  This method works well with shortcuts, so you can try it. Follow these steps to manually change the icon:

  The Situation:

  dj_paige has reason and normally, you must write the changes to the file this way xmp, but you need the CR2 files to do this. If you have already removed the CR2s in your catalog, your changes have been cleared, and there is no way to find them. Even if they have not been removed, the CR2s in should be a place where your copy of LR can have access to them - for example, your computer or a drive connected to your computer.

  The only way I found to do that once a file has been downloaded is to remove it and add it again through either from Finder on Mac or iCloud.com.
