• CS4, script files appear not in the script Panel

  Never use scripts, but I had one that I downloaded for use for CS3.  Its been a while but I thought that I it falls right in the Scripts folder and it should appear in the actions panel in InDesign.  I just put this same script in my new CS4 scripts folder and his does not.  I restarted same ID to ensure, and it still does not work.  Is there something im forget?

  CS4 has a slightly different model.

  In the Scripts folder, there is a folder called "Scripts panel". Script view in the actions panel in InDesign, place your scripts in this folder inside.

  Sorry by the simplicity of the question, but it drives me crazy.

  More at work, I use hollow scripts one Panel script in illustrator (one of those small windows activated/deactivated through the menu ' window'), but now, at home, I can not find this Panel anywhere!

  BTW, I am aware of the file > Scripts menu but this isn't what I want.

• How to copy the name of the track in the layers panel to the center of the path object / in my file HAVE?  Is there a native function or some kinds of scripts that could be done?

  For example, I have a map of the United States.  Each State is a path and was named in the layers panel.  I want now to generate the name of the State in the layers panel is automatically center the text within each State/access path.  Each file will also be saved as an svg once completed.  I want to do this so that it saves me time from having to manually type the name of each State in the State.

• Script runs differently from the ESTK and Scripts panel

  Recently I talked to a problem with one of my scripts, which packets of identity papers: a guy wrote to me that when it run ESTK, the script works fine, but when it is run from the Scripts panel - creating empty folders, does nothing more but an error (there is an error handler in the script that records the errors in a text file) :

  Error: Invalid value for parameter "versionComments' event 'packageForPrint '. Expected String but received TRUE.

  It's strange, because I do not use this optional parameter in the script.

  BTW, on my computers, it works well, both ID and ESTK.

  Someone has experienced this problem? Any ideas on why this is happening?

  It probably has its version scriptPreferences value 5. To make your script foolproof, you probably set the scriptPreferences (and restore them when we have the gift of being nice...)

  BTW, kAppVersion = parseFloat (app.version) is a more readable form to get the version number...

  You might have accidentally pinned the Action tab of the script of the previous frame Panel.

  (1) open the Script Panel

  (2) look under the script box, you should see 2 tablets and between them an icon of pine (pine active script / close pin script)

• Access/working directory of the script path?

  Came across an interesting behaviour regarding the path of working within AE scripts directory.  When a range of the object / global, directories are compared to the DDT in the script itself.  However, within the scope of an eventHandler... in my case onClick function... directories are related/Volumes /.  In the code:

  File1 var = new File ("tmp");

  Alert (file1.fsName) is translated by "/ Applications/Adobe After Effects CS6/Scripts/ScriptUI Panels/tmp".

  button.onClick = function() {}

  File2 var = new File ("tmp");

  Alert (file2.fsName) is translated by "/ Volumes/tmp".

  I'm curious to know why the DDT changes in this situation.  I know I can get the pwd via. Filename $ and as the file name.  Is there another way to determine the DDT? A way to ensure that the DDT will be the directory of the script within the eventHandler?

  I can work around this problem, but want to understand as much as I can to see if there are other options and best practices.

• How to add channels to a channel table in the display panel in the script

  We try to put in place a review tool video using DIAdem, and we want to fill the results which have already been analysed in a Panel. This means populating a channel table in this Panel with the necessary data, but we cannot find a way to add strings to a table in the script. It seems that it should be very simple, but we can not find!

  Yes, it's simple. You prepare your VIEW with the channel table layout and use the add on the columns collection method.

  The command might look like this:

  VIEW. Sheets (1). Areas (1). DisplayObj.Columns.Add("myGroup/myChannel")

• Build the floating to my action scripts Panel shortcut menu

  Y at - there someone who can help me build a menu of Panel floating with icon buttons that would start the actions of shortcuts I recorded (see image below).

  

  The ideal would be if it could be updated with the new buttons that could be addressed in the new script records.

  You can use my script Panel ScriptPanel 2 film script for the scripts to run independent of target that could also be activated by ExtendScript ToolKit and file > Scripts menu as well!

  It has many complicated settings and can use several modes of Visual display, and Yes, you can use your own images to make your icons buttons, control of their size and the row/column orientation.

  You can even assign different images to different display modes, displaying an icon when the Panel is shown as buttons but a different icon when it is shown as list boxes. In addition, it can be reduced to a "mini-tab' to be moved out of the way easily.

  It is complicated and incomplete and based on ScriptUI and using BridgeTalk, but it's just a .jsx and here's even a screenshot of it for a preview!

  

• Difficult question, why the transformation Panel said 'no shape properties' when I select a path?

  I have a bone to pick with the AdobeIllustrator CC race Committee.  Before, I thought I knew everything there was to know about this Panel.  But now, I hit a road block, it seems that no one else in the internet faces.  My question has to do with how the traces of the pen are treated by the race Committee and (I guess) if they are recognized as "smart shapes.

