Pavilion 1540n 1.5 TB hard drive update

I am trying to format WD 1.5 TB caviar black hard drive and it appears to hang at 73%.  Does anyone know if the version of the bios 3.1 has a size limit?  Y at - it a bios for the 3.1 update?

Hallelujah, problem solved and works beautifully.  Too bad HP cannot pull himself together and solve this problem for all others.

Thanks for all the input out there!

  • Pavilion zv5000 - IDE adapter for HARD drive?

I have a Pavilion zv5000 series portable whose hard drive died several years ago. My father sent him to a work friend, who understood that it was the HARD drive, and I guess that he threw the car with an adapter with it. I got an IDE drive, foolishly, assuming that the pins on the drive just fit into the connector on the laptop itself. After a lot of confusion as to why the player wouldn't be good, a research showed a card equipped with a regular at one end IDE connector and a connector similar to that on the laptop on the other. I ask if it is true that I need one, even if I do not otherwise so that it connects.

Also, nines are isolated from the main pins on the drive. The old connector Molex had also four pins. These are the power pins, and the adapter address these too? It doesn't seem to be any other connector on the laptop. Once again, I want to just confirm this and no I have to not just buy the wrong thing for this laptop.

Therefore the adapter that I'm looking for?

Yes, I used to own a zv5000 and I can confirm there was a plastic connector black who went on the IDE brass pins on the hard drive to allow the connection to the motherboard.

  • HP Pavilion G6: INTELLIGENT control of hard drive failure

Model: HP Pavilion Notebook PC g6

    PROD ID: LN220EA #ABV

    Warranty start date: 27/05/2011

    Smart Check: FAILURE

    FAILURE ID: 9C1G7F-5LK7KD-XD015G - 608L 03

    Hard drive 1

    Test drive: FAILURE

    What is my problem?

Whenever you get an error message with 24 characters alphanumeric numbers indicating that the hard drive needs to be replaced to solve the problem

Could be due to the Application or a driver conflict, virus issues, corruptions of files due to incompatible applications, improper stops, update failures due to conflicts, mounted sudden power sudden, so portable falls etc...

HP will offer a replacement HDD if the laptop warranty is Active, otherwise you can buy a SATA hard drive in a nearby retail store

Please make sure that you get at least equal as long as the original one in order to use recovery disks. If you need you can buy a bigger, but not smaller hard drive capacity. For example, if you have a 500 GB hard drive you can improve it to 750 GB hard drive, but not 320 GB hard drive

Please try the troubleshooting below indicated once the steps:
Step 01. Remove the battery and unplug the power adapter AC.
Step 02. Press and hold the power button for more than 30 seconds
Step 03. Plug the AC power adapter / (leave the battery for now)
Step 04. Press the power button and check if the unit is operating normally

If the steps listed above is not enough, then you can try reinstalling the hard disk on your laptop

If the problem persists again please contact HP if your HP laptop is under warranty, HP could replace the hard drive and provide recovery media to restore the operating system to factory after the replacement (if you have not yet created recovery disks/USB support)

Note: Back up all personal data on an external drive if possible. Otherwise, you can connect the HDD defective via SATA Adapter USB with another PC or a PC even after replacing the HARD drive & put in place of the operating system and try to copy / retrieve files.

  • DV6-6119wm: HP Pavilion dv6-6119wm - replace the hard drive with a hard drive from a laptop Gateway

OK (deep breath). I have a dilemma, and I hope that you all can help me.

First of all, the HP laptop in question is a dv6-6119wm QE069UA #ABA, Windows 7 Home Premium.

A month ago, it began overheating and then blue screened on me with a fan error. I ran it while I was getting this error, which was a mistake, because according to me, he has finally caused the hard drive failure after enforcement of reset factory several times. But I'm getting ahead.

I replaced the fan and the heatsink myself. Another factory reset. Downloaded and installed all the updates of windows. Ran great for like a week with the exception of the fault 1 hard disk when I ran the Start Up Test.

Then when I restarted yesterday... He's dead, so he is dead.  Apparently, the hard drive failed completely and comes only a black screen telling me it cannot start.

So, I have this other model of Gateway laptop, NV55C26u which has stopped charging. I had to put it away and don't worry. I got out the hard drive and tried HP successfully. ! Sorta.

It considers that the HP is a gateway and as a result, none of the drivers are there for all the good stuffs HP. It cannot connect to the internet and does not recognize the USB flash drive. (I had downloaded all the drivers on another laptop and put them on a pious flash drive I could convince the hard drive it's HP again). Another hard drive WILL work in the dv6, and I had no errors on startup it upward.

I have no recovery discs or store bought Windows 7, all came with the laptop preinstalled. But I don't have my key to the label.

