Parts of Firefox 21.0 under Windows XP SP3 blackout curtains

I upgraded to v. 21.0 and I noticed that sometimes (more often recently) parts of the browser interface is just off. If I move the mouse to the blank parts, some of them reappear, but some will not. Refresh the browser (close and open again) sometimes work and eliminates white sometimes it doesn't. There seems to be a conflict with something on my OS with this version of the browser.

Any ideas?

Thank you

Trying to import from Explorer seems initially to work but no Favorites is imported or visbile, all settings is enabled and that several forums scanned trying to find a solution. Program has been re-installed without any improvement. Windows XP and Firefox 11.0 is perhaps a bad combination?

One possible cause is a problem with the places.sqlite file that stores the bookmarks and history.

  • Option tools/Windows Updates never return any update on my PC under Windows XP SP3

    Hello

I have a question to get an update to Internet Explorer 8 tools/Windows Update option.

My desktop with Windows XP Home PC, it crashed last week. I took it to a computer shop nearby for help. After that they have reinstalled Windows XP with SP3, I brought and installed other software, such as MS Office, Microsoft ForeFront Client Security.  However, when I tried to get the last Windows Update in the Tools menu of IE 8, it is not in the list, saying: "no priority update".  At first I thought that it would be because the computer shop had the last update as they claimed. However, after a few days without updating, I realize something was wrong because the other two XP machines home with Microsoft FrorFront Client on this subject are able to get the latest version of ForeFront security definition almost every day.  Also, it not there no update of Office, and two only in update in the list option.

The WindowsUpdata.log, I saw some errors like below.
WARNING: WinHttp: SendRequestUsingProxy failed for http://download.windowsupdate.com/v9/windowsupdate/a/selfupdate/WSUS3/x86/Other/wsus3setup.cab>. error 0x80072f78

I googled them and tried a few suggestions without luck, such as to stop the automatic update service, rename Windows 'SofwareDistribution' folder and restart the Automatic Update Services. Could I be missing?

Thanks in advance for your help,
    Michael

I use java script to the current titles of list on my website userfriendlypc.net as, "In The News". The site has always looked good under Firefox, IE, Safari, Opera and Google Chrome. Since migrating to Windows 7, Firefox, Firefox only makes the text of the link in this area as shit look after the first link. The text becomes a greenish color and the hovered link seems to lag makes really bad sound. This happens only in Firefox and only under Windows 7. I tested with a basic Firefox and XP installation under Windows 7. Any supplements or anything else has been added when it occurred on the test computer.

Looks like a problem with the font smoothing (ClearType) that is not configured correctly.

See http://www.microsoft.com/typography/ClearTypePowerToy.mspx Microsoft Typography - ClearType Tuner PowerToy

Windows 7 users should use the ClearType tuner in Control Panel under appearance and personalization to set their ClearType settings.

If so, it can help to look at the files minidump against accidents with a debugger.

Can you zip the minidump in the C:\Windows\Minidump folder files and (provide link) available via Windows Live SkyDrive or similar site?

The following link has information about the use of Windows Live SkyDrive:

If you have problems to compress the minidump files copy the minidump files to another location such as a folder on the desktop

In addition, you do not necessarily have compress the minidump files, you can download one at a time.

  • Windows XP SP3: There is an IP address conflict with another system on the network.

As mentioned, I am under Windows XP SP3.  Starting around June 14, 2011, I get this error message: "There is an IP address conflict with another system on the network."  I didn't any problem access the internet, which is weird considering all the forums I've read the user has had problems with this.

I followed the steps to solving this problem.  I checked the IP addresses on all devices connected to my network. none match the computer, I get this message.  I tried refreshing and renew my address this computer's IP, but that has not solved the problem.  I've updated my modem drivers; who has not solved.  I checked the settings on my router but nothing.  I have turned off all devices in the House connected to the network, unplugged both the modem and the router, plugged the modem back in (anticipated for a constant signal), then plugged the router and gives him the time, but I got the message again.  I ran scans anti-virus and anti-malware, but neither picked up something.

I am out of resources in this regard.  I guess that something might be wrong with the router, but that doesn't seem right.  I had no problems with the router as I bought it a year ago, and as I mentioned there are no connectivity issues (always as fast as I'm willing to pay my provider).  Two things have popped up in my mind that could possibly impact this: all about 14, there was a Windows update that has pushed down and the message began not to burst, until, after downloading (but I have not had this same problem on other computers that have received these updates) , and there was a very, very brief power surge (second meaning) in the House around the 16th which caused no (to my knowledge) do anything stop but not a hand a few clocks.  Thank for any help with this!

No. except if you must move the computer to another network or if you are not actually that responsible for the network.

As long as you are in charge of your network, you can configure your router to reserve an IP for your machine OR set up so that the DHCP range is, for example, all the IP addresses above to x.x.x.100 and you you give an IP address below that (say x.x.x.99).

In the first case, you let your computer configured as DHCP - your router just recognize it and gives this machine (and only this machine) reserved IP address.  For the latter, need to change the settings in Windows after changing your router so the DHCP range does not interfere with the static IP address range.  I would say that the latter is more likely to be a problem than the first, especially if there is a chance that this machine moves from one network to the other.

Personally, I use the booking method on my home network.  In this way my laptop, iPad, etc. all get a given IP address every time (an I know) and I have to set up the real device special somehow.

  • Windows XP SP3 with router Belkin 802.11n Play 600N HD: how to minimize the impact on performance wireless streaming?

Among the other computers in my house, I have an old Pentium 4 2 GHz Dell under Windows XP SP3.  I want to take all my music and put it on a (Belkin streaming) attached to the router hard drive, so I only store - and keep - it in one place, but can access to any of my computers - including this old Dell.

The Question Is: there will be any type of CPU and/or memory (although I'm more concerned by the CPU) overhead streaming music from my drive attached to the router to my Dell (and if so: is it possible to mitigate that)?

Specifically, I mean compared to run music directly to internal hard drive of the Dell: if any CPU or memory 'cost' for it in streaming on the network beyond what it already takes to play music.

If it makes a difference: I use Windows Media Player to play the music.

    Hi RDougShelton,

There will certainly be performance lag if played that music will be broadcast online in and the router will be bandwidth. For example, an impact on the speed of surfing.

When you play locally on the hard drive, the bandwidth will be unaffected, however, you can face sligh increase the CPU usage.

    Hope that info help.
