (note that 6031 is for PC emulator only). It's just that the material has a problem with certain communications.

    Firmware version prior to 6030 (5447 and older) do not show the hardware version in the display 'a way'.

    When you upgrade to 6030 the hardware version will appear on the display 'a way'.

    Alternatively, you can determine the version of the material from the model number (located on the back of the box she approached, the bar code):

    NW280AA is A revision material

    G8X92AA is the review material C

    In addition, the following process is recommended for the upgrade of the premium:

    Install the connection from the CD Kit.

    Once installed the connection, update the calculator.

    The following method is recommended:

    • Connect your HP Calculator first via the supplied USB cable (connected directly, do not use a USB hub)
    • Start the HP connectivity Kit
    • Click the tab of the calculator
    • Right click on the name of the first HP you want to update (it would be that you connected before starting this procedure)
    • Write down the version number, and then click the OK button
    • Click the Help Menu and select Check for update
    • Look for the pop-up box to update, check the version number that is newer than the one you want to update.
    • Then click on the download button
    • That's it, you will see the update being loaded and installed on your calculator screen. Don't click too quickly out of the HP Connectivity Kit, wait a minute or two after the completion.
    • In addition, there are a step in the connectivity Kit where it is advisable to back up the version that you had before the procedure, just in case. This way, you have a way to cover again.

    Kind regards.
