Palm Z22 calendar disappeared

I have made a backup of my office to my Z22 Pam, added some stuff in my calendar on my desk & then a few hours later, everything, but recurring events have disappeared from my office.  My contacts, tasks, SplashShopper, etc are all very well.

I tried import route that has been proposed in other posts, but it only added a few elements of each of my categories.  I've seen posts for different products of Pam, but nothing to specifically for this issue w. a Z22.

Ideas?

And WHY is it happening?

Thank you!

You can recover data from your user folder as long as you only Sync once with the PC when you discovered the missing data. When synchronize you with the PC there are files created for each category of PIM in your user folder. For example; datebook.dat or appointment (according to the version of Palm Desktop) and datebook.bak. 6.2 file names are .mdb and mdb.bak. 6.2, the files are in the folder of user name in PalmOSdesktop in my documents.

Make sure Palm desktop is closed when you rename files.

The files are named .dat and .bak. When you synchronize, the current data is stored in. dat. The next time that you synchronize the data in the .dat file is copied to the .bak file. You can rename the .dat to .old. then rename the .bak to dat. If the data in the .bak file is intact, it will now be in palm desktop when you reopen Palm desktop. I have included a link to show you how to find the userfolder on the PC.

http://www.Palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?id=26674

Here's another link about the loss of data;

http://www.Palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?id=39503

The best way to backup your data is to use the export function in Palm Desktop. Create a new folder on the desktop named Palm Desktop Backup data. Then, select the category that you want to export. You will get a window asking you where you want to save the file, save it in the folder created on the desktop. There is a button that allows you to select the record currently selected, or all, select all. If you do not select all, only the highlighted record is exported. You will need to name the file for export then I suggest the name of the category, for example: calendar (with the current date). Do this for all the essential data in each category. With the data exported to the folder on the desktop of the computer, you can save this data to a flash drive, external hard drive or a CD - RW. With this method, you will have your data in a separate place than Palm desktop and the device. If 'Lose you' data again, you can import the data back into palm desktop.

Make sure that when you make changes in palm desktop or the device to export data to the folder created for the backup.

Here is a link for other options for backing up your data;

If you use Palm desktop 6.2, reported losses of data. This can happen if you let Palm open desktop and PC makes an update, the latches upward or you stop the PC with Palm desktop. With this version, it is better to close if you do not use.

I suggest you use Palm desktop 4.1.4e. There has not been reported with this version of data loss problems.

If you can recover your data in the current Palm desktop, sync to the current Z22. We can then 'clean' uninstall Palm desktop and install 4.1.4e.

What version of Palm desktop currently installed? Go to help - about Palm desktop to find the version number. I can provide the instructions to uninstall for your version.

  • Move the data from Palm Z22 for palm M125

My Palm Z22 batteries do not hold a charge.  I recently bought a Palm M125, but have been unable to transfer data from the Z22, the M125.  My op system is Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit Edition processor.  Is it possible to move the data?

If the Z22 still works, the best way to transfer your data is for her beam to the M125.  At least, for the PIM of Palm of basic data (e.g., calendar, Contacts, memos, to-(tasks)).   On the Z22 in calendar, switch to the display of the day (not the order of the day).  In the menu, select the category of beam, choose the date range and select all from the drop-down list category.  Make sure that receiving IR is selected in the receiving device.  Align them face to face on one foot out and tap the beam.

In Contacts, select the category in the upper right, then open the Menu and select the category of beam.  Same process for tasks and memos.

Data and third-party applications might not let u their beam.   In addition, you will a newer device a lot older with an older operating system that may not work new apps.  So, after you transfer your PIM data, try beaming your third-party apps at a time to see if they run again.  The Z22 Launcher screen (at home), open the Menu, and then select the beam.  Highlight apps one at a time and try to beam at the M125.  My guess is that apps like Documents To Go might not even run, if they let u beam, because they were written for the newer versions of Palm OS than what works the M125.

There is also an upgrade process where you can do this thru Palm Desktop when you switch devices.   But again because once you go towards the back to an older device, there are some compatibility issues with the applications, databases and files of the system, not to mention the questions according to what version you use Palm Desktop.

Let us know if ensoupler works, or if you encounter any problems, in this case, we can go to the ugrade process.  Also, let us know what version of Palm Desktop you will synchronize with.

  • I can't synchronize my Palm Z22 to my Z22 Office data.

Suddenly, I can't synchronize Palm desktop with my Palm data. The model is Palm Z22. Windows operating system is Windows Vista. The newspaper appears as the last successful synchronization from November 30. Since that day, I still get the message: the connection between your device and the desktop could not be established. Please check your configuration and try again.

