  I suggest that you try to go back to a previous restore point to: HP PC - use Microsoft System Restore (Windows, 10, 8).

• Photosmart Premium C309g - m Driver download problem with Windows 8.1

  Hi, can someone help.

  Trying to get my printer working on a new computer Windows 8.1. Have used 'HP printer install wizard for Windows' and tried download 5 times now without success.

  Once completed he States

  "The wizard has detected a problem with the software driver for the selected printer."

  Whenever I click next to install the complete softward it takes 15 minutes to download and produces the same message.

  Follow the steps below and let me know if this may resolve the issue:

  1 open the Mcafee Virus and Spyware Protection software you are interested in, click on calendar and perform analyses. Click analysis in real time, and then click stop. Never select and confirm by clicking the button turn off.
  2. open the dialog box run by clicking on the Windows key and the R key on your keyboard. Type %windir%, and then click OK.
  3. type hpoins*.dat in the search bar at top, if there is that no result rename the extention in old instead of dat. (e.g. hpoins1.old)
  4. type hpwins*.dat in the search bar at top, if there is that no result rename the extention in old instead of dat. (e.g. hpwins1.old)
  5. start the Run dialog box by clicking the Windows key and the R key on your keyboard. Type MSIEXEC /Unregister. in the Run dialog box and click OK.
  6. launch the Run dialog box by clicking the Windows key and the R key on your keyboard. Type MSIEXEC/REGSERVER in the Run dialog box and click OK.
  7 restart your PC
  8. run the installation file and check all difference.
  9. Once you have finished, remember to open McAfee and re-enable real-time scanning.

• PCI serial port driver download problems

  Our Clackamas Oregon model RR club has two laptops for Dell Optiplex 755 purchased used in a recycling shop. One who communicates with our layout, power supply via the serial port of NCE has stopped communicating and Windows Vista Device Manager indicates that the PCI serial port driver is missing and also the communication controller simple PCI and PCI bus controller drivers.   I used the wizard, HPPIW.exe, to select the latest software driver full features.  At the end of the download, 100%, he noted "the download has been cancelled.  This happens repeatedly.

  However, I now have the loaded 13 version.  I wonder what will happen when updating HP chooses to try to upgrade to version 14?

Which driver is what you are trying to update? have you tried to remove and install the driver in Safe Mode of Windows 8? If this isn't the case, I suggest you give it a try and see if that makes a difference.

  If you are not able to update the drivers using the method above, you may need to restore your system Windows 8 using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 8) which means that you must choose a date to restore before, when you ran the Windows 8.1 update. Once you have done this, you will need to make sure that all Windows updates are installed, as well as all updates from HP and HP all THE drivers are up to date as well.

  I was trying to figure why when you download the drive to my desktop windows XP Pro Sp 3 IE 8, I was getting an error window stating a script error has occurred on this page and it would ask if I wanted to continue. If I said yes it would block forever. So I ran the very sensible suggesstions and after approximately 1 hopur and half of my hair that I spied a URL on the script that were originally displayed and the whenevr error window, I retried the installation/download. I went to the url and it offer me a download of something so I jumped on it. I tried to download/install player again and it worked! So I'll try to get this info out there but don't really know how to do here, it is for any poor soul who MT try everything else is to come. So if anyone knows how, please spread this info where it will help.
