"Path too long" error during extraction solution zipped

When retrieving a zipped VB.Net 2008 solution, I get an error indicating "Path too long" and the inscription NationalInstruments.Common.Native.dll.deploy (see attachment). I have recently started getting as this error message and I don't want to just choose the option 'Ignore' because I don't know if I need this file or not. Any suggestions?

Tim

I rebooted the computer and the problem disappeared. But I'll try the longpathtool if the problem comes up again and I can not solve by restarting.

  • When you back up my files to a new hard drive, getting the error "destination path too long".

    Hello

Today I was backing up my files on a new hard drive that I bought a week ago, and during the copy, I received the message following 'destination path too long ".
And the file name is actually short "crouch" here is a snap of the image:

Original title: destination path too long?

The key factor is not the name of the file itself, but the total length of the file name and the path of the folder.

The help files for the application that you are using could tell you how long the total combination of the file-file may be [some more older can be limited to 255 characters, but I was not able to discover the current constraints].

  • Destination path too Long

I get the following dialog box 'Destination path' too long when you try to copy my photos from my Seagate FreeAgent Xtreme 2 TB portable hard drive.  I tried to move more than 450 GB of files (that are jpg, cr2 or psd file formats) and received the above message. Tried to go on a smaller subset of 200 GB but I got the same message. The dialog also contained the following text "You can shorten the file name and the tr again, or try a location with a shorter path".  This message truncates the copy process.

  • Path too Long for the Installation of the software

I am trying to install a version of the CAD software to one of my PCs employee.  When we run the Setup file, we get an error message too long file path.  The message says that the file path is 99 characters long, but the limit is 93.  This seems like a terribly low limit for a C: drive.

The path goes only in a folder as well.  Thus, its C:/Program Files/Autodesk / "name of file along here."

I understand long path problems when you go deep in several folders and the typical character limit is 254.  I do not understand why we are running in a limited issue when you have only a single deep folder on the C: drive and only have 99 total characters in the path.  Is this a problem of windows 8?  Or maybe a problem with the PC itself?  Is it possible to change the limit of characters on the C: drive since 93 is so short and also seems to be a random number?

    Justin

Your best bet is to contact the CAD developer, we would have no way of knowing how many levels deep the software installs.

  • Path too long to remove

I have a folder that contains subfolders that create a path that is too deep to remove...  It has a structure like: Pictures\Documents\My Pictures\Documents Documents\My... etc of the infinite that I see...  This is not the default My Documents or my pictures special folders in the profile but are located in a separate HARD disk area.

I've renamed 30 or if for just a\b\c\d\e\f... then I fail to rename folders that Explorer can see... When I try to delete the last folder in my opinion, it says the path is too long.

Anyone know of any free tool that allows you to remove this invalid structure.  I don't want to pay for anything, since it will be a single use and will probably never reuse the product...

I tried to map a network drive to a level about 30 deep...  I tried the subst command... Nothing works and I get the same error that the path is too long.

    Thank you

    Bryan

A ran chkdsk and had no errors at all...  I finally solved it with a utility called DelInvFile.   Analysis of the folder with this utility, revealed the 747 levels of subfolders.   He took care of all of them and deleted the whole tree in about 5 minutes...

    Thank you

    Bryan

  • SP2-0027: entry is too long - error on pl/sql procedure

We are on Oracle 11.2.0.2 on Solaris 10. I scream a procedure that errors with this error:

It's a unique procedure, but it takes too long entries in there. This giant procedure call - with some names have been changed - is as below - is there a way I can avoid this errro? I will be grateful for input on this subject.

  • In Event Viewer, is it possible to see Destination path too Long

I want to know if there is a way, in the event viewer, see the list of files whose names are too long.  I write down everyone who needs to be changed, but a log file that I could print would be much faster.  If I CUT and paste, then the long named files would remain, but it is a copy.  So, I must go back and find one by one.  Not having to write simply would make it faster.

  • Error during extraction of the vSphere Webclient 5.5 msi installer vCenter

Get quite desperate here... I try to self-study vSphere, based on a configuration of VMWare Workstation 9 version 5.5. All this on my laptop RAM 16 GB quadcore. And after two days of fighting, I can't even begin because a simple simple installation does not work!