    Help, please!

Click home, Pref., Date & time. Then, you can set the date and time to the current date and time so that your calendar information will be updated.

I hope this has been helpful!

I have exactly the problem you have described on my Centro.  Looking through the other posts, I found a suggestion to install a program on your handheld called dbfixit.  It's free on cnet.  When you run it, it will not correct the errors (at least the free version won't), but it will tell you what are the mistakes.  If you look at the errors, it will give the date of the registration.  I had a few old calendar entries that had been corrupted.  I deleted them and then the sync works perfectly.  I hope this helps.

  • My calendar disappeared; How can I get that back?

This morning when I opened outlook, my calendar disappeared.
I am running Windows XP with 31.1.2 Thunderbird and Lightning (active) 3.3.1.
Calendar is now grayed out under view.

The last important thing I did last night was to delete several messages and my folders compact.

I received many emails and added several calendar items since my last backup (4 days ago) and I'd rather not have to go back to that.

Why the calendar disappeared and how can I get it back?

Calendar under view selection is always grayed out unless you have the open calendar and you view the Calendar tab. You open the calendar under the events and tasks on the calendar. The shortcut is Ctrl + Shift + c.

  • Palm Z22 defining calculator

I have a Palm Z22 - he used to have (a former) calculator format - easy to use - it changed? by itself in a format with a lot of blue keys - it is more difficult to use - how to make the old one?

    [email protected]

Hello wlevinson51, welcome to the HP support community!

When the Calculator display, you can change the layout by clicking on the left button on the 5-way navigator.  By clicking on the common sense will change for other formats.

Another way to change the layout of calc is to tap the menu button to the row at the bottom of the screen, then choose "Options".

Now, you can select 'Basic Mode' to return to the format you had originally.

Note: there are a few other layouts calculator really cool here too!   :-)

I tried to do a soft reset. The same situation later. Anyone has any ideas please?

  • Can I use the CD that came with my Palm Z22 to install on my new computer Windows 8 2005?

I'm upgrading from a Dell XP machine on a computer Dell Windows 8.  My old Palm Z22 driver installation CD will work to load the software into my new Windows 8 machine; or do I need to download a new software specifically for Windows 8?

After losing almost three frustrating weekends, I finally got my Z22 to synchronize with Windows 8.  You never answered my first question [can I use the CD that came with my Palm Z22 to install on my new computer Windows 8 2005?], that would have eliminated a lot of uncertainty in my many attempts to synchronize with the download of version 6.2 has recommended you.  Fortunately, I wasn't the original CD with version 4.2, because 6.2 has toured with a bit more clear instructions and a new download of http://www.palmdr.com/windows-7-64-bit-usb-drivers

Thanks for your advice in any case.

As the Z22 Palm devices run PalmOS, not Windows.

@KenPH , we have no idea where you bought this game, but Google is your friend!

Try to search for "Backgammon for PalmOS" and see what comes!

  • Export from Palm Desktop calendar to .dba archive

I have data for agenda 2003 to date on my Palm Desktop v6.2.  I would like to archive everything before 01/01/14 by exporting the data in an archive *.dba and then delete the data from Palm Desktop.  The export dialog says that I can choose to archive the items I selected, but does not say how to choose.  I want to select a range of dates - more precisely, 1/1/03-12/31/13.  Someone knows how to do this?

The Export of Palm Desktop feature, you cannot selectively archive a specific range of dates of the calendar events.  There is a function of the Purge, but he will serve only to items older than a month, not a selectable date.

One thing you could do, which requires a pocket computer, is to use an application of Pocket called Agenda 6 jointly with a freeware SD card backup utility called NVBackup for more security.  NVBackup lets you back up the entire database because there is at all times on the handheld and allows you to make backup sets so much data that your SD card will hold (max size 1 GB, regular SD card).  And agenda 6 allows you to delete data from calendar before the date.  Then...

    • Export your entire calendar on your desktop.  It would not be limited at all before 01/01/14, but it would preserve everything.
    • Buy and install DateBook 6 of www.pimlicosoftware.com (it is not freeware).
    • Download and install NVBackup.  Run NVBackup on the handheld to create a full backup on a SD card.
    • Then use Schedule 6 to remove the calendar data before 01/01/14.
    • Change the calendar (or calendar) led in Palm Desktop to handheld overrides Desktop.
    • HotSync the handheld to the desktop calendar data.  Palm Desktop calendar data should show then only events for 01/01/14 forwards, but historical data would have been preserved in the file exported as well as on the SD card and you can restore it at any time.

    I hope this helps.