Then what should I do? I'm not exactly tech savvy, I know just enough to be dangerous haha, but I tend to go glassy when things get too technical. I thought I could get something Microsoft to reinstall my Windows but I guess they closed this path down a few months ago.

    I have access to 2 other laptops, both HP. A QE304UA of Pavilion G7 #ABA with Windows 7 Home Premium and a HP 250 G2 Portable F7V84UT #ABAwith Windows 7 Professional.

So basically in order to encapsulate this novel to the top, which can do here to fix my dv6? How can I convince this other HDD HP rather than Gateway? I can create something from one of these other HP laptops? Download something somewhere? I don't want to have to buy Windows again. I love this phone and need her in my life as a game.

    Please help me

You must do a clean install of Windows on them. The hard drive has drivers for completely different material. Too bad that you did not have your drive to retrieve the value. It would restore the hard drive to HP with all the drivers/software installed. It would depend if the hard disk is at least the same capacity or larger than the original. Recovery discs are reluctant to a smaller capacity hard drive.

You can order recovery Medai for about $16:

  • HP pavilion dv7 4077cl need new hard drive

I need a new hard drive for my laptop HP pavilion dv7 4077cl entertainment.  The old man is a Toshiba MK6465gsx.  What would be compatible?  Maybe more now I have 640 GB of storage like most.  Can someone help me?

    Hello

Yes, the HARD drive become more fat and more (capacity), becomes also more small - actually thinner - (dimension) AND cheaper too. You can use more (once again - ability) HDD from reliable suppliers/manufacturers. 750 GB or 1 TB of a WD HARD drive would be a good start - please stay with the one who has more cache and fast (7200 rpm or more).

My suggestion: replace it with a SSD and put a larger HARD drive on the second span.

    Kind regards.

The hard drive is new and I did not not how its gives me this error!

In addition, this laptop does not seem to boot from a cd to format!

I just need to make the boot inherited from the bios, like that he started directly from the hard drive and does not need of any software pre installed HP to start.

I recently received messages when windows starts by saying that "the hard drive failure, is imminent. Check the disk with CrystalDiskInfo told me he had a problem with the reallocated sectors count & number of events of reallocation (with the values 1, 1, 36).

  • Re: Satellite A100-220 - 250 GB hard drive update

Bought the new 250 GB hard drive, but with it cant start System. The version of the BIOS is 1.80 I have to update so that it will support 250 GB? I think that's the problem because when I remove the hard drive from the system can start. Can you post the link to the download for a newer version of the BIOS if there is a previous hard drive was 40 GB?

    Thank you

    Hi andmk,

I doubt that your computer will start if you remove the HARD drive. If no HARD disk is installed the computer is not able to boot and start Windows because the disk HARD, the operating system is installed.

In any case, what exactly happens if you install the new HARD drive?
    Is it recognised in BIOS?
Can you do a recovery on the new HARD drive installation?

  • HP Pavilion g6 - 2073ca - 2 TB hard drive

I want to replace the hard drive in my hp Pavilion g6 (it no longer works). I would like to replace it with a 2 TB drive. Are there problems with the computer being able to manage this capability?

Your product manual don't say that.
    http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c03233548.PDF

Can't handle your g6 Pavilion > 1 TB of hard drive configuration.
If you try to install 2 TB, it can display the message while booting to format your drive.

In short, it is not possible.

  • Pavilion Media Edition a1640n - adding hard drives

I want to add a second hard drive of my Media Edition Pavilion a1640n.

I found the SATA ports, but I can't find a free plug in power cable.

The existing HD has 2 caps of small power inside. 1 is just a 2 orange wires.

    Any help?

You must upgrade the power supply to one with more capacity and connections to add a hard disk in the current configuration of your PC.

An alternative would be to delete the connections of power and data on the DVD player and use them for the additional disk. You really use the DVD player very often or is it just take place?

I could really justify not upgrade the PSU, in terms of expenditure, as the PC has very little residual value after eight years of use.

The PC is worth the upgrade when it may stop working at any time?

Eight years of use on a pc is actually quite extraordinary. Consider yourself lucky.

    Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

See Page 34. You just make sure that the disc is one of the ultra-thin (7 mm 9.5 mm thickness) models. Any player capacity of this physical size works perfectly. There is no limit on the capacity of the disc, only the thickness. If you put a 9.5 mm in there you will not be able to trace the base unit.

The Toshiba model on amazon.com which you connected is a 9.5 mm.

    I couldn't find a 7mm 1 TB drive, but here's a concert of 750:

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16822236552

I have not spent a lot of time to research so I'm not sure that a 1 TB 7mm drive is there or not.