The error that I'm stuck on whenever that occurs during the installation of the Web Client:

1152: error is C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local\Temp\{378E4D59-A095-46BC-BB1B-A1BCF7013AC5}\vSphere Webclient.msi in the temporary location

In fact, I notice everything first in the 'easy install' stops after successful installation of SSO and warns that I have to manually install the other components. When I do that with the Web Client, I can see the InstallShield Wizard check it out apparently with success, creating the subfolder randomness with an STD, some files of configuration and "VMWare vSphere Web Client.exe. A "decompression" begins, which is about 75%, then gives error.

-first time this happened on a Win2008 R2 VM I had installed from a template

-J' then tried on a freshly installed Win2012 RTM VM, same problem

-then tried on a Win2012 R2 RTM, here things end with another problem (mentioned in another forum, some missing file on 2012R2 and have to install manually LDS, but 2012R2 'not supported' so I'm not going to try this)

BUT! : when I start a manual installation of the Web Client on 2012 R2, the "1152 error extraction" does not happen, it passes 'unzip '! So I thought I'd be smart and just copy the folder uncompressed to the other server. Unfortunately, trying to launch the installation of these files you get a message that it only works when the VirtualCenter installation program Initializes the installation... It's to square 1 the vCenter Installer handles all the steps in a 'transaction' and I don't think you can say that you have prepared a subfolder with unzipped "VMWare vSphere Web Client.exe.

-Then, I thought since the decompression has worked on 2012 R2, but not on my 2012, it had to be some essential Windows which were published between 2012 GTR and 2012R2 update, which affected Windows Installer. So I downloaded more than 600 MB of updates on the 2012 RTM server, installed to get 100% updated (took a few hours).

    Result: no difference...

I tried other things: installation under local administrator (understand that the path of the temporary folder may have something to do), Safe Mode Setup (impossible since Windows install is not available), VM more memory of a madman 13 GB (compared to 4 GB), through 'run as administrator', race through "Troubleshoot compatibility", choose a different installation language in the drop-down list box when you start the installation...

I obviously also re-downloaded the iso file of 3.3 GB, but it has not made a difference. And I think that the decompression would also cause an error on 2012R2 then as well, if this part were corrupt.

I'm totally ideas now... Better, I tried to download and evaluate a different version perhaps? Hope someone has other suggestions.

    TIA

Hello and welcome to the communities.

May be wondering the obvious here, but you check checksums for this download to ensure that it was not corrupt?

  • I can't delete a folder: path too long

I have a deep folder structure and can not remove it.  Is there a tool that I could use?  I can't believe that Windows XP doesn't have a tool or a command to do this.

One more thing that might work is to use the program "Robocopy " (robust copy) of Microsoft.  This program will certainly deal with files that have paths exceed 255 characters, but it's basically a copy program.  I hope that you could turn into a removal program by specifying the switch "/ MOVE" (so that it deletes the source files after copying) and maybe see if you can move/copy the file into the bit bucket "ZERO:  If Robocopy does not appear on your system, you can get to withoutTechnical Resource Kit .

In addition, somewhere I think I read that you can specify long paths if you use the "\?". "------" syntax.  When you use it well, you must specify the name of full path from the drive letter, as in:
    «\\?\C:\Documents and Settings\User\...» »

  • During extraction of zip in XP files, some files display in a format not recognized?

Hello, I downloaded a few files mp3 audio from a Web site, and they were in zip format. Most of the albums was fine when I used extract all option that would create new folders with the audio files in mp3 format. However, it retrieves all the option used on some of the albums would produce files with the files in a format not recognized. It's strange because the files in the zip folder are the custom mp3 file but those extracted from this same exact issue was not mp3 but not counted. If the original is fine but the extract is not made me think of the windows zip extraction utility could not open some types of zip even if others on the same site have successfully. Have you any suggestions on any program I can use to solve this problem I already paid for them and can't re-download the original download was "successful." The support team of the company I bought thiese maybe not very tech savvy.