  Here's the problem: normally when I create a path with the pen tool, I can immediately afterwards, select it and transform it using the Panel forms (especially the transformation Panel).  This means that I can choose the width of profiles, create dashed lines, etc.  However, something happened to illustrator between yesterday and today (I don't know what) and now when I create a path with the pen tool and select it, the transformation panel reads: "no available shape properties." Or something between these lines.

  I am currently using Adobe Illustrator CC as I already said, my operating system is Windows 10, and the only thing that has changed in the way that I use work is connect with the intuos pen tablet.  (Not plugged in now, I'll perform an exorcism on her.)

  That's all for now, I don't have screenshots, but once I get off work in 8 hours, I'd be happy to give them.

  If not more specific/bright suggestions appear, you can try the list:

  Sometimes, (some) things may fail or stop working for no apparent reason. When (other) possible reasons/remedies do not work, it is perhaps a kind corruption (temporary or permanent), or even preference settings which disturbs, which can be cured with something on the following list put in place in order to provide a catch-all solution for otherwise intractable cases. It starts with a few easy suggestions and safe) 1 and 2) for cases less serious and goes two ways 3) and 4) to reset the default preferences (easily but irreversibly and more laboriously but more completely and also reversible), then follows a list 5) various other possibilities, and it ends with a complete reinstallation 6). If no other suggestion doesn't work, or if no other suggestion appears, you can start on the list and decide how to go or who can apply.

  The following is a general list of things, try when

  (A) the question is not in a specific file,

  (B) you have a printer installed, connected and turned on if it's a physical printer (you can use Adobe PDF/Acrobat Distiller as a printer by default without the need to have a printer on, of course you will need to specify when you really need print on paper), and

  (C) It is not caused by problems with opening a file from external media (see below).

  You tried/made some of them already; 1 and 2) are easier for temporary strangenesses and 3) and 4) specifically may be corrupted/inconvenient preferences); ((5) is a list in itself and 6) is the last resort.

  If possible / there is, you must record a current work first, of course.

  (1) close Illy and open again.

  (2) restart the computer (you can make up at least 5 times);

  (3) close Illy and press Ctrl + Alt + Shift / Cmd + Option + shift during startup (easy, but irreversible);

  4) move the folder (follow the link with this name) with closed Illy (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible), for CS3 - CC you can find the file here:

  5 look through and try the relevant among the other options (click on the link with that name, item 7) is a list of the usual suspects among other applications which can disturb and confuse Illy, point 15) applies to the maybe CS5, CS6 and CC);

  6 (A) uninstall (check the box to delete the preferences, if any), B) run the cleanup tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC) and C) reinstall. It is important to use this step three way: otherwise, things may persist.

• A script that can send values to the transformation Panel?

  I wonder if this is possible in a javascript:

  An object is selected.

  Run the script

  B. fill in value in two fields B2: (RADIUS (or diameter) and a B3: number of objects)

  Hi Samantha, unfortunately there is no access to the effects or native dialog fields... it might be possible to hack sending keystrokes to illustrator, but this is a crazy idea.

  I'd be more inclined to select an object, and then run a script to distribute a number of Copies, a given circle round, as in your tutorial clock... This seems doable with javascript.

• Run Scripts of Actions of the Extension Panel

  Please forgive my lack of experience with scripting. I'm especially a writer of paste copy - cut.

  I have an extension Panel for my users in Photoshop that contains buttons to items of menu and tools. I have also two buttons that run scripts which have been fulfilled Actions scripts. What I've learned, it's that these buttons on the extension Panel do not work if the action of two scripts are not loaded in the action panel.

  What I would like to ask you is for scripts to run without having to the load in the Actions Panel. Is what I have in my file hotscript.jsx to one of the Actions below. How would this code does not require scripts to be loaded in the Actions Panel?

  I strongly support the advice of Chuck. Your ScriptingListener code should be equivalent to:

  in other words, you call Actions loaded into ActionSets - if they are not loaded, your calls fail.

  I strongly support the advice of Chuck. If you have done the actions, or in any case if you have stocks yourself, you could automatically convert it into javascript using script xbytor ActionToJavascript.jsx (find xtools download here on SourceForge). Then put the code and just call these functions, no need to have users install actions more (and by the way, your code will be a little more watertight).

• Pass information from the Panel to the Script?

  I wrote a JSX script to automatically generate forms of grid for me, then used 4 configurator to create a panel that triggers the script.

  It would be much more useful if I could have text fields so that users can specify how many grid lines, columns, etc., but I don't see any method to do that in the configurator.

  Is it possible to pass on a panel user input in a script?

  I would say that's not possible, but I'm not a big expert Configurator 4.

  If you need a simple GUI on CS6, I suggest to use a scripted dialog box. It is not difficult if you do not want stuff, to see this code snippet:

• Cannot find the Panel "analyze the content" to add the script reference for the analysis of speech

  Do a tutorial for first CC 2014 in the classroom in a book (p. 78) and can not find the context of analysis or the button panel for add a script reference.  It's totally not there for me.  This feature was stripped away?
